Most likely the NRA. The keep calling!

Called about 9pm yesterday.  I disconnected call.  I will not take any 800, 877 or any other call from an 8___ number anymore.  When I would answer an 8____ number 99% of the time it would be dead air noone on the other end.  .5% would be a recording  .5% would be asking for me when I answered........ They would never identify themselves before asking for me.  SO NO MORE 8____ FOR ME!

When I picked up nobody was there, just dead silence.

Random calls from the above number. When I answer the person calling does not speak and hangs up.

They call 2 or 3 times a day leave no message. Goes to dial tone and then, to if you want to make a call hangup and dial number again.

Caller ask for my spouse by name, then hangs up after I say not available. Won't let me take a message.

They did the samething to me. They called me as early as 8am asking for my husband, when I tell them that he's not home they hang up. So I kept the number on my caller ID. They called again that same day. My husband answered telling them that he used to be an NRA member, and he'd love to help out, but that we recently had a family tragedy. We lost our 22 year old son to a drunk driver and 2 months later my wife lost her job. They said they understand and will remove our name.  We'll that lasted for a week.
It's been 10 months  and the calls continue. when I answer the phone and tell them this, they give me the same crap, we'll respect your privacy and remove your name. They just called again today for the 2nd time. I now know the many #'s they use, so I dont answer the phone. But it's very annoying. I shouldn't have to screen my calls!

I've been recieving toll free calls for the last three years. The calls are recieved in the morning, the phone rings once and when I answer the phone no one is on the other end. The FCC is condoning these acts by  permitting this and not allowing the people to find out who is making these calling , there should be a lawsuit filed against them and a law past to control these calls.  

I will support any and all actions to correct the irresponsibilty of these toll free companys.

Has anyone actually investigated these mysterious hangup calls with the NRA? I'm beginning to suspect it is an anonymous robocaller trying to discredit the NRA. I've been tracking these calls for a few months but I don't think they are from NRA but a cloaking robocaller:

If you answer these calls and there is nothing but silence it is possible that a computer is attempting to connect to your computer by bypassing your firewall when you answer the call.

Well Sarge they ARE annoying and they are likely robocalls. The calls are legit though (not a cloak) because when you call the number back they identify themselves readily as the NRA and give you some options to get a hold of different people in the organization. They are trying to make you aware of pending legislation that would threaten our right to bear arms, but of course they are hitting us up for money to help them in their efforts to lobby on our behalf.

One of the most annoying things is that robocalls dial several numbers at once and connect only the first one that answers. That is why often you don't hear anything on the other end when you do decide to answer a call like this. The other thing that bugs the @#$%^ out of me is that they don't stop calling even if they have been told to stop. I wholehartedly support the NRA, but they don't seem to understand that this alienates their supporters and undermines their efforts to raise funds. I will NEVER give money to a phone solicitation and I believe most people are with me on that.

Hey SmileyD, robocalls make dozens of calls at the exact same time for a telemarketer and connects only the first one to pick up, disconnecting all the others. This ensures the telemarketer doesn't waste any time on trying to reach someone. It is very annoying and I wonder why it's even legal. It seems to be OK to waste our time. Anything for a buck I guess.
Theses guys ARE indeed the NRA and they DO need funds to keep fighting for our right to bear arms. The International community is trying to force the USA to prohibit arms sales to it's citizens. They want them to sign on to an International Peace Treaty that would result in making it impossible for us to buy any kind of firearm. That's why the NRA is desperately trying to reach people to support them in their lobbying effort.
I wish they'd find another way to raise funds, This phonecalling is very annoying and upsets me. I pay for my phone service for ME to use, not for someone else to use to ask me for money.

I have learned from another number that NRA is National Recovery Assets.  Nothing to do with the real NRA   They have an unreal bunch of numbers they use for their calls.  Some I have had are on your list.
I just answer these calls and say  "Please Hold  Thank You"  & wait until they hang up.  GL

Received calls from this number.  No messages left.  Comes up out of area on caller id.  Annoying and harassing.  Going to notify authorities.  Am on DO NOT CALL registry.

I'm tired of these people calling me. The call under one number, then they call right back using another number. They've even been asked to "remove us from their call list, as required by law" and they keep calling!

They will call from 1 #  and then call using another # and so on - I have listed my number several times on no call list - but it doesn't seem to matter
