the sweepstakes group called and said I had entered a contest to win a car as far back as 18months ago.I am one of the finalest. and needed to call 877-565-3696 to claim my prize. she could assure me I had won and the sweepstakes group was not trying to sell me anything.

yes, looks like they are still at it.... and it is a travel timeshare group.   a "ms. claire reynolds" from sweepstakes group called us, too... said we entered a contest as far back as 18 months and out of thousands of people, we were one of the finalists... guaranteed to win one of the 4 prizes.  Called back for a good laugh to see if it was even real and got "claire's" voice mail.

Got the same call from "Claire". No answer when calling back. Her message souded ligitimate, but........

We just got the same call.  "Claire" told us the same script; we were one of the finalists to reach the final stage (possibly winning a brand new car) and were guaranteed to win one of the top four prizes.  Also that we had entered up to 18 months ago.  Same call.  We reverse looked up the number that the call came in on, and it was registered to Angela Graham in Hobbart, IN.

The usual scam is you have to attend a presentation where they'll try to hard-sell you timeshares, vacations, travel club memberships, etc. YMMV. Some are fairly legit -- you attend, you get the freebie (the thing you "won"). Some are more scammy -- you attend, you get something less than what was promised like a $99-off coupon for a cruise instead of the cruise itself and you have to buy the cruise to get the $99 off. Those freebies that they do give out have to be paid for and that's by unwary consumers who fall for it.

Claire also called us and left a message on  our phone.  They must have an awful lot of "prizes" to hand out just for being one of the special people that qualified for the final 4 prizes.  She assured us this was not a sales call.  Reverse look up did not work for us.  Name of the company was given as Sweepstakes Group.

got the same call on 1-26-12 about 430pm pst...i am a guaranteed finalist and guaranteed to win one of the final prizes.. come on clair reynolds..she promised it wasnt a sales call.. really clair???

I received a call from Clair Reynolds on 1-27-12 at 10:35 AM PST. I was guaranteed that I a finalist for a prize from a contest for $ 25,000 home makeover. That was entered about 18 months ago and this was not a sales call.She said to call back for more details. I didn't call back. I did a reverse telephone search and also got "Angela Graham in Hobart, IN. So many prizes for everyone to win ?Scam for sure.....don't get involved with this !!!!!

Exact same thing on my answering machine - word-for-word!  Came in at 12:15 p.m. PST

I just got that message on my answer machine; Called back and she answered...She said I wasnt the winner of the Home makeover but the top finalist. That I had to do a 90 min tour of a store in Fresno Ca Direct Buy. than I claim my prize and 100 to any dinner of my choice;

I received a voice mail 2 days ago from "Clair" from the Sweepstakes Group. She said I entered a contest up to 18 months ago for a 25,000.00 makeover from Direct Buy. I was one of the Top Finalists.
The message said I can assure you as one of the Finalists you are guaranteed one of the top five prizes. I can assure you this is no sales call..Congratulations on behalf of Direct Buy. Call me at 877-565-3696. I tried to call Direct Buy over the weekend but no response yet, I let Claire a message but no response. I wanted to see what she was trying to sell.

Wow.  The exact message I received - word for word.  How infuriating.  I called back and got Claire, but when she asked me if I was married and I said no, our connection dropped.  I called back several times, but she has not returned my call.  I'm going to report her/this to the Better Business Bureau.  She was so sincere and seemed legit.  Ugh.  Lesson learned.

So embarassed... just got the same call and actually called back and left a message!  I knew it had to be a scam, but I guess I wanted a home makeover badly enough to give it a go... lol.  Shame on me!

Got the same message. Spoke with Claire, but my call got dropped too after I told her I wasn't married.  Called back, but got voicemail.

I received a message on my answering machine this afternoon (3/13/12) from Claire with "The Sweepstakes Group" and they referred to a contest I entered possibly as long ago as 18 months.  It was for a $25K makeover sponsored by Direct Buy.  My entry had been selected and this guaranteed me to be one of the major prize winners.  She mentioned "you guys entered" so I am assuming she knows I am not single.  She told me to call her toll free number of 877-565-3696 and she would give me all the details.  She seemed very believable but I decided to do some checking on the Internet and I see there is no way all of these people could have won a major prize.  I was assured this wasn't a sales solicitation call.  I guess it is good I wasn't home when the call came in.

I received the exact message 3-16-2012 from Claire.  The number on the caller ID was 219-940-9051.  She said that I had entered a contest within the last 18 months for a $25,000 home makeover with Direct Buy, that I was one the finalists, and that I won a prize.  I did not call back.  I wanted to search the number first... figures.
