Said he was with IRS auditing and when I asked his title called me "honey" and said he was an officer with the Federal Government.  I asked him not to call me honey and he said "May I call you [***]?"

Left a message and Identified himself as an IRS auditor and said it was urgent to respond.  Called Attorney and they said it was a scam.  There are several letters that they will send out before ever calling.  Also they will leave a badge number as well.

Says they are from IRS. He said I owe money. He said today IRS will be at your door to arrest you unless you pay $3000.00 in 15min. He used all kind of words to terrorize me. He said he can accept money over the phone. He is so desperate. He even said he will accept Credit Card. I let him talk and finally when I said I am going to call IRS and will report this phone number he gets really quiet for 30sec and hang up the phone on me. He has Indian or Pakistan accent but said his name is Raymond. Please do not I repeat do not fall for this. Every household should get an e-mail about this scam because I have a feeling anybody can fall for this and lose their money..  

I got the same call as above.  The young man was reading form a prepared script. Claims I owed $3511.00

We got called. When I called back, he answers IRS. When do you ever get straight through to a government agent? Very scary scam.

I got a call from 877-403-6251 regarding a lawsuit of tax audit.

Got the same call FUCKN TERRORIST!!!!!!!!!!!! Said the authorites will be at my home in 45 min. I told them send them I have 2000 rounds of 5.56 waiting for them!

2014-08-20 - same guy left 2 messages back to back on my phone today, said he was from "the Tax Audit Department with the IRS" and that I *must* call him back immediately or legal proceedings would be instantly started against me (when is the last time any government agency did anything "instantly"?)  Accent was quite thick, was difficult to understand.

I am embarrassed to say that I fell for this scam yesterday (8/19/14) and lost a sizable sum of money (all cash paid to buy cash-cards!). I used to consider myself wiser than falling for such a scam, but they masterfully scared and duped me!

The story and the approach is very similar to what others have reported. What saddens me is to see posts today that match exactly my situation, that means those [***] are still at it hot and heavy. I did file a report with my local police department, and filled out the form on the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration site too (mentioned in an earlier post), but I am doubtful anything can be done effectively to those [***] half a world away. I do hope they rot in hell!

By the way I did the whitepages.com reverse phone number look up and it said it could not find the number, so I am wondering if those [***] have already moved on to a different phone number. Please get the word out to your friends and family. I have already done that. And I do hope someone finds a way to get those [***].

The caller said Toll Free Number above the phone number. I did not answer it but let it go to the answering machine. The message was similar to those already listed here. Used threatening language and said I owed money or I would be arrested.

I got the same call saying I owe 3511 and I have one hour to call the attorney DO NOT FALL FOR IT . i told him to pull his di** OUT of his mouth and talk so I can understand him

Let the answering machine pick up since it came up toll free call. Said I owed money to IRS. Needed to call right away to avoid legal action. I could barley understand him.  

Got the same call today. Thanks to this site i told them to [***] off. Big time scam.

I was told that there was a complaint on file on my name and he said that he was from the Washington DC audit department and that they have tried to serve me papers twice and that some federal agents would be at my house with in 30 min. He even stated the days and times they "tried to serve me". He stated that I had a case file number which he gave me and was telling me the "years I defrauded the government" and was given a tax refund when I should've paid. He said how all my assests would be frozen today, anyways I told him I would hang up and call the local police department to see if this was a scam. It was and I didn't give them anything they wanted but its scarry how they can sound professional about it in some ways that they could convince some people. SICK SICK people that hopefully will be arrested someday.

Called,knew my home address.Threatened my family,said I was in trouble

Just received a call from an Indian sounding male who stated I was auditied by IRS and owe money that the federeal agent came to my home to sere me and because I wasn't home I am receiving a courtesy call for them to collect my debt. I asked him to verify my address and he knew my full address. I started feaking out and told him I will call them myself. He gave a case number and said promise to call in 2 hours. I simply cannot believe this is happening. This is crazy. As I was trying to look up IRS phone number and came across a scam article on their site warning about the telephone scams. Then I tried calling the number back that showed up on my caller ID he answered right way saying" Thank you for calling IRS, how may I help you"?
While I was on hold for IRS for more than 15 minutes. FISHY. I than googled the number and sure enough ended up in this blog. Thank God for it, because I can breath again and my heart palpitations subsided :(....

This number just called harassing me do NOT fall for it!!!

Same here -- caller with heavy Indian accent left message claiming to be from the IRS and that I needed to call back immediately. Funny, but he nearly messed up the phone number to call back on (long pause as if he was reading from a cue card).

I f you receive a call from anyone with an Indian accent either (1) threatening you or (2) offering you something, you can be sure it's 100% a scam.  You should immediately hang up.

The Indian accent is a dead giveaway these days.

Have had two calls within a week from these people.  Sounded less than official, so looked it up, but concerned about older people who do not use internet and can fall for this scam.
