- COLLECTOR| 3 repliesThis company is a SCAM. I am a collector in buffalo, NY, the collection capital of the world and have worked for agencies like this one. Payday loans are expensive loans, but TRUST me, you are NOT getting served or going to jail, or getting "picked up" for it. The bad check laws are a way to scare people into paying these loans back because most people that take them out do not have the means to pay back 3x what they borrowed. ACH transactions are used to pay back these loans, which are electronic checks, but do not follow the states bad check laws, also, they are postdated which also are not included in the laws. Also beware of balances that are seemingly way too high. Unless you borrowed 600+ your balance should not ever exceed $1000. And finally, there is no option of going to jail as a debtor, if you dont pay it they can put a lien on your property, bank accounts, tax returns, and/or garnish wages depending on your states laws.. HOWEVER, this only happens once you are contacted by a LAW FIRM, if arrangements cannot be made with them, then they serve you to appear in court, if you do not appear or you lose then and only then can these actions take place upon COURT ORDER.
Hope I helped.- Caller: ALLIANCE GROUP
- Something| 2 repliesI got a call from these people stating I had a court order under my name and SSN, thiough they neglected to identify either. This leans towards threatening as I have no reason to be in such a position. I called back and someone named Martinez hung up on me before I could finish saying or asking anything. I called back, spoke with a woman who said "didn't you just call?" I explained that the guy hung up on me. She asked if I told them not to call. I said I didn't get a chance to say much but was planning to say that before I was cut off. She said my name had been taken off their list. What I neglected to tell her was that I have reported them to the FCC - which I now do with all these intrusive scam calls, texts, and emails. Unfortunately for them, I still have the somewhat threateneing message on my answering machine. Worse than losers....

- KL replies to COLLECTORI received a call from 877-349-6951 yesterday, they said something about a court order and I have 72 hours to call them before they proceded with court actions, something like that, he talked fast. I had an online loan that has been paid off but they did have a payment that didnt go through because my paycheck was late but they got it out of my acct the next pay date. I don't know if that is what they are calling about or if it is a scam. I really don't need court papers in my mail box. What should I do, just wait and if so, will I get slammed with major fees if that happened? thanks
- JI got a voice mail message from someone saying they were from the Lion's/Lyon's group and that a court order has been filed bearing "your" name and social security number and that I had 72 hours to respond. They did not say whose name (mine or my husbands) or what SS#. I immediately called back the number they gave me and was sent to voice mail which I could not leave a message on because it was full. I tried 3 more time to reach the person (Mark Collins) and each time was sent to a full so you can't leave a message voice mail. I'm trying to find this business on the web to see if I can at least get a chance to talk to a real person and get some information!

- KerbearThese people called me last week and left a message and I called right back with extension 1002 and left a voice mail for a Mike Mathus and he never called back. Now I just got a voice mail message from someone saying that they were from the Lance Group and if I don't call back within 72 hours that a court order will be filed and that I never called them back. So I tried calling back 3 times and pressed 0 for an operator and no one answered, then the next time I held on the line and got some Mark Collins guy's voice mail and it was full. Then the 3rd time I called I dialed ex 1002 again and no one picks up. I did have 3 payday loans and they are paid in full and I have proof, please someone tell me that these people aren't for real!! Any suggestions on what to ask or say to them if I ever get to talk to someone?

- grand459| 7 repliesJust curious..I got a call today from a Mark saying he was with Alliance saying we owed 819.00 on 200.00 payday loan which was paid off or they would continue to file bad check charges if we didn't pay it by Wedniesday Dec. 8th. They said they had been sending paperwork which we have never received He was very rude. He asked if he should proceed with the charges and my husband told him to go ahead. Has anybody been served with these charges yet?

- CG| 1 replyI received a voicemail stating to call back 877-349-6951 and that a court order has been filed bearing "your" name and social security number and that I had 72 hours to respond. People, you never know who is on the other end of the line. When they do not tell you the name or any information on who it may be, it is a SCAM. I called back when I had a chance once to see who is on the other end since I had no names. Well Mark Collins is the name at the other end. I DO NOT have any type of payday loans or anything of the sort, so I find this amusing as to how far people will go to collect a debt that you may not even owe. Its Christmas and here is a Grinch trying to steal it quickly. Do not call them back more than once and when you see the name, hang up or ignore the call. It is all a waste of time. Let them go through whatever process they wish to scare people and pass all of this information to all of your friends, that way in the future ANY SCAM will be seen immediately. Have a great Christmas and New Year!

