- AnnaI got a message this morning from some one saying they have paper to drop off and wanted to know when I would be home. They left a number of 877-521-7071. I called them back and was put on hold for a long time and I hung up. Not sure what this is for.
- ok| 1 replyThis woman called me yesterday from a blocked number asking me to verify my address. I asked her who she was and she said she was Jessica, a private investigator. I asked her who she worked for and she said herself. She claims she has docs to serve me regarding "charges". I said Oh really? What kind of charges? She says "You don't know anything about this?!!" I asked her what company she was hired by and she said it really fast and it sounded like she said CRG and gave me this number 877-521-7071. Then she calls me by my maiden name and says YOU HAVE OFFICIALLY BEEN NOTIFIED! lol This is def a scam or collection agency.
- Robin replies to okok - i had the same thing happen to me today and someone knocked on my door about an hour after they called. We never get visitors. I did not answer
- Andy..What was the name of company that called you? I got a call from this # morning asking my home and work address so they could drop of a package and to call them regarding charges and a claim against me.
- ???Someone called my mom and asked if they could pass along a message to me and said that I am being investigated. I called this number back and they said i am being investigated to determine what my assets are as I am being pursued for legal action. I really dont want to disclose on this site but this was from something we did before my wife lost her job.
- Clem| 1 replyA woman keeps calling my work and cell phone from a blocked number. I called the 877-251-7071 and they are a "Collection Mediation Company" and said I have charges pending against me and that I would be going to jail. I explained that they are a collection agency and that she is their representative and that as such she can not call my work and harass me and he needed to put a stop to it. He got very rude and said "that ain't happening". I hung up and immediately received a call from the blocked number. I have dealt with this type of thing before and they can serve me whatever made up papers they like. They threatened in the past and never served anything. They are idiots.
- Caller: Credit Recovery Group
- Call type: Debt collector
- Elspeth replies to ClemPer the FDCPA, you should not pay any caller who refuses to MAIL - do not accept email or fax - proof that you owe a debt and proof that your caller has the legal right to collect said debt. Refusal to mail this documentation to you is a violation of federal law. Debt is civil, not criminal, so no one can be arrested for defaulting on a loan, and to tell you otherwise is yet another violation of federal law.
This is a portion of the information found @ https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection
What practices are off limits for debt collectors?
Harassment. Debt collectors may not harass, oppress, or abuse you or any third parties they contact. For example, they may not:
use threats of violence or harm;
publish a list of names of people who refuse to pay their debts (but they can give this information to the credit reporting companies);
use obscene or profane language; or
repeatedly use the phone to annoy someone.
False statements. Debt collectors may not lie when they are trying to collect a debt. For example, they may not:
falsely claim that they are attorneys or government representatives;
falsely claim that you have committed a crime;
falsely represent that they operate or work for a credit reporting company;
misrepresent the amount you owe;
indicate that papers they send you are legal forms if they aren’t; or
indicate that papers they send to you aren’t legal forms if they are.
Debt collectors also are prohibited from saying that:
you will be arrested if you don’t pay your debt;
they’ll seize, garnish, attach, or sell your property or wages unless they are permitted by law to take the action and intend to do so; or
legal action will be taken against you, if doing so would be illegal or if they don’t intend to take the action.
Debt collectors may not:
give false credit information about you to anyone, including a credit reporting company;
send you anything that looks like an official document from a court or government agency if it isn’t; or
use a false company name.
Unfair practices. Debt collectors may not engage in unfair practices when they try to collect a debt. For example, they may not:
try to collect any interest, fee, or other charge on top of the amount you owe unless the contract that created your debt – or your state law – allows the charge;
deposit a post-dated check early;
take or threaten to take your property unless it can be done legally; or
contact you by postcard. - GHi everyone,
I received two call from this number today. The caller was a male name KYLE MARTIN who left a message on my phone. He stated my information came across his desk this morning. He said he was calling from a law firm but never stated the name of the law firm. He also stated how he had charges pending against me and I only have one opportunity to resolve the situation. He kept repeating a case # over and over again. Then at the end of the call he said you have been officially notified and hung up.- Caller: 8775217071
- irritatedI too got a message from these characters. Only, they called my parents.. who are in their 70s. Knew previous addresses, last 4 of ss #, and told me it was over a credit card I've never had! Threats, and talked of 'charges'.. aggressive to say the least. Asked for proof of debt, avoided answering. Then said... did you intentionally defraud our company.. I said.. yours? Thought u were a third party collector?? Hung up and immediately called back from a .nc #. Ignored it..got a blocked # next. All [***]. Now blocked.
- RandyI got a call from these same people a couple weeks ago. I have not called the number 877-521-7071 to see what this is about and then last night someone was knocking on my door. I told my wife not to answer it because I was not home.
- Roxanne BassMy coworker received an "anoyomous" phone call, today, from someone by the name of John Ford. He asked for me and told her it was in regard to charges against her. He gave her a phone number (877-521-7071) for her to call. When asked what firm he was calling from he said CSR. and gave the case number. This company or person has been calling my cell phone number all hours of the day; even at 11:00pm. He threatened to take me to jail if I didn't give them money. Told me last night around 8:00 pm, that he was headed to my employer to have me fired. They are calling people that are associated with me. This is ridiculous. Someone needs to do something about this. I'm not sure who I need to talk to.

