Got a call from this number tonite and it clearly identified itself as USAA products and services in the message they left on my answering machine !!!! I do not answer unavailable 877 numbers !!! The recording also asked me to call them back at the same number above that my caller ID verified !!! This is not the number listed for USAA Bank as I am a member of that organization and do business with them regularly !!! Just for giggles, I called the number back and got a rather rude young male voice that simply said "I am not ready to talk to you yet >>> I will call you back" !!! I hung up !!!! I immediately called USAA Bank and reported this call to them as a fraud and scam !!! It is now in their system as a reported scam and fraud alert !!!!! BEWARE !!!!!!!!

I am so glad I checked this site about this number. I just got a CC from USAA, have not activated yet. The caller ID was "Toll Free Call." when the guy left a message he said he was from USAA calling about my "services" at USAA.
Did not sound right, so I checked here. Thanks for the information. When I call them I will give them the number that is using them.

This is not USAA. They have called me about 4 times in the last couple of months and I've always just let it go to voicemail. Yesterday I decided to call the number back, just to see if someone would even pick up. I was immediately prompted to input my USAA security information, stating that it was mandatory in order to put my in touch with the correct representative. I hung up and called the real USAA after searching for this number on their website. I reported it to them and had them put extra security flags on my account in the event that someone tries to get into my information. Do not ever answer calls from this number. I've blocked them officially, so hopefully that works. It's an absolute scam.

I got a call from this number today asking some personal questions about where I was attending college and I could hear people in the background and it just seemed very unprofessional and suspicious. I called a USAA representative and she said the information he was giving me was correct but the number doesn't check out and I'm not feeling very confident about the fact that he could see my bank statements but that the number is not from USAA.

I LOVE to mess with guys like that! NO, you will NOT call me back. You will continue talking because I will continue to call back all day long or until the recorder is full.

On my answering machine there is a message from 1-877-240-1420. It was barely audible and somewhat slurred. He said to call him back regarding USAA products. This is not the USAA number which I deal with regularly. It sounds like a scam to me but I'd like to know more if anyone out there can tell me.

This IS a USAA number.  I called their main line after receiving several calls from this number.  The agent I spoke to did some research in my file, then came back on and said "this call originated from USAA. There are no problems at this time, the caller simply wanted to ask you about a recent application or offer further assistance with USAA's products."  What that means, to me, is that it was a call to sell us on another USAA service, such as financial planning or something like that.  It is not fraudulent.  She assured me it IS a number that USAA uses to make outgoing calls.  

I called USAA and they did confirm it as one of their numbers.. Just weird that it's not listed on numbers to call them at.

I concer that this is a fraud call form non USAA personel.  It appears that they took a vacation and
have returned for their 2015 suckers.  This web site is the first place to go when you get one of
these blind calls several times in a roll.  Do not answer them.  They are the pits of scum.
They seem to be taping infomation from new USAA credit card users.

The fake USAA call arrived again today, 3/11/2015 @ 0900 Hrs EST.
The caller left a voice mail on my answering machine which spoke of being a call for the
benefit of talking to me about USAA products and deals.  The voice was male and rather high
high in voice frequency.  The finish of his pitch was for me to call him back on 1-877-240-1420
and talk to him about his information on USAA.
I have researched the spoof laws now in active status created by the FCC of the USA.
The fine for this persons activities is $10,000 US.
A search on the internet looking for the words ( spoof calling ) will reveal several outside the USA
operations that will sell you a service or services to fake a called party into receiving bogus
information.

The calling number can be faked into a different number.
This number if called back to will be rerouted to the real caller location by this service.
This number is in a unused number range that the USA does not use as a available number
range.
The service can also fake the voice heard by you from a man to woman or a woman to man's
voice.  All these cloak or sneeky processes are charged for by the spoof service to the user.
These services could not operate within the USA as it is against the law which is ran by
the Federal Communication Commision (1-888-225-5322) or internet address
https://consumercomplaints which is found with a search for FCC.

call from this number today. caller was male, asking if i had any concerns or information needs. i told him i was about to open a checking acct. he asked for other banks routing number to transfer funds in order to open new acct. told him i'd do it online. call ed the 800 number for USAA. 800 531 8722, spoke with javiere. (this is where it stems from the other posts.) he informed me that usaa HAD called me today and the time was right on. so not sure what is going on here but thought i'd let anyone know that went looking.

This number is a legit USAA number.  It is for the Outbound Member and Delivery Partnership team.  They call to do follow-up on recent policies that have been opened, bank accounts, etc or if you have started a policy online but did not finish it. 100% legit.

This number is not from USAA. This is a scam. I accidentally gave them my social security number. USAA said that they would not ask for that over the phone, nor do they make outgoing calls for products. Any of the posts on here saying they are from "USAA Employees" and this is a legit # are probably the scammers trying to trick you.  I called USAA today and had to do a whole lot of stuff to protect myself from fraud because I mistakenly trusted this number. BE CAREFUL!!!!

I am also an employee that works in this department.  I have worked for USAA for 4 years and this department for 3.  We do call our members as described above by the other employee.  New members to USAA and members who have quoted insurance or started but never finished banking accounts we will follow up with.  877-240-1420 is a legitamite USAA number.

I too received a call from this number. Very unprofessional sounding. I called USAA and they said it was legit and to call them back. If it's THAT important, I'll wait til they call back again.

Missed a call from this number today.  Voicemail was left by a young woman simply stating that she was calling from USAA's products and services (or something similar to that) and requested that I call back to the same number at my convenience.  Everything was perfectly professional and innocuous, if the purpose of needing to contact me was a little vague. I did recently join this organization so a call from them is not unexpected at this point.

This IS USAA.  It is not a scam company, but it does seem weird at first considering all the crapweasels out there who spend their time trying to con people.  This 877 number is from the Phoenix office of USAA.  If you have been on their website and started a process which you did not complete, or you had trouble with the site, they will probably call you at some point to see if they can help.

Got a call from this number.  Phone rang twice and they hung up.  They called right back and left a message saying he was with USAA and was calling about an exclusive checking account offer.  Only said to call back if I had any questions or was interested in the offer.  I'm pretty sure it's legit as USAA does have a checking account promotion right now.
