Recorded menu when you call back for American Express.  Gives you an option to select for current card members or new card members.  I don't have an AmEx account so it's either a collection call for the wrong person or a telemarketing call.  Either way I blocked them.

Confirmed. It is American Express collections department.

How were you able to block them?

don't owe anyone anything.  don't know why they keep calling.  i will not call them back.  cannot understand anything they say on the message except tel. number.  i think it is a scam.

I repeatedly get a call from American Express---877-516-0592.
They are trying to reach Michael Butler and there is no with that name at this phone number of
address. I have called them and reported the error but they continue to call me.

I got a voice mail from this number, they did not leave a message just a background noise of 10 seconds or so. I decided not to call back, but this is the 3rd time I got a phone call from them. Annoying indeed!. San Jose CA

American Express calling for my sister-in-law (same last name). She owes them $$. They have been calling every family member with the same last name for a year now. They have even called us at 6 am (we are west coast they are east coast). Very annoying, can't get them to stop!

Recorded message from American Express. Message starts as soon as our company phone system picks up, so we miss the part where they say what they want us to do. Stupidly annoying.

It is a debt collector for someone I used to know 5 years ago.  I blocked the number with my Panasonic phone.

Calls every day, leaves no message. I'm tired of it.

The number is American Express, WARNING! if you call a 800,888, or 877 number  the number you are calling from is displayed to them and there is no way to block it.  I talked to a person (India ?) with an accent who verified the number as being given by a person I did not know, they said they will remove the number and stop the calls.  I'll wait and see.

It is Nationwide Recovery Services, a collection agency for Chase Bank, as well. They use intimidation and psychological techniques to unnerve you and get you to agree to things they know you can't afford. They try to get as much information as they can, including numbers of relatives and anyone else they can harrass, bank accounts, etc. BAD NEWS!

You can file a complaint with the FCC I believe if they are still calling.  Report them as a telemarketer.

As a 3rd-party debt collector for Chase bank, NRS must obey the FDCPA and send you paperwork.

This has going on for over 1 year.

They keep calling my cell phone and don't leave any messages on my voicemail. Don't know who it is but I do have my cell phone registered with the Do Not Call List.( Lot of good that does ! ! ! )

stop the madness

Keep getting recorded messages allegedly from American Express asking for a person who does not live here.  I do not have an account with them.  I've called them three times to tell them there is no one at the number they called by that name and they keep callling.  I've reported all calls to the Do Not Call Registry.  I will delete all future calls and keep reporting them to the Do Not Call Registry.  Who knows it my do some good.
