- SandraJohn M? was very rude. First of all Sandra doesn't live here. Second he wouldn't tell me what the call was about and then hung up on me.
- sarahcalled and hung up on answering machine
- benI've finally had enough of the "Hello...hello...hello" on my answering machine. I decided to google the number and this is the site I got. Very interesting comments!! In a way, it's nice to know that I'm not alone. Someone on another website made a legitimate argument for the validity of them calling. I have a friend who is a state trooper and he has never directly heard of the organization nor does he anticipate ever benefiting from what they do. Maybe he and I are wrong, but anyone who solicits money via the phone should at least be a recognizable organization. I've never seen/heard about them in the news. The phone calls are borderline harassment. IF everything is legitimate, then my apologies. It's a pretty poor system though. I might call the local police the next time I'm "harassed" and ask them what they know about it. These calls are a nuisance and they need to stop. As others have indicated, how legitimate is it on returning the call back to get what appears to be a Cingular voice mailbox which was reportedly full? Hmmmmmmmmm...........

- bettyThey have called me numerous times asking for donations for "teddy bears". Each time I ask them to mail me information about their organization. I have yet to receive anything in the mail. They have called pretty much on a monthly basis for a couple of years now. It has to be a scam.
- 4sargeIndiana Troopers Association calling from a Fund Raising firm in West Virginia from this telephone number and several others. They either call and do not leave a message or ask for me and when contact is made, the line disconnects. Yesterday I filed a complaint with the Indiana Attorney General's Office because I am on their Do Not Call List. After receiving another similar call this AM, I called the Indiana Troopers Association directly and reported the problem to them. The lady was very nice and said that the telephone calls were endorsed by their organization and that they hire the telephone solicitors and that way it circumvents the Indiana Soliciting Law but she said that she would remove my telephone number from their listings.

I would suggest that if receiving these calls to call them directly and ask to be removed from their telephone solicitation list.- Caller: Indiana Troopers Association

- Dr. William E. KrogelOn Saturday November 17th at 8:24 p.m. I received a call from "John" who said he represented the Indiana Troopers Association. He asked for a donation, and I told him to send me the information and I would cosider it. He said he had to put down an amount, and I told him he could put down any amount he wanted to, but I was not going to do anything until I had the informaiton. He hung up on me.
I am on a "no call" list.- Caller: Indina Troopers Association
- abI have had 2 callS so far. They always hang up and never say anything. So,I googled the number to find out who it was. I have had other persons who have had calls from this number and the person calling was very pushy and demanding tried to guilt people into giving donations. Also, in one instance called the person back who had already given once and asked for more because others were not donating. How wrong is that?!

- Linda| 1 replyWe been getting the same calls. Some of the rudest people I've seen. More than time, this guy sounded so rude, chewing something while he talked and had a rough voice. If I was trying to raise money, I think I would at least have people who at least knew how to talk professionaly. But that aside, I thought this was tax deductible. There's a small note that says quote"The Indiana Troopers Assoc. is non-profit is recognized as a non-profit organization by the IRS, but donations are not tax deductible as charitable contributions for Federal Income Tax purposes." This is a surprise to me, I thought all non-profits were tax deductible.
Sometimes, they say on the phone it is to help families who have lost loved ones in the line of duty. There's a lot of families who have less income who have lost loved ones who got nothing. I don't mean to sound heartless, but I would think troopers have life insurance and other savings. I appreciate everything state troopers and law enforcement does in their daily jobs. If they want to get together and raise money amongst themselves, fine, but I don't think they should pay solicitors to raise money for them.- Call type: Valid
- areamike replies to William| 4 repliesSCAM SCAM SCAM!
The Indiana State Troopers receive all their funding from State and Local Government taxes and would NEVER ask you for a donation. You donate by paying your taxes. Keep on reporting these scammers. Eventually, they will move onto something else. - areamike replies to LindaYou are not heartless. You are being WISE. Do not give them anything. This is a scam. You pay taxes? THAT is your donation to the Indiana State Troopers.

