When I called this number back the receptionist answered "Good afternoon this is Providence" but when I spoke with a representative he would not give me any additional information on the type of business or agency it was.

They called me this morning and a guy named Mike Bell said he was calling from the fraud department at Global One Arbitration. He left a message for someone that was NOT me and that the person he was calling for was implicated in fraud and that charges were being made against her and that she should consider herself notified and served. I called this jerk back to let him know he had the wrong number. After several attempts a VERY RUDE girl answered the phone and I when I explained to her that he had the wrong number, she told me he realized that he called me in error and he had her apologize for him. He didn't even have the balls to apologize himself.

One another note, if you get a call from these idiots saying that you have been formally notified and served, don't fall for it. The only way to place a person on notice of a lawsuit is by personal service of a summons. This is a total scam and these people are liars.

Got the same call from Kevin Carmichael...they are breaking so many FDCPA laws, which is a consumer protection signed in by Jimmy Carter in 1977. All agencies are bound by this law and yet they break them all the time. You can turn them in to the attorney general and Federal Trade Commission.

    1. Do you have a payday loan (illegal in many states)?
    2. Did you receive anything in writing (mailed)?  Phone calls mean nothing legally.
If the answer to both is no, it is a scam to extort money from you.

I do have a past payday loan, but I have not received anything in writing. When I called the payday loan company they told that the debt had been sold and it was not to Global One Arbitration.

I am really surprised how this people keep contacting the public. This so called company is a FARCE. These scare tactics they use are illegal on so many levels. Please contact you Attorney General's office in your area so we can put a stop to this.

    Mr. Williams
This company is beyond fraudulent. They use scare tactics and say that Im going to be  arrested and put in jail. I spoke to Mr. Karmicheal and he threatened myself, my family and even my neighbors and employees. This is starting to aggravate me as I was told by my attorney they are currently being investigated throughout the country. Saying you will put me in jail for a pay day loan is just illegal, and I will hope they are shut down soon. Scammers for sure, and Mr. Karmicheal keeps calling and calling and calling, up to 8 times per day. Global 1 Arbitratrion is the name. And scare tactics are there game. Nobody at my county court heard of charges pending also..

I am a single mother and received a call from them today stating I would have a hearing and had 72hrs to respond before a court date would be filed.  Not a call I would like to hear after working a 10 shift and picking up my child from the sitter.  I'm assuming they are not real?

A phone call from a supposed debt collector is not legally sufficient evidence of debt.

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) includes statements such as this:

    * Every collector must send you a written “validation notice” telling you how much money you owe within five days after they first contact you. This notice also must include the name of the creditor to whom you owe the money, and how to proceed if you don’t think you owe the money.   ["Written" means snailmailed ... not emailed or texted]

    Source:
    https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection

Therefore, if that caller wants you to pay immediately, before you get the written validation notice via snailmail, or if the caller wants payment via green dot, Western Union, or other untraceable means, then the call is definitely not legitimate.

IF you wish to communicate with the supposed collector / creditor, visit  the following page, for example "Action Letters" to snailmail:
    http://www.consumerfinance.gov/blog/debtcollection/

If you KNOW you owe no money, or believe the call was from a fake debt collector, please take the time to read this:

SCAM ---You did not receive a summons via mail or process server so there can be no hearing.  Phone calls mean nothing.  This is a scam to scare you into paying them money so "it" will go away.  Give your local police or sheriff's office a call.  They can reassure you!  Do not let the caller scare or intimidate you.  Demand WRITTEN proof of the debt MAILED to you (not a fax, email or phone call).  I doubt you will receive anything other than threats (also illegal).

If you take out a loan, your're broke. So how are you going to pay it back? You can't. Don't take out a payday loan if ya can't pay ya [***]! Complaints that these companies are scams yet you know you owe the debt. Don't borrow money if you know you can't pay it back. That's fraud also.

The only part of your post that even makes the remotest of sense is your use of the word "also", whereby you admit that this company commits fraud.  Thanks for clarifying that, scammer!

i received exactly the same call from the same person... The irony is that I myself am a a victim of identity theft and changed my cell number only a month ago...but these folks managed to get the new cell number nevertheless...sounds like they might be part of the id theft scam... So beware... Don't respond to them...Lifelock advises me to ignore them... Lifelock believes they are scammers...or worse...
