I received a call from 515-398-0709 Ogden IA. The caller left a message stating he will be seriving me documents to my home or place of residence. He said I could call the complaintant at 877-216-2972 claim number 15077. I receive these calls all the time. They are scammers trying to extort money.

Received a call from some man claiming to be Dave Jones. Claimed he would be serving me papers at either home or place of employment.  If I was not going to be available to call 877 216 2972 and give them the claim number 117514.  I called the number and there was a voicemail for RCS.  The caller didn't even have my correct name.  Obviously, another extortion technique.

Shut him down by turning off any answering device and letting the phone ring. If nobody's taking these calls in any way, they just as well threaten their phones.

***A company must be licensed in their state as well as the one they are trying to collect in if two different states are involved.

    Some Tips:
    *Keep all messages
*Take a picture of your Caller ID
*Keep any and all conversations recorded to your states recording laws, some require they be told, others do not. This can be transferred to a recording device.
*Keep a notebook handy for writing time, date, who you spoke with and what the conversation detailed.
*Check your SOL for your state as well.
*Attorneys need to be licensed as a DC to collect, all DC's must be licensed in their state as well as yours if different.

    Annoyed with the calls
Says his name is Christopher Rose, calling from 781-996-5224, I looked that up and it said the number was from Hodges in Cambridge, not sure if it is a student trying to scam? Says he is coming today to my work, guess we will see what happens. I have not answered any of his calls. Told me to call 877-216-2972 with a claim number.

As far as I am aware, it is very rare that someone will actually call you to let you know they will serve you papers. In order to serve you they actually have to find you, if they tell you they are coming what's to stop you from making sure you are no where to be found.

No.  He called back and left another message exactly the same as the prior Ono, only this time his name was Steve Jones.  I reported the call/message to the FTC.  Just trying to be a responsible citizen.  Extortionists are getting more "clever" in their techniques.  I am extremely concerned with the amount of information on the Internet that is available by just looking up a person's name.

Thank you for taking the time to send this information.  If we all can band together and become extremely educated about these matters, maybe we can save each other wasted time, frustration, and $$$.

I had the same number call me. Said his name was Adam Wilson. Wouldn't disclose any info to me. I told him I knew he was a scam and he said he was hired to deliver papers to me. I just hung up on him.