- LQ| 5 repliesI received a voicemail stating to call back 877-349-6951 and that a court order has been filed bearing "your" name and social security number and that I had 72 hours to respond. So I call back and they're claiming that there is a depostion under my name with the District Attorney's office for a bad check that was presented my bank, Commerce, to Bahamas Marketing Group. And that my account is closed with Commerce. First of all, Commerce is now TD Bank, who I have a good reputation with and I have never taken out a loan with Bahamas Marketing Group. After telling all this to the guy on the phone, he then proceeds to say "Oh so should we continue with these proceedings?" And I told him to go ahead. Let's see what happens.

- Ms. NThis is a scam!!!! I also received a phone call from The Alliance Group indicating that I have a court order from phone number 1-877-349-6951. When I called the number back the line was busy, so I selected the operator which linked me to a persons voicemail by the name of Mark Collins. I figured it was a scam since they did not say my name or indicated my social security number. Plus, I do not have any outstanding debt. Trust me, don't be scamed.

- KimbaThis is ridiculous, I just received a phone call at our lace of buisness. A national line that belongs to no person in paticular. It was an audio recording stating A lawsuit is filed and that I will be served and they hung up. They stated no name of who they were trying to serve. This needs to be reported to a legal department for consumer's rights.

- Joe| 1 replyThis is an investigation firm that tracks down delinquent accounts for several companies. You may be listed as a reference or personal friend on ANOTHER PERSONS credit application, thus you received a non descript recorded call. When you call back Mark Collins has a maxed out voice mail TRY EXT 1001,1002, 1003 and 1004 until you get a live body. In my case they were looking for a previous employee that used me as a reference. They won't give you much info BUT will identify themselves and who they are looking for information on. It sucks but if you don't respond they will keep coming at you, because they get paid a percentage of what they collect.

- Won't be a victim| 3 repliesthese [dirtyword redacted] are the lowest of the low. I asked on the phone for proof, they sent a simple e-mail with no proof. I sent an informal e-mail requesting proof; they did not provide, instead they said, and i quote, "IT EITHER IS OR ISNT AT THIS POINT YOU CAN GET ALL THAT INFO IN YOUR SUMMONS". Caps and all. "Yelling" in e-mail, very mature. These folks go by at least three names:
The alliance group [web, phone]
The allied group [email]
ACN and Associates [email] - this gets a lot of informational google hits.
Some e-mails come from gmail.com. That's a sign of a legit business.. NOT.
I contacted a lawyer and got advice from them and will be faxing a demand letter with a confirmation page, in the absence of a mailing address for them. They have blatantly violated the TCPA and FDCPA. If they show in court, I will file a countersuit and look for any possible way to get criminal charges pressed over violation of federal law, and the considerable stress they've put me under.
I have filed complaints with the TN Consumer protection agency, the GA Consumer affairs division (the state their fax and outgoing calls come from), the FTC, The TN Attorney Generals office, and on the advice of the AG's office, a police report. I suggest everyone else do the same. A demand letter is a MUST as soon as they contact you. Fax it to the fax number on their webpage. With a confirmation letter. Reference the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, 15 USC 1692g Sec. 809 (b). Know that bill and that section and how and when they can contact you. Make yourself a google voice account and have them contact you on that number - press 4 on an incoming call and RECORD THE CALL. Check to see if your state is a one-party consent state, but federally it is, and in any event, the application announces to serve as the two-party notification. Save ALL voicemails and correspondence. Save proof of contact. e-mails count. Make complaints with all the above agencies (Obviously, replace TN with your state of residence, but GA is where they're calls are apparently coming from though that can be spoofed). Get informed - it's your best weapon against them.
their website is thealliancegroup dot us but good luck finding info for them.
