I received an automated message from 877-215-2648.  The message said that they were from the ATT Universalcard early fraud department and that I needed to call them by a certain time. If I reached an automated attendant, I was to press: 996742.  I did not.

I got a call from that number about my visa card. I checked through my bank. It turns out their credit cards are handled by citibank. My bank gave me the citibank main number and they confirmed it's a legit number for their fraud early warning prevention system.

This number is legit, but if you call the number on the card, they have the record those people were looking at, and don't seem to mind that you called them directly instead of the number on the message.  I guess I don't use my card very often, and when I cleared $500 in a couple of days, they flagged my card.  I just had to call them to approve the charges.

i got a call, they said they were citicard and that there had been 'high-risk activity' on my card. i bought several plane tickets in europe (I live in the USA) so i figured it was legit. when i called back, they only asked for my zip code to confirm. This was definitely a legit number i called back. checked online, and my online banking went from having a warning of 'high-risk activity' to being cleared after the phone call.

Automated machine called and said was from Quicken World Card, which is my Mastercard.  I called Quicken at the standard customer support number listed on my card, and they confirmed the call I received was legitimate.

Legit. I had some charges that didn't match my normal spending pattern. What threw me off is I have a VISA through them...

Received automated call regarding my Citi Mastercard. I called the number on my card, and was told my account was fine. I'll monitor my account for a bit to make sure everything's okay.

i got a call from a 1-866 # claiming it was citicard calling for fraud protection and asked me to call back within 24 hours on 1-877 #. they also had the last 4 digits of my card. i got suspicious and called the cust service # on the back of my card and they told me it was a legitimate call. confirmed my transactions and gave me an all clear. i will monitor for a few days and ensure everything is ok.

Got an automated message that there was some suspicious activity on my account with this callback number and a 6-digit case #. Problem was, it's not my account and not my name. Turned out to be a problem with their records. I've got through ID theft before and the agent handled it just the right way - I believe it's legit.

    Aloha...
I got an automated voicemail this morning from this number.  I didn't have the correct access number from the message, but a representative answered after being on hold a few seconds.  There was an unauthorized $1,200+ charge from a German Internet address that they were investigating!  I looked at my Citi Mastercard activity online and it wasn't showing, so I think they must have "quarantined" it until I cleared it.  It was an unauthorized transaction so they closed the account and will be sending me a new card.  I just looked at my online account information online again, and there is an alert that the account is closed.  The rep. gave me instructions on what will be happening and what I should do if there is further fraudulent activity.  The phone number is legit.

I got an automated call this morning. Instead of calling back I called the customer support Citi AAdvantage number on the back of the card. I identified myself to the service representative. He said there was suspicious activity of an over three thousand dollar amount in Europe. He asked if this was my charge. I said it was not. He said they would immediately cancel the account and mail me a new card by Federal Express.
Therefore I am one of those who found this number to be legitimate.

It is an actual fraud department; I had the same # come up, and i didn't trust it, so I called the # on the back of my card, and they verified that they thought I had fraud and that they had the fraud dept call me...

    Skeptical Person
I received the call like everyone else. didn't sound right. looked at this website. Looked to see if maybe the people doing the scam were putting up fake posts to persuade people. Eventually just called the number on the back of my card. Talk to a rep. Said there was a security breach with another company where I had recently used my Citicard. Thankfully no fraudulent charges had been made as of yet. Gave me a new account. Have to say I appreciated them taking that step for me. So if you still are worried, just call the number on the back.

    Anti-Fraud
We got this on the machine with a "press 2" machine voice before the automated message.  Seemed suspicious so, not having the card, I called a general Citi Fraud department number from the Citi webpage and the rep couldn't confirm any phone numbers.  Seemed even more suspicious so I did a search on the number and found this site.  Thanks for the contributions everybody, I think I'll call the number on the back of the card even though it sounds like you all experienced this and it seems to be a legit number.
