- Teddy| 1 replyWho is it? Anyone knows?
Thank you for your help. - AsIfMy guess is that they are a bottom feeding debt collection agency. Someone from this number have been calling my relatives claiming to be an 'old friend' and could they please have my cell number.
Scum.- Call type: Debt collector
- Lisa| 1 replyDefinitely is a debt collector. I received a call today stating I needed to call back regarding 'a very important business matter.'
Debt collectors looking for someone with my same name. I get those a lot...probably college loans. That's what the rest have been.
Rep who answered was very polite and apologetic.- Caller: GRC
- Call type: Debt collector
- RayThey have been calling my cell phone looking for someone else in my family. When asked, she said she was with General Revenue. Since my cell phone is on the do not call list and their inquiry has nothing to do with me, I filed a complaint.
- Caller: General Revenue
- Melissa| 8 repliesThey keep calling my parents house they last person who called was a Cindy Weber and said that I must called back to her extention W55 first all thats an extention I nevere heard of. She wasn't nice to my mother over the phone either. At the end said oh yea and this call may have been recorded inwhich they are supposed to say first.
- SALLY replies to Melissa| 7 repliesSo, did you call back and handle your debt like a responsible adult or do you just think it will magically take care of itself if you moan and complain enough about people doing their jobs?
- Joe replies to SALLY| 5 repliesSo, did you send proof of debt via US mail like a responsible company or did you just think people would magically pay you off if you intimidate them enough over the phone?
Thats what I thought. Yeah, great job! - SALLY replies to Joe| 4 repliesYes absolutely they send proof of debt people know when they owe a debt they know when they don't pay their student loans they just like to blame everyone else for the problems they create.
- Meh replies to SALLY| 3 repliesOh shut up. You can get a collection call from these bottom feeders and it has nothing to do with you. They called my job and I supposed asked for me. I paid for college in cash and never took out a loan. I have never been late on a debt and owe no one any money except on my mortage and car...all up to date. So why would they be calling me? Who knows? If a company is legit then they will answer questions. Suspecting, but thinking it might be related to my job in some way or related to my taxes (based the revenue in their name - General Revenue Service), I called and when they wouldn't describe their business I hung up (really slammed the phone down) and since I don't owe a debt to anyone except the aformentioned, the problem *will* go away. BTW I have the phone number of someone who apparently never paid their debts. I've had it for 5 years. Apparently this person still lives in the area and gives out this phone number and I will get collection calls every now and then. Once had the local supermarket calling me and then the cops. Explained the situation and the calls stopped. If someone googled this phone number, they could get my name and if they googled that, they would get my job number. But I still don't owe a thing.
- SALLY replies to Meh| 2 repliesSo let me get this straight, you received a call that was a wrong number, and then got upset because they did not divulge to the wrong party the nature of the call? The FDCPA prohibits debt collectors from revealing any information about the existence of a debt to anyone but the debtor, so if they wouldn't answer your questions it is because they were following the law. By the way, good for you that you paid for your school out of your own pocket, but perhaps you should have invested a little more. Your spelling and grammar are atrocious!
- AnnoyedwithdebtcollectorsThey called my number earlier today with CID blocked AND left NO MESSAGE; I had to push *69 to find out who was calling...........which listed as coming from Cinncinati, Ohio and some unknown phone number
Tonight, they called w/unknown caller showing on CID asking that I return their phone call immediately to 877-217-3319; their message was so fast that I couldn't understand a word they said w/out listening to the message several times to get the whole message! They claimed to be General Revenue Corporation calling about some Federal Student Aid.........
My student loans are all in Hardship Deferment beause I just had major surgery last month.............SO.........I have no idea why they are trying to call me!- Caller: General Revenue Corporation

- Alana M. BrownThis lady from this number called my house and claimed that I was listed as a reference for my dad's second ex-wife. I haven't spoke to her in almost 15 years.....wth.......I haven't called them back, but I would like to know how they got my last name and my phone number......when my dad was married to her, my last name was my maiden name.......I have been married for 10 years and I have only had this phone number for 3 years......i don't understand how they received all of my information.

- Lou replies to SALLYI have learned by experience, that the louder a person talks (or yells ) the more stupid they must be.
You write in all caps. You are loud and anoying. Too late to prove otherwise. - LouSally... (I know you're not "Sally")

- L replies to SALLYIf federal law prohibits a debt collector from divulging any information about a debt other than to the debtor, why do they (the callers from GRC) leave messages on a cell phone voicemail revealing the creditor name, the debtor name and the amount of the debt, without verifying that they are leaving the message on the actual debtors voicemail?
- franI just got a call from them. I didn't pick up because I did not know the number and I get annoying sales calls all the time even though I am do not call.
A message was left, but it was cut off. The only part of the message left was a reference number.
I have read all posts above. I have no debt whatsoever except for a car note and my mortgage and those are up to date, just as one other gentleman stated.
There is absolutely no reason a debt collector would be calling me.
And to Sally? Why are you assuming everyone is a deadbeat? I assure I am not, yet I am getting these calls.
And no, Sally, I will not call them back, because there is no reason to; it has to be a wrong number since I have no debt. - franoh i did call it back; i was curious.
it belongd to montronics security alarm monitoring system. it was a valid call.- Caller: Monotronics
- PerturbedSally -- I get these calls all the time -- for FOUR PEOPLE I DON'T EVEN KNOW. And no matter how many times I tell these [***], that there is no person by that name at this number, that I've had this number for FIVE YEARS, and that they need to STOP CALLING THIS NUMBER, they call again a month later anyway. So don't try to make it sound as if these calls are all legitimate -- because that's just total [***]. I've also had calls from collection agencies for debts that had been paid YEARS BEFORE. And they don't care... they keep calling anyway. I can send them proof of payment, and all they do is sell the fake "debt" to someone else and a year later I get calls for the same non-existent debt. I ask for proof of debt and they tell me they're past the date when they're legally required to send it.... well then [***], you're also past the date when I'm legally required to send you any information from my end too.... so go spin. I actually had to google my own phone number and get it removed across the internet with those other people's names attached to it -- took me HOURS of hassle to do that. And a few months later those listings cropped up again. In the meantime, ONE of those people was listed at another address and number -- did ANY of these lazy-assed collectors bother to look? NO!
Make whatever excuses you want for yourself -- your industry is fully of wanna-be bullies who accomplish nothing more in life than to harass people. Quit scouring the internet looking for ways to justify your bull and get a real job.- Caller: Unknown
