They keep calling and asking for Mr. Miles Leslie.  I have had several calls from this #

The company is Zwicker & Associatiates and they are do not follow the rules of debt collection - I do owe the debt and am trying to work with them and they are playing hardball bc the original debitor - Discover Credit Card - want to take this to court and has filed suit. Google them and you will see for yourself... they may also call from another number 1-978-686-2255

If you are trying to work out repayment, work with the original debtor. DO NOT work with debt collectors. This company finds names out there that might be as little as 30 days behind, and then tries to get you to pay them. (I had an error on my credit report and they were trying to get me to pay a debt that didn't exist. If I had paid them, my credit would still show as being bad unless I worked with the original creditor.)  If you settle the debt with Zwicker, the original card company may still come at you or it may show up on your credit as a bad debt to them. If you have not received written notice from Discover that they have relinquished all debt to Swicker and cleared your name with Discover, then DO NOT deal with Swicker; they are snakes!

This number called 3 times today. They were looking for the previous residents of our house. We bought this house 9 years ago.  I suspect they were bill collectors for the previous residents because we had a lot of calls such as this when we first moved in. No, we do not have the same telephone number as the previous residents but apparently you can google the old address and our new phone number pops up. As if robocalls aren't bad enough.

I get frequent calls from that number but no one answers when I say hello. Glad to know where the call originates but  I do not have any debts or credit cards.

thanks for the info--I have tried to work with DIscover but they have told me I only can work with the collector. We had a court date, I had a telephonic appearance, but never got the call --so I am not sure if they even showed up. Court records are not up to date on the status. what is the status of your case --or do you mind me asking?

This [***] call every day 2 or 3 times and never leave a message and if you answer they don't talk, what a [***] have nothing better to do. I did report this # to the donotcall.gov but they don't give a [***] and keep on calling.

Saw this number as a missed call on my 10 year olds phone...i called it back private and the answering machine says its some kind of law associate...dont know why they would call him and i have no credit debt...they better be wise not call back cause ill give them a piece of my mind

Supposedly they are a debt collection law firm specializing in credit card debt.

Says they are ______________something Law Offices of _______ can't quite catch the name. But, from previous callers it appears they are from Discover Card and are in reality debt collectors. I just put a 'block" on Iphone which allows me to keep them from calling me. They called at 7:10 PM.

Call several times a day. Discover Card a ripoff.

They keep calling, and am assuming they are connected to Discover Card. They were calling me daily, a couple of times a day, back before January, at the end of last year. I talked to them and they said they understood me to be not the person they are trying to contact and would not call me any more. I guess they forgot to deliver on their promise, since they are back to calling my house, asking if I can confirm my address so they can tell me what their "business matter" is. I keep telling them I am not giving my address to anybody. They keep repeating their request. I keep telling them I am not the person they are looking for.

My suspicion is that even though they call themselves a "Law Firm" in fact they are debt collectors.  According to their blurb, they also do "litigation" work.  Which appears to mean they basically fill out pleadings for filing with the local superior court, but do not actually engage in the practice of law. Their associating attorney simply signs off on the documents churned out by this group..  Which means to me that they are basically a pleadings manufacturing group who file large numbers of cases in various states associating with various attorneys in the hope that the defendants simply default out.  Which many people do.

They have a subsidiary office here in Pasadena CA, but I can find no record of    ZWICKER & ASSOCIATES  in the records of the Secretary of State of California.  No idea what their management structure is,  or the names of key personnel, so I cannot check to see if anyone there is in fact a member of the California Bar.

I'm seeing more and more debt collection firms go around deceptively labeling themselves as "law firms",  when all they are doing is paralegal work.  Most of these firms are not actually licensed to  practice law.

It's clear this ZWICKER & ASSOCIATES is serious about debt collection and they do appear to go to court.  But I'm sure they only do this if they are assured that the defendant will default out.

If you are in fact served with process which is legitimate (check with your local courthouse) you'll be obligated to answer the complaint.  If you default, then the next step would most likely be some sort of garnishment or levy.  Seek legal assistance if you are served with valid summons and complaint.

The web page states that they are debt collectors, and the FTC agrees that any law firm that collects debts is a DC and must abide by the FDCPA.

Sorry it is Minnesota that lists all the employees, and they aren't registered there.  My guess is that they have attorneys in each state do their dirty work for them.  Bizapedia has them registered in California but a search does not bring them up.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
