very suspicious misleading

Got a phone message from a "Peter" claiming to be with the IRS.  Wanting infomration about a client.  (I'm a CPA.)  BOGUS

If it's true that it's from Mayo Clinic Patient accounts, then they need to LEAVE A MESSAGE so that people don't think it's a scammer calling.

Ditto to the comment about if it is Mayo Clinic Patient Accounts, they should leave a message!!!

I get calls where there is a recording stating 'all their operators are busy and they will be with me in a minute.' Like I called them, when I didn't.

I got a voicemail with nothing but on-hold music.

I don't care who is calling, if they don't leave a message then they are not legitimate.  No message = improper intentions.

I got a call and they said, please hold for patient services. ????? no clue and didn't have time to hold.

I got mail stating that we need to call them to settle a dept - no name on the letter head - no name on the envelope - and if we were to owe someone money I would think that they them self would have sent us a notice not some company that answers the phone by hello - DUH!!!

Scam call received from this number, claiming to be my local hospital.  When I called back, they strongly urged me to pay a "doctor's fee" for a service dated 1/2 year ago, the bill for which was supposedly sent to the wrong address.  They repeatedly recommended I give my credit card info online before the collection agency was notified, even though they have my correct address and I have yet to even receive the bill.

Shows up as "unavailable" on caller ID, no message left.  Unlikely that it's the IRS, Mayo Clinic or any other legitimate call.

It is Mayo Clinic Health System and I also work for them.  It means you have an outstanding debt and they want to help you.  Fyi if you can't pay it in full they work with a credit collection agency in NW WI that helps finance it and it doesn't show up on your credit report.

Definitely Mayo Clinic Patient Financial Services.  it is an outsourced service, but it is the real deal.
