- me too| 3 repliesReceived a yellow postcard in the mail to call this number with the company name AM Distribution located at 840S Edgewood Avenue in Jacksonville, Florida 32205. The card says to call Ms Jackson to have a package delivered. I am not expecting a package. I believe this is a scam of some sort - obviously it is mail fraud since I did not order any package requiring delivery and even if I did, why would they send a postcard and not just deliver the so-called package??? I did not call them.
- jon| 1 replyI got the exact same exact yellow card this afternoon. I had the same thought - they claim they can't reach you yet they do have your address. Why not send the package instead of the postcard. Maybe Ms Jackson would like to cover and see the package I have for her.
- christina replies to jonWe got the same yellow card and message. It's an obvious scam and I worry about those who fall for it.
The address on the front of the card is hand written to give it a personal feel - nickI also received a card informing me to call this number and ask for Ms. Jackson. After they kept calling my house I called them and "Ms. Jackson" told me I had been selected to receive a free bottle of Tide with Downy and a free water system inspection with on-site results. After I told her that I thought this was a scam and that I was reporting them to the Better Business Bureau, she said thank you and hung up. Most definitely a scam.
- ellenIt is suspicious at best. I am throwing out my yellow card - thx to those who wrote in.
- Caller: AM Distribution, "Ms. Jackson"
- ellenOops - I listed the company to which I was referring - I am a consumer, not from that company!
- everestReceived yellow card asking to call back for the "good news" they have for me. Addressed form jacksonville, FL. Did not call, suspect definite scam. How do these people get away with this if they give away their phone and address?

- NJ Houston TX| 2 repliesI received the green card said that "We have been trying to reach you to deliver your package and we know how our schedule get hectic. Please call us today at 877-418-5562, so we can deliver your package promptly". I called them and one lady told me that the houston city wants to check the water quality in my house. I agreed to see them. Then they send a guy to demonstrate the water filter and try to sell it for 1 hour. I don't agree to buy it, then he called his boss, then I talked to his boss, but still don't want to buy it. And the old man left.
After he left, I wonder if this is a trick to access my house with bad intention ??? (I recorded his plate number - just in case). This can be also a fraud marketing.

- NJ Houston TXAh, I forgot to mention that the number they used to call me is 912-257-0233. I checked in Internet, that is unpublished number, location is Savannha, GA.
- CS replies to me tooI received the same message and didn't call either after reading your post.
- markI recently moved into a new home. Ever since I've gotten a ton of such mail ranging from pest control to home security and theatre systems Companies such as these use items like deed postings and pounce. Like the other posts, I received a yellow card, and although they have my address, they can't seem to find it to deliver my package. It may not be a complete Scam, but it is an unethical means to build a customer base. Do you really need a water softener, and would you buy one from a company with such business practices?

- Connie replies to me tooWe received the same yellow postcard asking us to contact a Ms. Jackson to receive our package. We have ordered no packages.
- Anna from Savannah| 1 replyReceived the same Yellow postcard dated 10/12/2010, from AM distribution, 840S Edgewood AVe. Jacksonville, FL 32205. Obviously a scam. I hope this forum is an effective means to stop these unethical practices. It certainly preys on those people who may be in need of help the most. Does the FTC monitor these messages or is there another resource to report these deceptive practices?

- SoozieIf you have registered with the United States "Do Not Call" registry, then telemarketers cannot call you (political and non-profit orgs don't fall into this law).
The only way a company that is trying to sell you something can call, is if YOU get in touch with THEM. If that happens, YOU have just created a "Business Relationship" and they can call you for the next 3 months.
The only way around this - if you have opened up the door (by calling them) and they are now allowed to call you, you have to tell them to put you on their Do Not Call List. After that, they can get fined.
Check out the rules on the Federal Trade Commission website, specifically question 31 - it addresses this situation in the 2nd paragraph.
Question 31 My number is on the National Do Not Call Registry. After I bought something from a company, a telemarketer representing that organization called me. Is this a violation?

- bubbaIt's Vet Day and they are still at it. Color is yellow and the phone is changed to 866-863-5217 which does not cross ref on White Pages. The 28 cent postcard benefits the USPS which needs the revenue but no other benefit accrues. A ball of cotton might work as well as their product. The card was hand addressed giving it a look of authenticity. I guess that person also benefits from copying lists to the tune of minimum wage. Sigh!
