- HH| 2 repliesReceived a call from these people twice that I owed a pay day loan and that with interest I owed 900+.Also stated they had a wage garnishment order for 25% of my wages but I could stop the garnishment by paying them.1st of all wage garnishments go thru a court after the party has received written notice and the party's work has received written notice..they don't go thru a third party who proposes to HELP you out with the matter.2nd I don't have any unpaid payday loans nor have I ever reneged on a loan.So I call the AG's office and sure enough a new SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This group was scarier than others as a) they speak English and b) wage garnishments are pretty serious, never mind scary.Of course after I told this Mrs.Grady that I had reported them, she apologized saying she would send this back to the lender for them to deal with- Caller: PDL law group

- Dee09I received a call from a Mrs. Campbell about a United Cash Advance loan. This company claimed to be the "middle man". Initially she left a message at my job, saying that "someone took a loan in my name and she needs to verify information". She had all of my information, including last four of my social and bank account number. She claimed that I took out a loan and that I did not pay it back. She also said that a hold will be put on my driver's license due to "check fraud". I informed her that I have never taken a loan from United Cash Advance and I would like the information that she pulled up. She stated that she was not allowed to share that information with me. I explained to her that what she is saying is pretty serious, and if someone used my information then I need to go to the authorities. She became irate and said this conversation was going nowhere and that I was being unreasonable. At that moment I knew it was a scam and I hung up. I had been getting calls from the guys with the middle Eastern accent previously. At this point, I am feeling like the best thing to do is to close out my bank account and re-open one with a new number. This is scary.

- AaronI started receiving calls from this number stating that I had taken out an internet pay day loan and that it didn't get paid back. She said they were going to garnish my wages if I didn't pay them $100 that day. She said they were the middleman to collect for Payday Today loans. I did not take out an internet payday loan and also have proof that no direct deposits during the time frame they stated had occurred. When I refused to pay them and told them they were a fraud, she said they would send my account back to the lender.

- JIMCAT| 2 repliesReceived a call and they told me about a pay day loan. They could do a settlement, or a monthly pay-off , The loan was originated in 2007, and that it had been thru several collection agencies and the balance has grown to $1800. I had assuned I had paid that back years ago. I gave them some information but no security code, and I am suppossed to call them back on Monday 2/28 with the info to enact the repayment. I am not sure if they can garnish my wages. I have been unemployed and under employed for quite awhile, so a wage garnishment would be a big blow. What does anybody think. I have spoken to a bankruptcy attorney and am contemplating filing, but she told me this would be outside and they could still take my wages. Do you think I should call her back?

- DMRI received a voice mail message from a telephone 1-877-269-0088. They wanted for me to call back & as for Ms. Garcia. They don't give any details in regards to the
Call. My opinion is that any one leaving messages should give an
Explanation of their call. They didn't even left the company's name.
I was able to find their name when I called back & heard their recording that their name is PDL Group to leave my name, number & account number.- Caller: PDL Group

- JenReceived 3 phone calls today, all from PRIVATE - 2 gave return numbers as 877-258-1188, the other 877-269-0088. I have asked them to provide me written documentation that I ever took out a payday loan. They are telling me that they can't do that, but I owe the money. I asked if they really expected me to just give them my personal account information without them providing me documentation to support a debt that I am disputing. They said yes. I laughed and told them that it wasn't going to happen. That they should stop harassing me, especially at work. I advised that they should not call me again until they can provide me with the documentation to support the debt is mine.

- BrookeI received a call today. They left a voicemail and I returned their call. They stated I took out a payday loan in 2007 for $300 dollars, but I now owed $1800. When I asked for something in writing, they stated they could only do so after I agreed to a payment plan. When I refused to give them any additional information and that I would not set up a payment agreement without proof, they stated they were returning my file to the supposed lender to see about wage garnishment.

- ginaI recieved these calls as well... they would not give me their address but a p.o.box in Aurora IL. They won't fax me the docs with not good reason.. A business that want to get this debt resolve would autamatically fax the docs. and they was somewhat rude becuase I would not pay for something I did not have.
By the way if you get calls again.. depending on what state you live in before they garnish your wages they have to serve you legal docs and send your employer with a court order ( they wouldn't even call you for that matter) so I know this is a scam. The bad thing about this situation is that they have all your personal infor. I strongly suggest you get identy theft... They are finding new ways to scam people- Caller: PDL legal Group

- SC replies to HH| 1 replyI just recieved a phone call from a Mr. fords who told me the exact same thing. When I called back I asked the lady what did the intials stand for and she said nothing thats just what we go by. She continued on to ask me questions and then plaed me on hold. I hung up. I knew this was a scam, because I dont have any outstanding loans and if this was a true garnishment you wold get a email or letter from your payroll department. Please do not fall for this SCAM!!!
- PiccoloMy call went exactly like Brooke's did. Exactly. I'm in the process of changing all my bank information as we speak. I have also gone to the FBI's website and filed a complaint about this very incident. They cannot, by law, garnish your wages without going to court which will entail the judge issuing a subpoena for your bank records. When these people call and recall all your account and social security information, you reply to them that you don't know any of your account numbers because you don't know if they are recording you agreeing to your account information or not. That's all they need to win a case against you in court. Notify your banks, the major credit bureaus to put an alert on your credit report and file a complaint with the FBI at once. Protect yourself NOW!!!!!!! This crap can become a nightmare if you let it.

- JackieI had a screaming match with these same people yesterday. The lady (Ms. Rios) called and stated that, I owed a loan of $300 and if I didn't pay they would garnish my wages and suspend my license. That scared me and pissed me off all in the same breathe. I told her I had no unpaid loans, she stated that they had sent mail had all my info and that I needed to take care of this matter. I told her I would call anyone I ever had loan with cause I had paid them all off, and could I have the number for this company United Cash Advance, she stated she did not have a number. I told her I needed something in writing in my hand showing that I owed someone. Needless to say she started screaming at me and hung up. I called BBB and DPS both said this could not happen. BBB could not even find a company by phone number. Have not heard anything else from them but I notice that some new numbers are coming in today. This is sad that people cannot have phone service without these scammers. So now I think I am going to change my number. Ridiculous. So if you get a call from these people don't fall for it they are DEBT COLLECTION SCAMMERS. The BBB also said tell them that per Fair Trade Commission by law they have to send you something in writing, and to let them know you have spoken with BBB and read FTC laws.
- KatieI recieved a few calls from this place at work. They left messages stating they were going to garnish 25% of my wages and to call them to stop the garnishment. When I call the number a woman answered asked me for my name and the number they called me at then she put me on hold. Another woman who called herself Mrs. Garcia stated that my rep wasnt available but that she would be happy to help me. She told me it she worked for PDL recovery and told me the orginal creditor was "Cash Direct" when I asked for the address of her company to send correspondence she got upset and wanted to know why. I informed that I have the right to dispute this debt and I want something in writing from them and informed her that I am well aware of FTC laws. Thats when she tried to tell me not to tell her how to do her job and that this was past collections now and that she would refer my file back to the creditor and then hung up on me. SCAM! I reported it to the FTC and am going to file a complaint to my AG office.

- JustinI had the same experience with these people yesterday. They called and threatened to garnish my wages for an unpayed payday loan. I have never taken a payday loan. I have never delt with a situation like this so I was nervous, thanks to this blog I realized it was a scam before I acted on these threats. I called the AG office yesterday and filed a complaint.
