Black man (Jamaican?) called telling me that UPS was going to drop off package at 7pm.  He asked if I was at home or work.  Then said he needed to ask some questions:
    Are you an American citizen?
Are you single, married, or divorced?

I hung up but he called back and let a message.
As expected, UPS did not come at 7pm.

I suspect he wanted to get more personal information as he had my full name and cell phone number.
I think he is a scam artist.

I agree with you. He just tried to call me and I work for UPS and I know that I have no packages coming to my house today.  He wanted me to go to a Western Union and pay 125$ and then call him back.  This is definitely a scam.

Same thing just happend to me...he called me earlier but I was unable to answer my phone...(horrible accent) speaking to close into the reciever I had to ask him to repeat himself several times he said that I had won a Mercedes Benz asking what color, how many doors, sun roof or not and that I had won eighteen hundred dollars asking that I go to Western Union with $400.00 and that's when I hung up then he called back leaving a voice mail on my phone which I saved asking why I hung up and that he'd take things down to $200 and thats when I Googled the phone number and it came directly to this website and when he called me back I told him that if he tried to call my phone again that I would call the police and that's when he hung up on me and has called my phone back and when I answered the phone he hung up again.

I was lucky enough to win a mercedes & $800,000 !  Catch was I needed to go to western union and send $200 right away.  When I handed the phone to my Jamaican friend who happened to be sitting next to me the caller said he was trying to scam me - not his fellow Jamaican.  Only good thing is this scam artist is not very good at his craft.

I received the same call today, telling me I won $8,000 and a mercedes benz.  All I had to do was go to western union and pay $160 for a receipt and then my vehichle will be delivered to me.  while I had this person on the phone, i used my work phone to see if this was a good number and it was not.  I was asked to leave my job now and go to western union.  After telling him I worked for a attorney he got a little nervous.  Before I ended the call I asked him what my name was and he couldn't tell me.  We ended the call and I called him back and he answered the phone with a response of "hello".  He was unprofessional in answering the phone. Now i don't answer when he called again.  What scam!!!!

It just happened to me.  He said I had to give him $190 and I would receive $800,000 and a Mercedes.  When he told me I had to pay him, I told him that I wasn't giving him any money and that I knew about these scams.  He said, "excuse me sir, I'm trying to give you money, so are you going to pay the transaction fee?". When I told him there was no way in hell I was going to western union he got pissed off and just hung up on me.  I hope no one gets scammed by these dumb [***] con artists.  I did manage to ask him what company he worked for and he said that it was some kind of international gaming company.

My husband got the same phone call yesterday.  The funny thing is, he played the part with the Jamaican guy.  My husband said, YES INDEED... today is my lucky day. I won $800,00 and a Mercedes.  The caller went on to ask what color Mercedes, soft top or sun roof and on and on.  He said that all he had to do to claim his prize was go to a Western Union and wire $180.00.  My husband said, WOW ... for only $180.00 I get a Mercedes and $800,000. I am on my way to the Western Union store right now.  Then he hung up on the guy.  I listened to the conversation, laughed and asked him if it was a scam.  He shook his head YES.  After he hung up on the guy, he tried calling back 8 times but my husband never answered anymore of his calls.  People please be careful for these type of scams.... Do not be fooled by con-artists.

This son of a [***] just tried to scam my mom! Told her she won 800,000 and a benz. Of course she called her smartest child on the phone(me) to listen to this [***] talk. I cussed his ass out and told him I knew about his scam and he picked the wrong family to mess with, I told him I was reporting him to the fbi. He got scared and hung up. He called my mom back and called her stupid and foolish. My brother is pissed now and has tried to call him back to tell him how he feels about him talking to my mom like that but he refuse to answer! Coward!

Same guy named "Jordan" but I had "won" a 2012 Mercedes and $300,000.  Asked me to go to Western Union and send $100 for transaction fees to Levon Kelly, Hanover, JA.  Really hard to understand his accent   Wish it had not been a SCAM but this site helps tremendously.
Beware - when it's too good to be true, it is almost always is.

The following is a consumer alert from the FTC website regarding Jamaican scammers:

"It’s no wonder fraudulent telemarketers often target citizens across national borders. Some believe they won’t get caught if they target citizens in another country. They assume that their country’s law enforcement officials aren’t interested in building a case when the victims are in another country. They also believe that officials in the victims’ country won’t have the authority to investigate fraud calls from outside their borders. But U.S. authorities say these assumptions are dead wrong.

Partnerships among law enforcement agencies in the U.S. and Jamaica are making it tougher for cross-border scam artists to ply their deceitful tricks. The organizations are cooperating in an initiative called Project JOLT (Jamaican Operations Linked to Telemarketing), sharing information, investigators, and other resources; gathering consumer complaint information; and contributing to the legwork involved in building a case, including surveillance and interviewing victims. As a result, fraudulent telemarketing operations in Jamaica are being exposed and shut down.

People who report complaints about cross-border telemarketing fraud are providing information that is critical to putting these boiler rooms out of business. The FTC enters consumer complaints into the Consumer Sentinel Network, a database and investigative tool used by hundreds of civil and criminal law enforcement agencies in the U.S. and abroad. If you experience telemarketing fraud of any type, report it to the FTC. Visit www.ftc.gov or call toll-free, 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357)."

Call was unanswered and no message left.  Appears like a number that has called me previously with no one on the line or some recording pitch.

Jordan just called me and spoke about 4 words every 5 seconds because his accent was so bad.  Told me that i won $400,000 and a mercedes from my cell phone provider.  Here's how the conversation went:

Me:" Oh yea, well tell me who my cell phone provider is."
Jordan: "Uhhhh, that would be Sprint."
Me: " Go phuk yourself dude, my company is AT&T."
Jordan: "So sir, you are telling me you don't want a Ferrari and cash?"
Me: "Hey [***], you just told me I won a Mercedes you [***]."
    Jordan: "<Click>.........ended call

I really suggest you call the number back and listen to the Arab or whatever message it is on the other line thru the static.  Sounds like an angry little kid
