Left a message claiming to be Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois.  Knew my name.  May be legit.

Contacted Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois.  Was told this call was from Silverlink, an outside consumer management health outreach company.  Was told they would keep sending me messages until I said, texted, or emailed "Stop" in response to their messages.  Was told BCBS could not stop them for me.

Received 2nd message from this number in 4 days.  Saw this site. Will not respond.  Claims to be Blue Cross / Blue Shield but this is not the Blue Cross contact number.

Do not call back! A different number called pretending to be Blue Cross/Blue Shield and left message to call them back at this number with a security code. Called BCBS directly and they said it was not them.

Called the number to tell them to remove me from their call list...but could never get to a live person. All the options are automated, and all they keep asking for is personal contact info. It's a total waste of your time. Their number should be put out of business!

I got a call from that number.  The message said to call a different number.  They claimed to be BCBS of Texas but they called after business hours so red flags went went up in my head.  They wanted to "verify" my name and address, but I hung up after the name.  I seriously doubt BCBS needs to verify my address since they send all their statements to it already.  I also doubt that they would do it by automated voice system because of privacy concerns their customers may have (e.g. customers can not know for certain if it is actually BCBS).

Had two messages on my home phone answering machine to call this number and if calling from a different phone to use the security code given.  Called from the same phone, wasn't recognized so needed the security number but when the number was repeated back and I was asked to confirm that is was right, they just kept saying they could not understand that I was saying yes.  The message timed out and then I decided to check out the number.  Sounds like it is a fishing expedition so am disregarding and will be trying to figure out how to be taken off their list.  JSS in Oklahoma.  From the postings, sounds like they are in lots of states.

got a call today on my cell from this number. the auto attendant message claimed it was BCBS & to call a number back. the number matched the number on my caller ID so i called back thinking it might be legit. my cell carrier blocked my call to that number so i got online to do a quick search & found you all. Since the last report is from Apr. 2012 they must have been waiting for time to pass for people to forget.

Just received the same call. They knew my name, which is odd. i dont think it is bcbs because they have always contacted me with a live person, not through an automated system. Wonder how to report them?

I work for BCBSIL/TX/OK/NM (parent company HCSC). We are doing a systemwide update of contact information and are using SilverLink as the vendor to gather information. It's a simple verification process. No biggie. :-) We do it every year or every other year or so. No reason to panic - although I do understand why people are so paranoid.
This one is legit. If you call your customer service number on the back of your card and ask about it, we'll tell ya the same thing. :-)

I have some doubt about this post.  Especially after reading some of the others.  Besides ALL of the insurance is handled through my place of business, I am not the person you would confirm anything with, they are!!  Still sounds very fishy.  Call the employers and get information confirmation from them as they handle the insurance or send letter first, so the call is expected.  STill sounds off.  I'm not calling it back.

Why worried bc its annoying! Also, bc most scams are done this way. They should not be calling your home with your name from some unknown number. They should do it through email!!!

Recv'd a call from this # today.  Same as many of you - 'This is BCBS', give a call back, & left a "personal security code" if I don't call back from the same # they called.  Right away, I thought it was odd.  Why would BCBS be calling; they're already getting my premiums.  Checked this site & glad I did.  I Google'd the # and found a couple of things from Silverlink, but nothing from BCBS.  It said it was a method to collect preference of how BCBS should contact me.  Funny thing is, I already receive e-mails from BCBS.  1.  If it's Silverlink, why do they say they're BCBS?  2.  If it's on behalf of BCBS, why don't they send something -- especially when it's concerning personal health information??!!  Shame on you, BCBS -- IF this is legit.  P.S.  Need I say, I'm not calling back.
