Company keeps threatening me that they are going to have a warrant issued and have me arrested for a bad check--but they can't tell me when or where or even the amount. Haven't had a checking account since eight years ago. How many companies take a check from a 12 year old? Their website is nothing: www.southpointmanagement.com  They are even calling my mom.

Recieved a phone call early in the morning from a man named David Coleman, who stated he worked for a company that serves summons. (I repeatedly asked him if he worked for the courts, and he said, no...so I questioned the legality of his serving "summons"). The company was called SMG and the phone number is 1(877)290-9013. He said he was about to stop and get a bite to eat and then he would be stopping by my house to talk with me. I was at home alone with my young son, so I felt EXTREMELY threatened at the thought of a strange man telling me he was coming to my home. I told him he absolutley was not coming to my house, so then he said he would go to my place of employment. He said I wrote some bad checks which I CERTAINLY did not do, and I informed him of this. I asked him where the checks were supposedly written and for how much and he could not tell me. When he said he was going to come to my place of employment and my home, I told him that I was giving him one warning that I did NOT want him to do that, and if he did, I would consider that harrassment. He raised his voice at me and told me that he had a legal right to do so and then abruptly hung up on me. I am in the process of filing complaints against this man and this company, so if you get any calls from them, don't take it lying down. Do research on the Fair Debt Collection Acts in your home state to find out what you can legally do.

Have you heard or seen anymore of this person?  Does seem a little weird and I would suggest maybe contacting your state's attorney generals office right away.

I just received a call at MY OFFICE from 'Amanda'-gave no company name-stating my son was going to be served for bad checks. He's been in Iraq and I know he didn't have any checks. I don't know how someone would have my office #.

To GS- I too have received calls from this number/company and I also do not own any checks.  I reported it to my state Attorney General.   My claim manager advised that I should never, ever give or confirm an info to someone calling me.  Always ask them to mail you the bill, debt or whatever it is they are calling about.  My calls were back in July and I have still to see anything in the mail from South Pointe Mgmt Group. This caller, amanda from smg, called my parents house, and told my mom that she was going to serve me for a bad check, she gave my mom all the information which was hardly any at all, just said she needed to collect money or i will be served tomarrow! at my home or job. they would not say where i had a bad check, they said i could call 877-290-9013 but i would not be able to reach her, it be another rep. i called and its a answering machine just saying no one can take your call and to leave a message. As i can see this looks like a false company bc i have wrote a bad check to a grocery store and it went to the county court offices to be paid not a private agency and im sure walmart n shnucks dont go through a small debt collections agency HAHA  if i get ahold of them i will let them know im contacting the police! this is scary! and weird!!!!!!

okay so i called them back today to get more info on what they want, and they gave me a old bill that WAS paid...but are trying to claim again to scam you. i did speak to the atturney generals office who said i need to make sure its a real company throught the better bussiness buerru....www.bbb.org, or by phone, but the website dose have all the bussiness on there. so its not on this list.  makes sence now, but please make sure you dont give them ANY information on yourself. they say they will come to your home but dont, they say u need to pay in a hour, they even said i was a f'ing joke and hung up on me when i said i was going to make sure they are a real company! best of luck to all- dont be a victim, you can report this fuad to better bussiness buerru!

Thank you for the information.  I was just contacted by David Coleman with a repeat or RW's description of the message that was left on my work voicemail. I will heed the warnings.

This was very funny to me getting a call from someone saying i wrote bad checks considering i have never in my 29 years wrote a check. He left 2 messages and i just ignored both because of the fact that i've never written a check at all.

I thought I'd Google the number to try and find what company this was. I got the same phone call, but immediately considered it BS. Who tells you you are going to receive a summons over the phone or in a voice message? I f they were really going to do it, it would be certified mail or in person. I haven't paid the message any mind and am not calling the number back because I know I haven't written any bad checks. Waste of time.....

BS thug debt collection company, which is oddly enough calling out of Buffalo NY, all bark, no bite...

Funny thing is how many FTC laws they break with their first contact phone call. Suspect in about another couple of months the number will be shuffled to another thug collector, and the same threats will appear in my voicemail. Just file another report with the FTC, send another letter to the DA over in Buffalo and carry on with my life.

Just got off the telephone with a guy who identified himself as Timothy Koller, refused to tell me who he works for, the mailing address for his company, the name of the "Attorney" he works for , demanding, yelling, and defiantly overbearing, told him that I was filing an FTC Complaint, this guys is a total idiot, any place that wont send me a bill or tell me their mailing adress is SUSPECT, SOUNDS LIKE A SCAM. ATTORNEY GENERAL SHOULD FINE THEM

Someone called "Wendy" called my daughters house number, saying I had written "bad checks".
They said they were going to serve me a summons for this, and I would have to go to court.
I have not written any bad checks, nor have I ever heard of someone calling another person to tell them they were serving you. They freaked me out for a little bit, as I have no idea how they connected my daughters number to me, but they are not legit at all. They do not answer when you call back, and are very shady indeed.
Do not be fooled by this bogus company! I will be contacting the FTC about this place asap.

Got a call yesterday just like others have reported.  They left a message that was addressed to my maiden name that I haven't used in 10 years!  Same story as others, I had written bad checks and would be served at my home or office, etc., etc.  Ended call with statement that the message would be evidence that "I had been served."  Even I know you can't serve someone on the telephone!

So glad I found this website.  I will definitely not be calling them back.

I got a call this AM telling me they were on there way to serve my husband court papers at work for a bad check but they would not tell me from who..They told me to call 1-877-290-9013
so I did and they said it is a debt from cashnetusa from sept 2009...I dont think we ever had a loan with them...they have me freaking out!

I too have gotten this phone call numberous days where a guy calls to state he is going to serve me a summon for a payday loan that I took out in Novermber of 08 and did not pay back right away but went into the office where I got the loan and paid it because I was out sick and in hospital for the last part of the year in 09 and the 1st couple of months in 10 then went back out in august of 10 for another month and they will  not take it off that it was paid.

Someone called my company and said I would be served papers tomorrow and provided her a case number to give me.  I called the 877-290-9013 before I checked the internet.  No one answered the call.  I will no waste my time calling this number.  I have no idea what this could even be about, perhaps they feel they can try and get personal or banking information from someone.  This is not right and I hope justice is served upon them!

This jerk named Mark Bello called me on my cell phone and informed me I would be served at work today ( to which I haven't worked in 3 years and he gave me a relatives work number instead of my old one) and my summons would be delivered today. I asked him what he was talking about and said hes calling for his client and to call them 877-290-9013. He told me i had written a bad check to them and I would be needed in court. I am sure this was for cashnetusa which i did have a loan with 3 years ago. I never paid it completely so it makes sense that he represents them. I know these ppl are not legit. They are harassing as hell

rec'd a call today from 877-290-9013 from a women named Rosie I believe that is what she said.  the message was left on my machine stating the same as above I would be served at home or my place of business.  the first thing i did was check out this number and low and behold look what i found all these complaints.  if i receive another call i wwill be calling the ftc.

Received a call at my place of employment. Woman stated that I needed to call this number 8772909013 regarding a pending litigation situation. She wasn't able to give me any more information. How do I find out if this is a legit busines?
