Large scam claiming that they have money to depoist into your account and that they are a under contract by Wells Fargo and to call them back to receive payment.

I received a message from them saying my Wells Fargo account would be closed if I did not call them. I called Wells Fargo and they did not know who it was. Must be a scam.

I also recieved and call from this number from someone claiming they are calling from beonline bill pay services on behalf of Etrade.  They said one of my payments was returned.   Well I researched the number and it belongs to a company called Metavante.  I then contacted Etrade and it turns out Etrade does use Metavante for their online bill pay services.  Etrade said they will look into this.  I will wait until Etrade gets back to me about this and then I will post what they found out.  In the mean time I will call the number tomorrow and try to find out more info myself.

I also received a call today from this phone number saying they are Van Line Bill Pay calling on behalf of Wells Fargo. My recent online payment was rejected and I need to call this number by Oct 31st or my accounts will be closed. I made an online purchase last Friday on Ebay and my payment was made through Paypal. By the way this is the VERY FIRST TIME I have ever used Ebay or Paypal. I just called Wells Fargo and they have never heard of this company but did say my account was deducted the correct dollar amount. I then called Paypal and they say my transaction was also completed correctly to the seller. My concern is why after only using Paypal for the first time is this happening, they must have a leak in their security. I brought both Wells Fargo and Paypal to this site to show them the other posts and was told by both they would forward my complaint and this website to their fraud departments. I'm glad I found this site !!

Voicemail from 877-346-5272 claiming to be Wells Fargo that an online payment was returned and they needed to get a call back by April 15 or the money would be redeposited in my account.

I also received a phone call from a telemarketer claiming to be from Wells Fargo Online Services.  That one of my payments had been returned and that I needed to call them at 877-346-5272 and give them reference number 80227694 to get the payment processed.

The guy was foreign.

I called Wells Fargo and they confirmed that it was not them and put my account on Fraud Alert.

its not fraud! pay your bills! they are just calling you cause you didnt have money in your acct and now you owe what you thought you paid! or maybe even have a credit return cause you typed in the wrong acct number!

Call, saying it was eTrade with a returned payment.  They gave me reference number.  I called eTrade with a know telephone number and they had no returned payment. It's some kind of scam.

I made a payment from my bank account to Wells Fargo for my mortgage.  Forgot and used that same card to get gas.  Didn't have enough in my bank account to cover the mortgage.  Wells Fargo received the payment.  This company - Metevante covered the payment.  I called the number, and was simply told, make sure the account has enough to cover the debit and it will be deducted from the account tomorrow.  They didnt' ask for account numbers, just asked for the Service Request No. that was included in the letter they mailed to me.  Doesn't sound like fraud to me.

I got a email from the company with the number 1-877-346-5272 stating my online bill pay did not clear but "as a courtesy" they paid the amount for me.  Mind you my bank in a year has never paid a bill for me if I am over my allowed overdraft amount.  So I called the number and spoke to "Gail" asking them to fax me proof of the payment made to my mortgage company so I can back track the payment because the mortgage company has no payment on file.  She refused to fax me the information but would send it to the mortgage company showing proof it was done but I find it awfully funny I am the account holder yet I am not entitled to the copy?  I do think its a scam.  Because any "REAL" company would give first answer the phones with a company name, they would also provide you with a confirmation number, a check number or something and not refuse to provide it the "account holder".  So til they prove me different, they are a scam.

Got two back-to-back calls from 877-346-5272 but they left no message.

This phone number belongs to Metavante, a company owned by FIS, a banking and payment technology company.  They are a third party company who handle online bill payment service for my credit union, Mountain America, and many other banking institutions.  I verified with my credit union that this is who I was to be speaking with in regards to my online bill payment before discussing the matter with a Metavante representative and a MACU representative on a three-way call.  Totally legit.

Scanned the QR code on the email and it resolved nothing.  Scam!   Should this be reported?   Using Postal services would make it a federal crime, would it not?

Yeah not a scam...in my case I paid for the gas bill and didn't have enough funds so they paid it...gave them my verification number from the email...and other than asking for my name and phone number to confirm..they didn't ask for anything else.  They DID NOT ask for my SS# or my bank account #  just said they would resubmit the amount to my account and it would be automatically deducted.

A legitimate number. Handles online bill payment accounts from banking institutions.

They sent an email claiming they needed our info for an electronic bill payment for bestbuy.  All of our bill pay are done automatically through our bank.  SCAM

Received a call from this number.  And an email claiming they made a payment to Chase Loans from by Fifth Third Bank acct. and I need to return this amount to their Electronic Payment Center.  I contacted Fifth Third Bank and they do not use a 3rd party bill payment system.  Theirs is thru Fifth Third. I contacted Chase and they did not have an additional payment made from this company.  Fifth Third put a fraud alert on my account.  This is a SCAM!!!
