Unauthorized Charge to my Credit Card - 28 May 2008Apparently this is not only a "debt collector" but also someone who is fraudulently making charges to credit/debit cards. The following has appeared on my statement "POS PURCHASE MERA MERA 8774312833 TX" in the amount of $9.80 and I intend to file a fraud chargeback and also report it to the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center at http://www.ic3.gov

Melissa - 29 May 2008I was too charged on my credit card for $9.75 from "MERA 8774312833 TX". Called the card company up and they reversed the charges and are issuing me a new card just in case.

Same thing happened to the company I work for on their company cards, but it was too much of a pain for them to dispute it so they just paid it. That's how these "Mera" people are making money - making charges less than $10 so that people won't even bother to dispute it.

MERA making fraudulent charges - 3 Jun 2008I had this same issue happen through my debit card. I contacted B of A and they put a hold on the charge but the company, MERA, forced it through VISA and now I have to jump thru numerous hoops just to get the charge removed. This is fraud with a capital F!

sid - 19 Jun 2008i had 9.80 charged to my credit card. protested it. sent a complaint to the state atty general - they can't find the company either. don't know how mera got my card number cancelled the card

Cyndy - 24 Jun 2008Oh My Gosh!!! yes I had the same thing happen to me.. I noticed on my Visa card that I had a charge of $9.75 from some company called Mera??? I called my credit card company and they looked up the telephone number on the charge, and they said it is a Hobby, Toy and Game shop!! I told them I NEVER Bought anything from this place... How the HELL did they get my Credit Card Number??? So My credit card company took the charge off for me and is sending me a new credit card.. I have been trying for two days, constantly, trying to call this number and all I get is a message saying that no-one is available, and to leave a message on their voice mail.. then you get a message saying that the mailbox is FULL!! Ha..Ha.. What a joke!! Who do I call. I tried to contact the BBB, but they say the Phone number I give isn't listed as a Business??!! How can people get away with this???

DJ S - 29 Jun 2008Just found out that my card was charged 9.85 from MERA. Same details as the other post. Credit card company reversed the charge and issues a new credit card. I only use this card for 2 automatic charges every month...ADT and Ez-Pass. Maybe one of the two had a security breach.

Gert - 7 Aug 2008Me too, just got my statement on my card and there is a $9.75 charge from Mera. We called the phone number and got the voice mail, leave a message, and then the box is full thing. I will report this to my bank and see where we go from there.

Mo - 11 Jun 2008Same thing, unauthorized charge of $9.85 to my credit card with the vendor designated as 877-431-2833. Bank has reversed the charges but seems like this is a major scam. Called the 877 # and got some automated message sending me to voicemail which was full.

Pat from Germantown, MD - 19 Jun 2008On 6/13/08 I was charged $9.75 to my VISA account. Called MERA at 877-431-2833. Also heard the electronic voice directly to leave a message on a full voice mail box. I have notified my bank, closed my visa, filed a local police report, will be calling the credit bureau(to see if there is any other activity I don't know about)and will be reporting this to the FBI.
