- ANonieMouse replies to BEWARE OF THIS SCAMDon't be so defensive. I'm not "judging" you. But there are a sufficient number of complaints about Jamaican telephone number scams -- including Publisher's Clearinghouse scams -- that, for your own good, you should remember the "876" area code as being a clear indication of a probable scam unless you already know someone there.
Also, whenever anyone wants money to send you a prize or demands payment via "green dot" card or any other means that cannot be traced or reversed, you should know that's almost always a scam. (And I use the qualifier "almost" only because I cannot absolutely rule out the possibility that there *might* be a legitimate case that no one knows about yet!)
If you want to read more about common frauds like this, the FBI has a list of them and advice that will help you recognize them. This link goes to the portion of the site that lists frauds that most often target senior citizens, but there advice is generally applicable and includes frauds such as the one that targeted you. The page also includes an index with links to many other common frauds. I think it might be to your advantage to read the information in this link and in some of the indexed links:
http://www.fbi.gov/scams-safety/fraud/seniors - susanReceived phone call from this number. Yup they were as all the people sad above, called the police and all. How dumb did they think I was. No one gets my money unless I have proof its true. I told him if the lawyer and truck was so close to my house they could come right over and I'd be more then glad to give them $250.00 plus. LOL I would not think some people would fall for these scams. The number was 876-375-2252. Albert Lopez, drivers name was Tony Heart, also Shelia Gibbs and Betty Stone. Who do you report them too?
- Caller: Publisher clearing house
- MichaelThey tried to get me on this fraud. It was a dead give away. The number showed up as "Unknown", the guy... the "driver" said his name was "David Morgan" could barely speak english, he said I won Publishers Clearinghouse (that I didn't enter) and also a check. Even if I had won something I didn't enter, they would already have my address and just show up... He wanted me to call 876-375-2252 ext 5 and ask for Albert Lopez RIGHT AWAY! He gave me a claim number to report as well. I told him okay and got off the line. He tried to call back after 10 mins but I didn't answer. In retrospect, I should have answered and kept him on the line as long as I could... the call must cost them something. ;) I really hope they get whats coming to them for trying to swindle people out of their money.
- Caller: "Publishers Clearinghouse"
- RandyI just received a phone call on my tracfone from someone claiming I won a house and a car from Publisher's clearing house. I need to call 1.876.375.2252 ext 5, Albert Lopez with winning # 3145 to claim my prize. The ID # showed as Unknown. Could be a scam.
- Ron| 1 replyThis number called my elderly mother and scammed her out of almost $200.00, freeking punks have no soul and will sound more convincing to some people. The sad thing is my family has had money issues before so to those with poverty struck incomes, don't get worked up and let them fool you.

PLEASE WARN EVERYONE--WOULD BE EASY TO LOSE 300.00 REALLY FAST
- Stephanie| 1 replyI got a call from a guy PRETENDING to be Publisher's Clearing House this morning. After this 3 minute call with the "driver", Tony Art , he gave me a number to call: 876-375-2252 and my winning code: 3145. I called and spoke with a voice that sounded shockingly familiar to the driver who then transferred me to Albert Lopez (who really had the same voice as the "driver". He took my name (I ONLY gave my name) and he said "Congratulations! You are the winner of $850,000 and a 2014 Red Mercedes Benz with 1yr of Allstate Insurance.
I asked a LOT of questions. I told Albert that I was looking online and seeing that it appeared that this was a scam and that he was in Jamaica. He assured me this was for real and that he was in California. He said he was a Christian, blah blah blah and some other stuff.
I only gave him my name for "verification". I asked if he had any of my personal info or if I would have to give him any info (my address, SS#, etc...) and he said "no". He said we didn't have to meet at my house, we could meet at any location of my choosing and he'd stay on the phone with me the whole time to tell me what to do. I said "CVS", as I continued to do my online search. I told him that some of the posts online mentioned giving them money first. Would I have to buy a gift card. He said I would but it would be in my possession for a year (I would just have to give them the code off of the back). Or, if I didn't want to do that, I could tell them a charity of my choice. {Oh how I wanted this to be for real.}
He said "Let me know if you're wasting my time." I said "I think we are wasting each other's time." He said okay, goodbye and hung up.
Long story short, my 19yr old daughter called the number to mess with him. She gave him a fake name and said "I was told to call this number because I was just told I'm a winner!" She sounded all upset that she hadn't won and kept repeating "but I won, he told me I won a car." To which the guy at the other end of 876-375-2252 said:
"You should suck my d*ck, b*tch, to get the car. Get off my phone!" and then he hung up.- Caller: Phony Publisher's Clearing House
