Wanted info about a civil action in Chambers County Alabama

threatening legal action to a person not at this number

Threatening calls - saying a sheriff would come to my place of business.  Would not give any information about who they were the first time I called.  When I called again to say I was filing a complaint with the FTC I was given this information

I received a call from 877-201-3399 looking for my fater who has just passed away 4 days prior.I havent called them back but will talk to them to tell them I will report them as well. They must have info in my fathers death only 4 days ago.

My in-laws got 2 calls in 2 days from "Investigator Maxine Billings" saying there was a civil case against me (3 charges) in the county I live in. Sounded like it was coming from a call center. They referenced a "civil case number?" Also wished me "good luck"  ~Chris

My mother (who lives in another state than me) received a voice mail from this "investigator Noel Lucas" she needed to verify my address to serve a summons with a "thank you and good luck" at the end of the voice mail.  Well I made the mistake of calling the number back 877-201-3399.  Spoke with a "investigator Riddington" I speficllaly asked what police department he worked for with a response from him he does not work for a police department.  I then ask if he worked for a collection agency and his response again was “NO”.  He stated that he would have me arrested, pursue legal actions against me.  I asked what I was being arrested for or having legal action against me for with a response of he does not have that information.  WHAT??  
He then hung up on me.  Well I called back again and got “investigator Noel” rude refused to give me any information and just kept saying “good luck”.  I asked again for the details of the pending legal matter or pending arrest was for with no additional information just a “good Luck” and hung up. Before she hung up with me she stated the phone call was being recorded.  This was the first I heard of this.  She did not state the phone call was being recorded when she picked up the phone. Nor did any of the other “investigators.”
I called back again and spoke with “investigator Presson” again asked if he worked for a police department he stated “no”.  I asked if he worked for a collection agency he stated “no”.  He stated he worked for a attorney and the attorneys name was “Jeffery Goldsmith” I asked where Mr. Goldsmith office was located and was told his office was located in Minneapolis.  I searched the MN state bar for Mr. Goldsmith and he was not listed at a member of the bar.  
BUT all of the “investigators” were willing to settle the case with me if I provided them with my bank account information or a credit card.”  I asked several times for details about the case and no one had or was willing to give up the information.  I advised them I would not settle a “pending” legal case without documentation about the case and again got “good luck.”
I will be filing a complaint with the State of Georgia consumer affairs, the FTC the BBB.

If anyone gets a call from this number or from "legal Action Recovery" call the closest FBI. also call the Federal Trade Comm. at 8773824357. Make a complaint at www.bbb.org. THIS COMPANY IS CONDUCTING FRAUDULENT ACTIVITY! there are already cases in California surely other states as well. also file a complaint to the attorney general of Georgia 1 (404) 6563300 . This company is calling people using threats and this is illeagle. they are calling friends, family and anyone that was ever affiliated with certain persons. they have no right! they threatened my mother for a person we barely know, and she had a heart attack, already she has cancer and parkinsons. They may say that they are Lawyers, the sheriffs office or Investigation agency, THEY ARE NOT! they are a collection agency that has accounts from more then 10 years ago that cannot be acted on. YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT AFTER A DEBT HAS GONE OVER 7 YEARS they deduct the amount in taxes and it is "paid" DONT GIVE ANY INFO BUT GET AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE!

OMG, these people called me today and left a message stating this was about a civil matter litigation.  I was about to have a heart attack until I saw this web site.

Phone messages left repeatedly about a "civil action litigation".  Contents similar to those recorded elsewhere: civil action pending, gave an affidavit number and said file would be closed if not contacted. Very "legalize" wording, including reference to county seat of county in which I reside. (Texas).  Messages were for a woman relative whose last name has been different for over six years, and who has never resided at my residence.  Several pieces of information were spoken in a manner so that they could not be understood:  name of company, name of person calling, affidavit number.

I was called from this number on April 28. An African American male told me "they" were filing a suit of civil complaint against me. Said I had better hire an attorney.  Said they could take my house, etc. then said he did not say that. I told him he had better not threaten me. Wanted me to verify my personal information and I did not. When I began to question him he said that his name was Luke Hawthorne with Legal Action Investigation Services out of Georgia. When I tried to look them up on the Internet, I could find no such business. I called the number back and an African American girl answered "Legal Services." I hung up and have not heard back from them.

I filed a complaint against Legal Action Recovery, also known as Last Action Recovery, to the BBB in Atlanta, Georgia.  They have not heard from Legal Action Recovery because they are a fraud.  The same thing happened to me as to the others on these complaint pages.  I filed a complaint with the FBI in Atlanta, Georgia, the Federal Trade Commission, and I am about ready to file a complaint with the FBI in Washington, DC, too.  No one can find these guys.  They take your money if you're stupid enough to give them your information, and they run with it.  None of the money people give them ends up with the company they are supposedly collecting for.  Legal Action Recovery grabs all the money, and when the law gets too close, they run.

Go a call august 27 from a Steven Pracher who left a massage stading that he was trying to get a hold of me regarding claim that will be filed under "farm life issue of orange county" and  he to avoid legal actions that would allow them to contact me at my work place and he left me this number (877)201-3399) I called and resulted to some answering system  "Legal Action Recovery" so I went online looked up farm life issue of orange county,Legal Action Recovery, Steven Pracher & nothing
finaly looked up the numberand found similar complaints. Thanx for postings will sleep better tonight in CA.