- blpI got the same call yesterday only they were calling for my late husband who has been dead for 14 years! I didn't answer, it is on my answering system. Almost word for word what one of the other callers above said. I didn't call back as I knew it has to be a scam.
- TonyThis guy called Jimmy Smith left my wife multiple intimidating voicemails last week from an unknown number regarding some papers he has to drop. Then he calls my number from 214-736-3851 asking for my wife. I start talking to him and he says he is a private investigator. I ask more questions regarding the document but he says he doesn't know about the document. I asked him if he is serving legal papers, and if he knows which court its from. He says he doesn't know. He just said he was hired by CRG, had a document for my wife with an account number starting with the letters CV, and gave me the 877-521-7071 number. I immediately called a lawyer for free consultation and he said that we should receive the papers. Then I called the number above, talked to a "Specialist" in the mitigation department. She says that her company is a collection agency called Credit Recovery Group, and this is regarding an unpaid Credit Card from back in 2006-2007 which my wife doesn't even recall. She asks if my wife's intent was to commit fraud. We keep saying that we don't even know about this as we never got any letters from any Collection Agencies regarding this. Then she says she can help us take care of it before it goes to court. We keep denying and then she yells "Good Luck in Court" and hangs up. We immediately pull a free credit report for my wife, and there is no mention of that alleged Credit Card debt nowhere. I call back asking for a debt validation letter and this ADR Specialist (whatever that means), Carrie Wilson, emails me one dated that day, like a fresh copy she just put together. I emailed her back asking for original documents etc. Meanwhile, the PI calls back and we set up a time to meet. The guy is a no show. I called him 3-4 times at the 214 number and it goes straight to voice mail. Haven't heard back from Carrie Wilson either. My thoughts: This is probably a SCAM involving intimidation and scare tactics to rob unknowing ppl of their money. I do apologize for this long post but I am so pissed and angry. Plus I'm hoping that this can help someone who gets into the same situation. Thanks.

- AnneSomeone left a message on my phone today, which was not for me. The caller Jimmy Smith stated the name of the individual and when on to state that said his office received an order for charges and a claim against the named person. He then stated that this individual (who I do not know) has 24 hours to call 877-521-7071 before he would place charges. He ended the message with this is a formal claim and you can consider yourself being served. I tried calling the number, but when I said I didn't know the individual he continued to bug me, which is why I did a reverse number check to try and find out the name of the company. After reading the messages posted on this site, my initial thoughts have been confirmed.
- Caller: Don't know, wouldn't tell me.
- InterestingI got my papers today. It is some legal mumbo jumbo about some money my wife and I owe. I didnt call them back after reviewing this site. I am just going to take my chances in court. This sucks...

- Mrs. CampbellI cannot believe these people!! I received 34 calls from them in ONE DAY! Yes, ONE day. So I went ahead and called them back to find out what the hell this was all about. Some guy named Jeremy Boxlever told me that I am being pursued legally for an old overdraft fee on a US bank account that we(my husband and I) only had for like 3 months. The account happened to be overdrawn when we quit using it and they are calling to try to collect on that. Wow, who allows these idiots to operate. My attorney told me to ignore them because they can't actually do anything to me. HOWEVER, this company appears to be operating illegally, threatening to take people to court and such, so it might be worth looking into, but frankly my husband and I just opened a business and don't have time. My attorney also looked up the information for the company, I'm sure that this information is fake, but this is what he found...
