Called wanting to know who was responsible for my late Wife's estate. I was informed that they were a collection agency. Even after I informed them that we had nothing to discuss, they insisted on continuing the conversation to "update their files." I will no longer answer calls from this number.

Smart move. Except in very specific circumstances, you are not liable for your ex-spouse's bills. Unscrupulous debt collectors will try to tell you otherwise, but you're obviously smart enough not to fall for their ploys.

They called about my estate, as if I were deceased. When I talked to the contact and proved that I am in fact not dead, (Thankfully)  she then wouldn't give me any further information stating that they must of mistaken my name and contact information for another's.

Been calling and sending out bills saying my late wife had an outstanding balance on her last day in the hospital. Said they were a debt collector.  When on a 3 way call with my insurance company they changed their story saying no one would be responsible for the remaining balance.  Yet they continue to send bills.

If they are a third party debt collector this is wht they were required to send you:

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

But in any case I would do this:

You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation letter (think of it as the best $6.47 you ever invested).  Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it.  Make a notion of that fact at the bottom of the letter.  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.  Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front):  http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

Read up on your rights here and also make a complaint at this government site:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

The number cane up on my Call Blocker as Better Business Bureau. I already had them blocked so they can't leave a message. However, my Dad passed away suddenly in July and I am getting calls from bill collectors. His estate is settled and there are no funds left.

They called my mother about my late mother-in-law's estate! She had no will or estate. I don't plan to call them back, but I don't appreciate them calling my mother about it.

I have gotten numerous calls from this company  ... it's a collection agency that specifically deals with outstanding debts on estate cases.  They contact the nearest living relative in regards to debts owed by the deceased that have been turned into them.  The times I have answered they've been very pleasant (actually a lot nicer than the agency that they're collecting the debt for) but it is a company that's after money that's owed by a deceased relative.

They called twice, wanting to find out who is handling my deceased fathers estate. How did they get my name and phone number?  Dad was married 27 years and his wife is still living at the same place and phone hasn’t changed, so why would they call me?  Dad didn’t have any outstanding debt, other than medical for the last 30 days of his life, so they are either scamming or debt collecting for medical bills.  Only way they could of got my number connected with dad would be because I was pressured into paying for the funeral and funeral home had me as a contact person for the death certificate.  I suspect that’s where they got my phone connected to Dad.  When I called back to see where they got my number, the person who answered did not answer my question, instead he said he would remove my number and hung up.

Not near my computer to look up the number as the call came in this morning, I answered and was told by the caller that she had the wrong number.  She apologized and was gone.

OK, so that sounds like a genuine wrong number where the person calling was polite enough to tell you they had the wrong number and apologized for the inconvenience.  Why did you take the time to report it?  For that matter, why would anyone need to know that this was simply a wrong number call?

My husband just passed a month and a half ago and I've gotten so many phone calls from this number which i let go to voicemail wanting to know who is in charge of my husbands estate. I also got a letter in the mail. But there is no estate no money so I'm not going to worry about it. They are annoying though.
