Received a call that I had won a SweepStakes and asked if I would be home to recieve the prize.  I asked what country he was calling from and then he cursed at me and hung up.  I work for a telephone company and can see all the area codes from a chart.

I just got the same schtick today, actually fell for it. But I'm also doing the right thing and reporting all the details to PCH, MoneyPak (the prepaid I used), and my local authorities. Mostly just to see if I can actually get my money refunded, or this dude and his associates end up in a slammer somewhere. He only outed me 180 bucks, so its not that much to cry over, just enough that I would appreciate having back. In all actuality I should have hung up when it was offered a 2012 Mercedes Bens with the money. But something tells me my report might actually turn something up, fingers crossed.

DON'T FALL FOR IT! They told me it was for PCH and that I had won $950,000 and a 2012 Mercedes Benz...when I asked him if anyone falls for this and pays the 1% of the taxes he said "YES, LOTS OF PEOPLE!" Then starting cussing at me!

I got a call on my cell from PCH saying I won $755,000. & a 2012 Mercedes. All I had to do is call 876-840-2772 & talk to the supervisor Mr. Albert Johnson. Luky for me when I told him I was homeless & just staying with friends & lost my ID he told me all I had to do was get a prepad debit card for $350 to prove who I was that was flag #1 but when he said they paid most of the taxes my heart fell, I new it was a scam. PCH dosn't pay ur taxes. Now I owe my friend for the $80 phone bill. It could have been worse, I should have know it was to good 2 B true!

I just called from a guy who sounded like a drunk foreigner and gave me the above # to call that I had won a mercedes and large some of money and that UPS was bringing today but I had to call the # he gave me.  I'm not gonna call after I read comments.  If it is too good to be true it almost always is! Big red flag too that I haven't played or had anything to do with PCH is 20+ years.  WOW

I recieved the same scam today from #'s 8763858588, 8768402992 and 8763879784. All saying they are from PCH and or the UPS  driver requesting you to purchase Green Dot Money Pack card and to give you the #'s off of the back so you can recieve your CASH reward and your Mercedez Benz (2012). Once i asked why i couldn't give the #'s from the card to the driver, or what til the driver arrives to my house to recieve the prize, the person said it wasn't policy and they need the #'s for IRS purposes. I have read recent scams like this. It is truly a scam, please beaware! There needs to be away that we can report these #'s and have this stopped. If i wouldn't have questioned more, they would have gotten $500.00 from me today! So please, if you no of a way to report these #'s, reply! Thank you, and beaware and careful!
    Thanks!

Received a call today- 02/09/13-about winning over $900,000.00 and was told to call this number.  I called the number but my phone blocks international numbers.  Upon checking the area code I found the number was from Jamaica. I didn't fall for this scam. Hope you catch them.

I received the same call this morning, at work, no less....both of my office numbers.  The caller requested I call 876-840-2992 and ask for Albert Johnson at Ext 225.  He said I had won the exact same as above.  I knew it was a scam.  Wanted to report it and hope that these people get arrested!!!

I just received that call and the dude insisted I need to be home in one hour wanted me to leave work and not say anything to anyone because they did not need people hounding them and I told him I could not leave because I was the only one working and they said you have to leave, now they want me to call them as soon as I get off.  I could barely understand them and I hope I did not agree to paying anything.

DO NOT return the call from someone calling from a 876 area code.
This is not a toll free "800" number, it is the international long distance code for the island nation of Jamaica. You are charged international and long distance rates for calling this number. Other international/long distance area codes are 809, 284, and 649.
    http://www.att.net/smartcontrols-809AreaCode

Scammers use these numbers to not only try to scam you out of money, but also sting you with high phone call rates.

    Also:
    It is a scam:
    http://info.pch.com/consumer-information/fraud-protection

They never require any money, purchases, taxes, fees, or deposits of any kind to get your prize.

Publishers Clearing House DOES NOT call, email, FAX, mail, any advanced notice that you have won.

"If you are ever contacted by someone claiming to represent PCH, or claiming to be one of our employees,  and asked to send or wire money (for any reason whatsoever, including taxes); or send a pre-paid gift card or Green Dot Moneypak card in order to claim a sweepstakes prize – DON’T!  It’s a SCAM. If you are sent a check, told it’s a partial prize award, and asked to cash it and send a portion back to claim the full prize award, DON’T.  The check is fake, but the SCAM is real!

Publishers Clearing House does not operate this way and would NEVER ask for money to claim a prize award.  PCH employees would never contact you personally or in advance to notify you of a prize award.  Our prize awards are presented just the way you see in our popular TV commercials, ‘live and in person’ by our Prize Patrol, with balloons, champagne and check in hand - - and with no advance notification!"

I got this same phonecall 3 days ago. Said the same things mentioned above. Don't do it. It's nothing but a scam. Luckily I figured it was too good to be true. Then I asked him what my name was and he couldn't even tell me. So I laughed and hung up.