I am a Bankruptcy Attorney. these people contacted my clients while in Bankruptcy, so I called them. All the other posts are true. THIS COMPANY IS A COMPLETE FRAUD. They say they are collecting for a Jeffery Goldsmith & Assoc., in Minneapolis. But if you Google it you will find no such firm exists. CALL THE FTC AND FILE A COMPLAINT. call the FTC Consumer Response Center at 1-877-FTC-HELP. The information I could find is:

Client of mine, and some of his family members, received phone calls from these people referencing a vauge "legal action" in New Jersey regarding a Nissan purchase in N.J. years ago. Client has never been to N.J., never bought a Nissan, so I call to get some info. First call, with "Heather Huntley" ends with a request for me to fax a letter of representation. Fair enough, I fax it, get no return phone call. Next day I call back, now I'm transferred to "the supervisor" Mitch Lawrence. Mitch Lawrence refuses to give me any information regarding the alleged claim. When I asked "Is there a lawsuit pending" and "Who is your client", he tells me he will not give me that information without me paying him for it! Very bizarre. Tells me "wait for the summons, you know what a summons is, don't you?" Again very bizarre behavior for someone who is actually trying to collect on a legitimate debt. Alot more bizarre comments, but one that stuck out was, in response to my comment that there is some negative information on this company on the internet and I'm calling to give them the benefit of the doubt, he said, "we've done a lot of research on you too". He also asked my my "won-loss" record at trial and told me to be prepared to "notch another loss". I don't know what to make of these people. I called Nissan and they have not heard of this company.

Thanks for the post I am also receiving calls from Steven Pracher, but not at my house. He has called my mother-in-law and my sister-in-law but he is using my maiden name. Now tell me why has he not called my house at all? He is threatening legal action against me. I knew this was strange as soon as they called and told me. Thanks for the post reassuring me that this is not real.

Yesterday my daughters boyfriend called her and told her that someone called his cell phone asking for me. The woman identified herself as investigator maxine billings with the Sanbernardino court,and she left a bogus case # said that they needed to reach me because I am being sued. my daughter called me and gave me the phone number. I called and asked for maxine and told her my name and ask what this was about. she said that they need to deliver my subpeona for court. I adv her i dont have any court cases pending in s.b. court. I adv her I have not lived there in over 5 years. she said I do have a case pending. and if i was going to cooperate.I advised her I am not going to give her any info until I know who they are and what this is about. she refused so I told her I would contact the court in the morning and find out what was going on. So today I called the s.b. court and checked all the divisions and I had no pending, ongoing dealings with the court. so I called 1877 201 3399 again and a investigator stanley answered and connected me to investigator maxine, I explained that I talked to her yesterday and that I called the court and there is no record of any court cases on me. she said that is because it is pending, I told her if pending the court would still have a record. so again I asked what this is about, she became very rude and indignant and said since I chose not to cooperate yesterday she signed off on my case so i will get a summons in 48 hours. I asked to speak with her supv. she said she is the only one who can access my account. we went round and round and she said good luck and have a nice day and hung up on me. So I called back again,1877 201 3399 and investigator stanley answered and I told him I was just speaking with investigator maxine who was very rude and unprofessional and I wanted to speak with him about my supposed case. He said he found my case, but only maxine could access it. I asked for her supv again with no avail. I asked if this was a colletion agency, and he said No, I told him I hope not, because I was a collector for 20 years and I know the F.D.C.P.A and it is against the law for a debt collector to misrepresent who they are over the phone and if I find this is the case, it will be me sueing them for breaking the law. Investigator stanley all of a sudden said he will get someone that can talk to me and have access to my case, so he connected me to investigator maxine billings again. and again she said she is the only one I can talk to and that has access to my case. I asked her if this a collection agency, and she said no this has already been through collections she became agitated and over talked me and then hung up on me. after all this, they still ,had not provided me with even the name of the company. I waited a while and called 1877 201 3399 again, and this time a young girl answered and I asked for the name of there company and the girl said Legal Action Recovery so I asked for there address and she asked why, she put me on hold 4 times questioning why I needed it. I then asked for the mailing address, and once again putting me on hold she said she is not aloud to give out the physical or mailing address.  This made me ask what state they were in, and she said Marietta Ga.  So this is what made me go on line and try to find out who these people are, because they are breaking the law, and the f.d.c.p.a protects us from this type of collection tactics. I have reported them to the FTC and I am going to report this to anyone that will listen, and have these people take responsibility for there illegal actions.

This Is the same person that contacted me. She identifies hersekf as Investigator Maxine Billings and claims I have a case pending at the San Bernardino court and left me some bogus case number. She kept trying to get me to give her my personal info, but I refused and she kept using legal terminology trying to scare or intimidate me, I am glad I looked this up on the internet and I thankyou for your posting.

I also recieved a call from a "lorraine lucas" who claimed she was not a debt collector but a legal action investigator. She said she was going to sue me for a debt owed if i refused to pay, when i called the 18772013399 number to get an address or fax so i may dispute the case, she refused said she was going to take me to court and hung up the phone. i have already filed a complaint to the ftc. thank god for i read this!! i thought i was in serious trouble!