- KRIS| 3 repliesI AM SO SICK OF THESE CALLS, BUT I AM TOLD THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO ABOUT IT BECAUSE THEY ARE NON PROFIT. I HAVE NEVER DONATED, I KEEP TELLING THEM TO NOT CALL AND PUT ME ON THE "NO CALL LIST" THAT THEY ARE SUPPOSE TO HAVE BUT MOST LIKELY DONT. IT IS ONLY 7:22AM AND I AM GETTING CALLS FROM THEM. IF IT WERE ANYONE ELSE WE COULD PUT A STOP TO THIS. WITH ALL THE MONEY WE PAY IN TAXES FROM OUR PAYCHECKS, AND THEN WHEN EVER WE SPEND WHAT LITTLE WE HAVE AFTER TAXES ARE SALES TAXED AGAIN, THE GOVERMENT ENDS UP WITH MORE OF THE MONEY WE WORK FOR THEN WE DO. THEY SHOULD BE DONATING TO US. HOPEFULLY SOMEONE WHO CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS WILL SEE THESE COMPLAINTS AND PUT A STOP TO IT.

- on do not call list replies to areamikeJust got a call today from "Indiana State Troopers Assn." Saying they are not affected by "do not call list". Looked on line and it must be a scam.
- J. Colgate replies to KRIS| 2 repliesKris:
If you call the office of the Indiana Troopers Assn. directly, they will remove your name from the listings.
As a retired Indiana State Trooper I apoligize for the actions of the firm they use to solicit funds. While the Indiana State Police are a tax supported, government agency, the Indiana Troopers Assn. is made up of both active and retired members of the ISP as well as a large number of associate (civilian) members. While I am a member of the Indiana Troopers Assn., I am not an "official" anything with the group. As I mentioned before, I am a retired ISP member and very proud of it. I will pass along your message personally in an attempt to prevent any discredit from falling on the Indiana State Police Department. Again, my apology! - Torch replies to J. ColgateColgate:
Why should we have to call anyone directly? When someone calls and we ask to have our name removed from the list, why isn't it done then? And don't say it's supposed to be, because I've been getting dozens of calls a year for at least 10 years.
"While the Indiana State Police are a tax supported, government agency, the Indiana Troopers Assn. is made up of both active and retired members of the ISP as well as a large number of associate (civilian) members".
What kind of double talk is that? You're tax supported, 'nuff said. Now what does retired and civilian members have to do with begging/harassing me for money? Are you receiving donated money in addition to your pension plan? I've also heard the line of how it helps pay for officers funerals...people die everyday in every line of work! Odd that I don't get calls from the International Association of Fire Fighters or the International Association of EMTs and Paramedics?
Other than driving up and down I65 handing out speeding tickes, what exactly does a State Trooper do that's so special or dangerous? It's not like they're real cops being shot at while doing drug busts in downtown Gary Indiana.
Hey, maybe I.B.E.W. and the Iron Workers Union should start telemarketing because their members have dangerous/high death rate jobs that make our world a better place to live too. And lets not forget about the 31,000 convenience store clerks shot every year so you can get your coffee and donuts. - Tanjawe recieved a call and they asked for my younger daughter. when i asked "who's calling please?" the man on the other end (with a southern accent) said "i'll call later," and hung up. how irritating.
- Nancy GI've gotten two calls so far, both fairly early in the morning - and I've hung up BOTH times because I'm on the DO NOT CALL list and it makes me mad when a solicitation call slips through. Next time I plan to put the phone down near our parrot's cage and go on about my business. Let him talk to her for awhile. If she's not chatty, I'll just do what my mom used to do when I was little - just lay the phone down and walk away. 9 times out of 10 the solicitor never called back. When my kids were small (remember that really chatty preschool stage?) I used to hand the phone to them - it was very effective - they were both ADD and VERY CHATTY.
I love Indiana and am happy to be home but I have to say that DO NOT CALL seems to have been much more efficient in Michigan. I NEVER - and I mean NEVER got an unwanted call. I've been back 6 months and I swear two weeks do not go buy that someone doesn't call me begging money or trying to sell me something!- Caller: Indiana Troopers Association

- DawnI received a call from the Indiana Troopers Association. When I received the pledge receipt, it said that I cannot take this donation off of my taxes because of their tax status. Sounds like a scam when you cannot write a donation off of your taxes!
