- Ms ACT letter| 22 repliesReceived letter from "ACT - A Community Programs" asking me to call the above number, (1-877-342-4308) within ten days to collect between $1500-$10,000 because, "Through government studies it has been brought to our attention that your loan as well as many other loans may have been overcharged or miscalculated several thousand dollars."
No return address, nothing on the internet re this group/organization. And not the best sentence structure.
Didn't call the number. - Me too replies to Ms ACT letter| 11 repliesI got the same letter -- won't call. This whole things seems weird.
- MeGot the same letter, too. I googled this study and found something. Has to do with Adjustable mortgage rates and miscalculations and overcharges.

I don't think this letter would benefit anyone though. I you were overcharged check the website above and find out how you can get help that is on the up and up. - cindyalso received the same letter and did not respond to it.
- Caller: A Community Programs Division of ACT
- MikeI got the same letter too. I believe I'll pass, doesn't look very legit.
- wendy replies to Ms ACT letterWe received this same letter today and we do not believe this is worth calling. Letter does not provide enough information and you should never give out any personnal info by phone. Seems to be a scam.
- JackieI got this letter about a week ago, and actually called it without checking this post first... i paid the money ($99) to have my load audited. I'm gald i did cause i got $578 bucks from my lender. they forgot to credit an old payment where i paid extra on my mortgage. they applied it to interest instead of principle. I only paid and additional $300 dollars on that payment but after the interest that they owed me was applied, that's what the refund came to. Mortgage audits are real, and i'm living proof of that. it's really worth checking out. just don't give them any information if you're not comfortable. but i've got an extra $600 dollars in my pocket.. which is nice.
- Caller: Mortgage Audit
- Jason replies to Ms ACT letterYeah, this letter seemed weird cause there's no company name or anything like that. But they're totally legit. They offered to do an audit for $99 dollars and since i didn't have a refund do. i got my money back... i don't see the scam in that. and i got a full report on my mortgage note showing that all the payments were credited correctly. I'd say that's worth at least $10 dollars. but it was free to me. They're legit as far as I could tell from my experience with them.
- Jason replies to Me too| 9 repliesIf you don't know what they do, call them and find out... :P
I checked them out on the bbb, and i called them. They're legit. - JohnFrom the web site I read about above - this is for ARM (Adjustable) only - so my fixed was ineligible.
- Can't Belive It replies to Me tooIts obvious lenders make mistakes, just watch the news, i mean bank of America can't even foreclose on people anymore cause they've made so many mistakes on loans. this letter almost made it to my shredder but after some of the posts i read, i thought that it just might be real. Anyways, i called them and they audited my loan, they said i had about $750 due back from my lender. I still thought they were taking me for a ride, but after sending the audit report to GMAC, to my surprise, they credited me $748.74! I am seriously in shock right now, and would defiantly suggest to anyone who reads this to give it a shot, especially if you got the letter.
- Jacob| 1 replyI recieved this letter; a bit disturbing even after reading the posts. It's also strange this company, yet to be identified even in the post, doesn't give a name or a website. Not worth identity theft... I'll pass
- notsosure replies to Jason| 8 repliesHow were you able to call the bbb since there was not an address listed on the letter, nor the envelope? You need to have the state that they are in in order to call the bbb. Even your comment makes me a tad bit suspicious!
- Justin| 3 repliesI received the letter as well and I called. Thier web address is here: http://www.consumerservicing.org/Home/Index
Their BBB report is here (A+ rating):
http://www.bbb.org/denver/business-reviews/mo ... ver-co-12052936
I am giving them a shot. There is a $99 upfont fee for the audit, but if no refund is due to you from the audit of your loan, they credit the $99 back. I'll return and report after my audit a process is complete.- Caller: Accelerated Equity & Development, Inc.
- Ryley replies to notsosure| 6 repliesI think you just go to their website consumerservicing.org, the link to the BBB is there. That's how i checked them out. I'll call them tomorrow to see what this is all about.
- Strange replies to Ms ACT letterI received this letter too. I called and they give said they were Accelerated Equity & Development. They supposedly provide mortgage audits where you could get a refund on your mortgage. They wanted $99 to begin. I don't feel comfortable giving out my credit card number over the phone, especially when they did not even have their name or address on the letter. If they are a creditable company, why wouldn't their information be on the letter (eg. company letterhead)? I don't think I will call them back.
- Jennifer replies to Ms ACT letterHonestly, I have no idea what to think about this letter. But it's funny, the positive posts on here are from people that actually called in and dealt with this company. The negative posts are from people that never called but say, "i got a letter, it must be a scam". But I agree, the letter does look suspicious.
- anonymous replies to Ryley| 5 repliesI looked up the registration for consumerservicing.org. Both Administrative and Technical Contacts list United First Financial of Utah (the ones who brought us the totally unneccessary Money Merge Account). The Registrant Contact listing has several problems:
Name: John Denver
Organization: JD INC
Address 1: 123 Main St
City: Anywhere
State: UT
Zip: 44123
Country: US
Phone: +1.8011238596
Fax: +1.8011238596
Email: Email Masking Image@jdinc.com
44123 is an OH and not a UT zipcode.
The USPS web site has no zipcode for 123 Main St. or just Main St., Anywhere, UT which means either Main St. or Anywhere or both does not exist.
Yahoo maps cannot locate Anywhere, UT.
At first I thought maybe "UT" was a mistake and he intended to list "OH" which would be consistent with the zip code but this can't be either because 801 is a UT area code. Either way, phone and fax numbers are invalid because 123 is an invalid exchange. If you call that number, you'll get a number-cannot-be-completed-as-dialed error message.
jdinc.com does not show up on a google search, i.e., it's not a live website so it's not clear if email addresses to that domain exists though it is currently registered.
It's very clear the Registrant Contact info is all fake. Why? To provide plausible deniability for UFF?
THIS IS A SCAM AND ALL POSITIVE POSTS (like yours!) ARE SCAMMER SHILLS'. - Ms. Curious replies to Justin| 2 repliesJustin so was this legit? Did you get a refund or at least your money back?
