Received a call stating they were going to serve me in 24 hours if no return call

Said his name was Ellis Merritt from Lincoln Financial Group. Stated I had a debt from 2009 and I was gong to be served at work Monday after I repeatedly asked for the address of his company to verify it. Refused to give me address or any info about compnay...simply stated it was my job to find out about it. Said law enforcement and courts would be handling it from here. Looked up his name plus debt collector and came across dozens of scam reports with his name.

PLEASE STOP CALLING! IT IS HARASSMENT. STOP CALLING FAMILY MEMBERS TOO.  IF SOME OLD DEBT THEN I STRONGLY FEEL A PROFESSIONAL LETTER IS SUFFICIENT. PLEASE.. PLEASE I REPEAT NO MORE CALLS.

Lincoln financial does not own or monitor this website. Send them a cease communication letter VIA certified mail with return receipt requested demanding they stop calling and communicate with you in writing only. This is your right under Federal law.

No one here can stop these scammers from calling you. This is a public forum for people to report and expose scam/spam calls, to educate the public. For that reason, you have more or less helped the cause, but understand that posting here will not stop the calls. You might consider a call blocker if you don't have one, but at the very least simply don't answer calls from this number, or any number that calls you repeatedly.

This person "Ellis Merritt" has been involved in a variety of debt scamming operations from at least 2010 on 800notes.

I had this guy Ellis Merritt call me on an unlisted number and leave a voicemail asking about someone I have never heard of.  I was to pass along this message to this person and so they call him back at 1-877-273-8244 with some claim#.  He also claimed he was with Lincoln Financial Group, which threw me off because I have a couple of annuities with Lincoln. I googled this phone # and discovered this is a scam and an attempt to defraud me or whomever he is looking for...  I will report this to Lincoln legal department.  What stinks is this Ellis Merritt uses and unlisted number to call so I can't block his phone #.

THIS IS A SCAM. My fiance actually allowed them to "collect debt" because they kept calling and telling him he'd be sued if he didn't pay. They sent an official looking email with a word document with this info:

The phone number goes straight to a forwarded, anonymous voicemail. The email came from accountservices@lincolnfg.com, however there is no lincolnfg.com. The letter was signed Ellis Merritt. We are currently working with his bank to reverse those charges. It was misleading because Lincoln Financial Group is an actual company, but their website is lfg.com and they seem to be life insurance, not debt collection.
