- Jay| 6 repliesIt is a sales call. I received this same call and did not answer. Today in the postal mail I received a"birthday" flyer with the same number stating I would be given 2 round trip airline tickets to any major international or continental USA airport. Simply too good to be true so I am ignoring it all!
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Joe BundaI also got the same mailing and ignored it....

Number Status: IN USE
Service provider
Status Date: 01/21/10
Company: ITC Deltacom
Contact Number: 2563825900
Website: www.deltacom.com
Description: Deltacom is a one-stop provider for communication and technology needs.
Other prefixes for this number - eddie| 5 repliesIt's scammer telemarketers back with old tricks from 1980s whereas they would send out tons of flyers telling you that you won something. Here is the information on the number in the flyer:
Registrant: DeltaCom, 7037 Old Madison Pike, Suite 400,Huntsville, AL 35806. Domain Name: DELTACOM.COM Administrative Contact, Technical Contact: ITC-DeltaCom, 7037 Old Madison Pike, Suite 400, Huntsville, AL 35806. US. 800-239-3000 fax: 256-241-4294
The problem is that when, like in 1980s, millions of these YOU WON!!! or HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! or CONGRATULATIONS!!! junk comes in mail (later by FAX, then by internet, tomorrow hologram!) all it takes is one gullible person to believe they actually won something for them to scam.
With the "$300.00 Merchandise Certificate" in there with dropped names like Walmart, Target or Sears it makes them appear to be affiliated with those companies. They ARE NOT, believe me.
Tonight I think I will go to Kinko,s Office Depot or other place with high volume printers and send out millions of 'You Have Won a Free Out of Control Toyota! and send them out. I bet if I sent out 1000 flyers would get at least 25-50 calls from people who believed the BS scam. Again, all it takes is one gullible person.
There are many databases out there ya'll which have information like birthdays. The information gets passed around like my ex wife in winning team football locker room. Everyone has a chance in other words. With no return address on this flyer, and the birthday cake says 'William' and smaller 'Happy Birthday William' I instantly knew it was a scam unless my 80 year old 4th grade nun, Sister Birchmann, was still alive, as she was last person to call me William. She would be about 143 right now, and still wielding a wicked ruler to calfs and hands if you got out of control and would give you 'The Look Of God' if misbehaving, sends shivers down spine now at 50 years old.
Bottom line it is too good to be true it usually isn't worth time a day. Too bad some places scam people like this, even no calls lists they still call you! Have a good, non scammer birthday day.- Caller: Scammer Birthday Police

- sri| 2 repliesi also got the message today by mail. I was really skeptical but thought I would google to see what's this about. I landed on this page. Thank you everyone who shares their comments on this scam I'm gonna ignore this flyer.

Birthday winner in Texas - glenn| 8 repliesI just called them after eceiving the same birthday notice. The company is very legitimate and I found that it was the same company that I went to hear a travel pitch from 18 months ago at the same location in Northbrook, IL. If you sit through a 90 minute sales presentation, you get the gifts.
After the initial soft sell presentation you are seated at individual tables and someone makes a one-on-one pitch to you which is significantly higher in pressure to buy a travel package, which though attractive was still out of our current price range. When the salesperson comes up empty the keynote speaker and owner comes over and tries to overcome objections and make the package more affordable. If you admit that you just came for the free gifts, you shake hands and literally leave with the free gifts. If you want the gifts defintely go. If you cannot fend off high prressure sales people do not go.
I called my wife to see if she wanted to go through the 90 minute presentation again for the gifts. We were again eligible because it has been more than 12 months since our first presentation. Her kind words were, "Are you out of your mind?" I thanked her for her sensitivity and support and phoned to cancel the appointment.

gwoerz@gmail.com - glenn replies to glennPS:
If you are wondering how they can afford to give these many gifts away, note that they sell a significant number of these travel packages in every presentation. You will not get follow up contacts to change your mind or have your info sold. They are quite professional in that regard.
Glenn - Joe| 2 repliesI got the flyer also. No return address. Front cover of flyer almost looks like it is from the goverment and it says "FINAL NOTICE". Back of coupon inside says "Global Vacation Network".
Best thing, even if suspected scam, is to report it to US Postal Inspector Service

If enough people do this the USPIS will investigate.- Caller: 1-877-547-7302
- jimAs reported prior this is the old bait and hook advertising. When times are hard like nowadays, people want something nice to happen to them. Thank goodness for sites like this to warn people. The people who look here probably wouldn't fall for any scam anyway.
- MrBigI just got one too. Huntsville Alabama eh? It was either gonna be from there or somewhere in Utah lol.
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Arlene replies to glenn| 1 replyThanks Glenn. I was highly skeptical of this birthday notice because nowhere does it say who it is from or the restrictions. Past offers I have received, it did. I own 2 time shares that I don’t have time to use and still have to pay the maintenance fees on.
- Jim| 2 repliesBeing curious, I made an appointment, I'll tell you guys later what happens.

- meJust got one in WA today, ignoring the scam
- Rick replies to Jim| 1 replyJim, what day is your appointment so I know after what date to look for your follow up report posting. As a resident in greater Seattle, WA area, I received the "Happy Birthday!" mailer on March 9, 2010 postmarked from Tampa, FL with no return address. In my case, (1) the company who schedules your appointment in order to claim your various so-called freebees answers the phone as "Travel Awards Center" and their call-back Customer Service number is 1-866-333-4063 (the people who answer the phones are located in Daytona, FL); and (2) appointments are booked in Lynnwood, WA at the Hampton Inn under the name of Tranquility Travel. Has anyone actually been able to use any of the so-called freebees (Two Round Trip Airline Tickets, $30 Dinner Card for Two, $300 Merchandise Certificate, and a $50 American Express Gift Card)?
- HuntJust received a "Happy Birthday" also. Chicago, IL..........Same number, no address. I'm not contacting. Its kind of creepy because they know your name and that you had a birthday recently. Pretty bold to print your name out like that, as if they know you. I don't like it one bit.
But, I too am curious, if anyone does go to this if they get all that is on the notice. Seems to be a lot to receive, just to sit thru a presentation. - debbie| 2 repliesGot one today also....I'm in Tucson, the postmark was Tampa FL, same phone number. I'm not calling but I am also curious to see what happens to anyone who has the time to go to a presentation!

I'm gonna pass on this one - unlikely I'm in the market for
whatever they are selling. The fact that they don't tell me
what it is right off the bat is not a good indication ... - debbi replies to AndyAndy, same exact phone numbers and offer number that I received today. WAY too good to be true.
