- clydeAdvised by caller, Ed Taylor that my status had been changed and that this call commanded my attention and that I should call 1-877-389-1132 immediately..Nothing mentioned about who he worked for or what it was about..I googled the number and it was telemarketer from some debt consolidation company....

- IliasYes, the Mystery Man Ed Taylor. Got the same message on my answering machine for an entire week. Its not exactly a debt consolidation company. The business' name is Clear Check. What's happening is, some companies when a check bounces, rather than going after the person who wrote the check, will forward the check to a special kind of debt collection service to which they subscribe. The collection service makes a profit by keeping a percentage of any money recovered, which is why this kind of company is so persistant. This has happened to me twice since I moved to my new home. My phone number is apparently the same as someone else once had, someone who made a few phone calls to some 1-900 numbers and didn't pay. This type of business is legal, and good for businesses who have to deal with customers writing bad checks. But its definitely annoying for the guy like me who handles his finances well and pays his bills.

- IliasGoing on three weeks now since I started getting the Ed Taylor messages. I've called the number few times. They're definitely trying to collect a debt from someone, not me. The first two times I was assured that my number would be removed from their list. Tonight I had enough and asked to speak to Ed Taylor directly. Of course I was told that he wasn't available and that his contact information couldn't be made available to me. Supposedly my number really has been removed from their list this time. But we'll see...

- John DoeAfter a recent trip, I discovered "ed taylor" had called every day for a month or more (can't be sure of the total because my answering machine became overloaded).

The message was always the same: "Your status has changed." I don't owe anyone any money, I carry no debt, consequently these calls are pure harassment.- Caller: "Clear Check"

- h0llYw00dReceived automated Ed Taylor voicemail today. Did research online and was suspicious. I was confident I didn't have any outstanding debts so I called them and it was the wrong name associated with my #. They removed my # and all is good!

- RainKing422I've been getting a number of calls from this mysterious number, but I haven't called them back. Have no delinquent debts and don't write checks (only use my check card) so I know this must be a mistake. I figure that if they can't clearly identify on the message they leave who it is they're calling for or who the heck they are (called using an automated message!!??) they don't deserve to collect their money from whoever it is they're trying to get it from (certainly not my debt). Awful shady sounding though.
- Caller: Clear Check I guess (Quick Check?)
- VladySecond time this company has left a message at weird hours on my cell phone. The first time I was nice, the second time, not so nice. If they call again, I'll look in to what I can do legally to spank them. They're confusing my company with another that has a similar name. I don't even write checks. I told the first person this and they said "sorry, won't happen again". The second time, I told them they had the wrong company, I asked for the woman's name and she hung up on me. Cowards! It's the lowest of people that practice these types of collection activities. Before you threaten people, make sure you have the right person! Idiots!

- GWBReceived a phone message from a very serious sounding voice saying my status had changed and that I need to call this number immediately. I dogpiled the number, 1-877-389-1132 and got this website.
- chuckSimple collection agency... just got home from work, had one voice mail... some lady asking that the call be returned and then she rudely coughed and snorted all into the phone hahaha... anyway, i called, they removed my number. A little history here, i recently aquired this number with my new cable phone, only had it a week and allready got two different calls for a Larry Hinkle, collection agency.... Larry, if you find this, pay your damn bills! :-P

- Mary KHave received phone calls from this phone number for the last few days. They do not say who they are other than "David King" needs to return their call immediately. So today I returned their call, the system answered "Clear Check." I explained I had no idea who David King was and all I knew about him is that we share the same last name (and King is pretty common a name). So he repeated the name to me, "David M. King, you don't know who he is?" Umm, didn't I JUST say that? I simply said "I have no clue who he is." He thanked me and said he would take care of it. Hopefully it will be because this is not the first time I have received phone calls for him and some woman...and though the calls all claim to remove our number, they eventually call again. I'm really sick of this David King guy and wish he would start paying his bills...and stop using our phone number.
- Caller: Clear Check
- not itGot the message. It was obviously for the wrong person. My husband has a very common name. Called to get our number removed. The lady on the other end asked if I knew anyone by the name of "my husband's name." I said, "Yes. That's my husband's name, his father's name, his grandfather's name and my son's name." I told her she might be looking for one of them. She said, "Can you give them this message?" What!? Idiot.
