- Blue SkiesI received a call from this number. It was a process server trying to confirm an address on my ex-wife to serve her with a lawsuit. Something about insurance fraud. Glad I divorced her!
- Christopher MI received a call and they left a message on my answering machine. I didn't get the complete message, but my brother called and said they wanted to talk to me. They said on the message that they had "conflicting facts". I called and got a machine saying that if I knew the extention of the attorney to put it in or hold.
- Caller: unknown
- JudyReceived called saying he had conflicting information and needed to clarify with me. To please call. No way I will speak with them. Never heard of that company
- Caller: John Nelson
- JoeReceived a call from a John Nelson saying he has to verify some information about someone and cant leave the info on an answering machine.
- Sydney| 1 replyReceived this same message. This is obviously a scam. Don't call the number back. All of these posts on this number were from the last few days which just means that the person from this number just started calling folks. No one else has reported anything on this number prior to the last few days. Scam. Ignore it.
- Caller: John Nelson
- SydneyThis is a scam. Don't believe what people are posting here. No professional would call and leave such a cryptic message. Ridiculous.
All of these posts have been within the last few days. If there is another person on the other line then they will try to get information out of you to potentially use against you in a scam. Do not call.- Caller: John Nelson
- Momreceived the same message about conflicting information and need to call and clear this up today. NO company name or person calling name, but said "ask for me"
- joI got a call with the same thing other people are posting. First of the message was cut off, so I'm thinking it must have been a recording. When I called back "John" was on a conference call, but had conveniently given the guy on the phone my file. He said I was the person they were looking for, and asked if I knew "Jean Laforest". I said I have no idea who that is. He said "Thank you for your cooperation" and hung up on me. This is incredibly fishy. I asked the name of the company and he said "Regent" or something like that.
- PatReceived a phone call from John Nelson who said he had been given another file, location issues, someone I know, conflicting info. I phoned back but he was on conference call and the answerer would not identify the firm........
- Caller: no ID provided
- AAlso just received a call from these guys - if you Google 877-792-0095 it's the same guys.
And same as everyone else - my voice mail started off with "....but I can't leave that information on an answering machine. Give me a call back at ..... " So it's obviously automated.
I don't think I'll call back. - AWell I called them back. The name of the company is Regent Asset Management. They are collecting on an old US Bank account. He told me I had until 5:00 to call back with payment before he put his "stamp of approval" on moving forward, whatever that means. Doesn't scare me.
- Call type: Debt collector
- ChrisI received a call from this number. First off, the message was cut off and he said to "call me back". Who the hell is "he"? I'm not going to call him back!
- Legal Atty| 1 replyUnder the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act a reputable debt collector is not allowed to communicate derogatory information concerning a debtor to third parties. Debt Collectors, in general, will use the information they garner from these phone calls in order to send a debt collection notice to your current residence. If a Debt Collector violates the FDCPA they are subject to a $1000 fine, per instance, under Federal Law... That would be why they refuse to communicate the reason why they are calling.
The best thing to do in these instances is to tell them who you are if they ask. Then, assuming they are a legitimate debt collector (as seems to be the case here) ask them to verify the debt in accordance with the FDCPA. Finally, verify whether an actual debt may very well exist under the FCRA (Fair Credit Reporting Act). You can request a free annual report from any of the three major credit reporting agencies by going to www.annualcreditreport.com (NOT freecreditreport.com!).
My advice is to deal with this company before they sell the debt to a less legitimate company that doesn't comply with the FDCPA - those are a pain in the ass. If you'd rather not follow that course of action, that's also fair enough. All the same, the above information is intended for educational purposes only. Any of the information outlined above does not constitute legal advice, and does not create an attorney-client relationship.
This information is gathered from over six months spent as a Legal Assistance Attorney for the U.S. Army.- Call type: Debt collector
- guest replies to Legal AttyRegent Asset management is not a legitimate collector. They knowingly violate the FDCPA. I have turned over the history of their contact to me to my State's Attorney General's Office. Their claims against me are not valid, yet the calls & even written threats continue. I have formally asked for a full media validation of the claimed debt and they can not produce it - only more threats they will sue if I don't pay them. They are claiming I owe on an account with a bank I have ever done business with, and I have verified nothing abnormal shows on my credit account.
Do not give this company ANY information. It is a pure scam. - L. PetersMessage left as is in follow up to earlier communication about a file on someone I know that had conflicting information, I should call back "and we can get this wrapped up right away."
- Caller: "John Nelson " -- no company named
- Da John Nelson called saying that he received another file that has some conflicting information in it, and he wants me to call back to verify the information. sounds like a scam to me.

- Just Me replies to SydneyI just got this call about 5 minutes ago. I did answer on the first ring, but the message stated it couldn't leave a message on the machine. It was a recorded message. My machine wasn't even on. There was static on my line and I could barely hear the guy, but did catch something about discrepancies in my account. He didn't ask for anyone in particular.
I got the SAME call about 3 weeks ago - bufbilThis clown calls up once a week with the same bull as the other postings. We never call back
- Caller: unknown
- MOMx3We have impeccable credit score....never missed a payment in 28 years of marriage....same exact calls been received twice and he is still calling and leaving msgs. I plan to turn them in, but where?
- TDJJust got a call on my cell from this number.
When I picked it up (my mistake), got a fast busy signal.
But I have been left messages by John Nelson in the past.
Always ignored them before.
