I answered, but no one on the other end.

Called 3 times today but didn't they didn't leave messages.

Received call from a male who spoke very broken English. Much commotion in the background. Man would not say who he was or where he was calling from. He just kept asking for my name and information, stating it was a personal matter. He was very insistent for me to answer him.
If he was calling me shouldn't he have known my name????
I hung up!

Called and asked for "Jennifer" -- a very common name, and the name of my neighbor who often visits me and uses my phone for daytime calls since I have a landline and she only has a cell. (We're good friends. Plus, she catches calls for me when I'm asleep -- I have a couple of sleeping disorders and would otherwise miss stuff like doctors' offices returning calls, the pharmacy or UPS making deliveries to our secured building, etc.) They refused to identify where they were calling from, and asked repeatedly "are you Jennifer?" "are YOU Jennifer?" even though I really don't have that androgynous a voice. XP Might be a phishing operation... our building has been targeted by lots of those, since everyone who lives here has either a physical or mental disability and we're seen as easy marks.

I got this call as well, they couldnt even pronounce my name right... I think India maybe.. called twice today.

why would they even try to bother? why not just play head games back?

I've just got a call from 877 231-1547 (From India), the guy claims to be collecting an old debt... hmm. I don't owe anyone, i've execellent credit.  I really think they are just "phishing" for data collection purposes.
I've labeled their number as "Do Not Answer"

Called but left no message.  Caller ID says 800 SERVICE.  We are on the federal Do Not Call list.

Called and asked for Jonathan.  Would not identify what company they were with.  Some Indian sweatshop call center...  People like this make me wish I had a "Detonate" button on my cell phone.  Push the button and the offending caller's ashes gets to drift down into a puddle of molten glass caused by a 10 megaton fusion weapon.

Betcha' that might cut down on unwanted calls....

Called late tonight - 1100 pm Indian accent, referred to Bally healthclub in1994  all b.s., phishing. Apparently the U.S. Is outsourcing con artists too

fraud people make sure to report them to :  Donotcalllist.gov

They say that they are a collection agency, "Allied something". Just want you to say that the debt is yours but can give you no specifics. Just keep saying that you cannot confirm it is your debt and request proof of debt in writing.

we have gotten these calls at 5:42am yesterday and today 6:11 am. it is so annoying, no one there and no one to call back. it is a scam, and i wish there was info on who to contact to yell at, i havent gotten this type of spam call in a long time, but it seems ?random? i made the mistake of dialing back yesterday to see who woke me up. now i might have to up up with these calls for a bit.  we have rights and this is [***]. i have my number not listed also, so i will call my phone company today and complain complain complain

Phone rang in the middle of the afternoon... my unlisted number.  Caller ID noted "toll free"... duh!
Answered the phone and got what sounded like switching noises, more than likely some long distance connection.
As is my standard, I gave them the three "Hello?" limit... and with no response, I hung up.

While I do have a wife that has an aversion to paying her bills, this phone number IS unlisted and is in MY name.  When calls come in for her and her debts, I always give them her cell number.
If the bleeding bastages make noises like they are phishing... I give them the deep six.

Plan of attack from now on will be to answer, and if no immediate response from the caller, to place the phone next to the tv so they can enjoy listening to whatever it is I am watching at the time.

Same thing...someone with a broken English (called my cell phone, no one has that) asked for me and then said he was calling regarding one of their accounts...said to hold and then hung up on me.

Yeah, same thing. Called me, asked for me by name. I have no idea where they got my name and number but I'm positive I owe them nothing.

I have saved the number to my phone under the name "Scammer".

When they call again, I will adopt some silly fake accent and act like I'm a bill collector trying to get money from them.

Hey, you know what to do to them if they can't take a joke, right?
