- AC_Oak| 2 repliesThis number displays as CIBC, but they claim to be working for President's Choice Financial and First Line. PC Fin has no affiliation to CIBC other than to share their ATMs. These calls are totally fraudulent. I have received similar calls from CIBC - 416-784-9499. When I called that number there was an out of service recording on it. I called CIBC and they were able to confirm that it was not one of their phone numbers. Do not give these people any personal information. I have reported this fraud to Phone Busters at http://www.phonebusters.com/. The more reports they get, the better.
- Caller: CIBC/PC Financial/First Line
- SLFraudulent! Ignore and report!
They had asked for personal information to which I denied and indicated I would call the bank myself. Wasted 30 mins of my life calling the banks to find out it was a fraudulent call. I have reported to phone busters www.phonebusters.com as well.- Caller: Presidents Choice
- Ticked Offthey call repeatedly, nobody there when you answer, very creepy, called the number back within 30 seconds and its a disconnected number.
- doubleks replies to AC_OakCIBC underwrites PC Financial through Amicus Bank as part of their on-line banking system. Yes they do share ATM's but if you have a PC Financial account you cannot use the teller service at CIBC. Personally I do not like to give info over the phone unless I have initiated the call and know who I am supposed to be talking to. You can also have them verify some of the info for you so you can be confident you are talking to the right people. When I called back to number 877-372-4033 it was an office from First Line (PC Financial) for mortgage information.
- AnonymI'm getting sick of these people calling. I get at least 30 calls in one day
- Caller: Unknown
- Vinny| 2 repliesThese guys keep calling me, even after I called my bank. I coincidentally did have a problem to talk to the bank about, but I called the main banking number, not the one the person on the phone gave me after I refused to provide my info over the phone.
They still keep calling me, even though I already rectified my problem. Called them back and they don't state which company their from, when I asked the lady on the phone who I'm calling she said it was CIBC and PC and First Line mortgages. First line mortgages is a small time mortgage broker that claims to be a division of CIBC but I don't believe it.- Caller: First Line Mortgages
- Lolly replies to VinnyFirst Line mortgages and PC financial ARE affiliates of CIBC - I know because my mortgage is through Firstline and I bank through PC financial (if you have a "real Canadian Superstore" in your city you should be familiar with PC financial - they're the ones that offer free groceries when you sign up for a PC mastercard). You can so use the ATM's at CIBC's you just can't get a tellar to help you when or if you need them too, again I use the CIBC one across the street all the time. Now, this number HAS been calling me repeatedly for the last couple weeks, and when I answer all I get is dead air - like someone else said - its REALLY CREEPY.
- steve replies to AC_Oakpc financial is cibc they are a direct subsidulary, and deal with pc mortguages
- Not A GoofyI've got several calls a day from this number. It must be a new version of thes multiple dialing machines. When I answered the call I hear a recorded message saying: This is CIBC Toronto. Please hold while we transfer you to the next available agent. As I didn't have any intention to waste my time while waiting for the next available agent I hung up.
- Caller: 1-877-372-4033
- pt24I get calls from this number every day at the same time. There is never any message. Is it possible to block these numbers from calling? I'm getting VERY sick of being constantly bugged!
- Caller: ??? Assuming it is the one mentioned above.
- pizzacatI've been receiving 4 calls a day from these people, days in a row.
I don't answer them anymore. It is very frustrating. I'm glad I found this forum to shed some light onto who is calling me.
One of the telltale things that made these calls so sketchy is that they are calling me 4 times a day but have never left a message. My bank (PC Financial) has called me before and they always leave a name, phone number, and a message. If someone needs to get a hold of you so bad to call 4 times a day but can't leave a message, it raises up red flags for me.
Hopefully it ends soon..- Caller: 1-877-372-4033
- jbyeah i've been getting calls from these guys I called it back when i wouldn't give my personal info to the woman she got rude and hung up on me. i called cibc the real one and this number is not in there system but he called it and they told him there cibc collections, so when i called it back again I asked the guy which department it was he hesitated then said collections i told him i will not be giving out any personal info over the phone that if they call me they should have it in there system, he said they won't cal me anymore which was very weird since nothing had been resolved. Now I do have a mortgage through pc and am in the process of refinancing my home and they never brought up any issues, so it makes you wonder what these guys are trying to get. be careful.
- Caller: cibc?
- PiszedThey called 3-4 times a day for a few weeks, stopped, then just called again about a month later. Ughh.... I never answered them
- JSS| 1 replyThis number has been calling me for 2 months now non stop and has reached about 30 times a day. It sometimes says CIBC and other times says PC Financial, other times just 1877-372-4033. After I finally called them they wouldn't tell me who they are but wanted all my information. The thing they didn't know is I work for one of the largest banks in Canada and work in the fraud and scams division. Big mistake for these guys but im sure they will just forfeit this number and move onto another one. It has now been reported. Its pretty sad what some people do for a living to get ahead.
JSS- Caller: CIBC, PC FINANCIAL
- Annoyed replies to JSSThank you JSS for your due diligence! I'm still getting calls from this number and it's now March. It shows up on my call display as CIBC. Hopefully, it will end soon - and good riddance.
- KfalStarted getting calls from this number in the past couple weeks on my business cell. They are persistent as I don't answer and they don't leave messages. Now that I have read the info on this site, I know not to bother. Thanks all!
Kfal- Caller: No name displayed
- This is a scam| 1 replyJust missed this call and it said CIBC on display called three times in a row. - Caller: CIBC Fraud
- CalCIBC and Sears are the worst, we used to get sales calls from them all the time. Lately this above number has been calling. The solution? Get a call number blocking service from your phone company. I use Shaw. Just put the number in and you'll never be called again!
- FlyingYankeeGot a call from this number 1-877-372-4033 twice today. Didn't answer the phone.
