    Fake collection agency.  Said they would have me arrested if I didn't pay a very old collection that was taken care of years ago.  Then told me they would come to my work to serve me papers.  Wouldn't disclose who they were and what their address is.  The more I calmly challenged the lady and question the validity of her call the more upset she became.  Screaming and cussing.  Very funny.   These people are scammers.  Just not very good ones.

    They can't stand it when they get hold of an educated consumer, can they?

    Good for you!

    The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

    •is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
    •refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
    •asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
    •exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

    If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

    •Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
    If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

    •Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

    •Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

    •Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

    •Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

    Quick on the draw
    I got a call from this number today. I called it back and told the person that answered that I could not remember the case # that was left in the message. He transferred me to a Mr. Schultz. I gave him my name and he then calls out to a "Susan" to bring him the files of cases that are about to be turned over for lawsuits. He proceeded to tell me that a company from way too many years ago was filing a civil suit again me. So I asked him "so a company is filing a civil suit against me?" He started to squirm asking if I had been served with papers. I have not. He asked how I got to him. That was my signal to have some fun. I told him that I was actually the attorney representing the person he called and the I am issuing a c and d letter immediately. I said that all calls to my client are to be stop immediately. He said got pissed and started yelling and said that he was going to push the file through. I said, "Please do. My firm would love to squash scum like you!" He was speechless. I then pulled the phone away from my ear and said, "Here you go Mr. Barnes. I don't think you will be hearing from them again."

    This is a scam. Tell these clowns to pound sand and [***] glass!

    These people called me yesterday, I spoke with Stephanie Miller casually, and let her know that right now the amount they are looking for does not fit into my budget and that they can do what they need to do. I later received a phone call from my place of employment saying they received a nasty phone call as well. I contacted Stephanie Miller back and she was livid. She stated that I have two jobs and claim I can not pay the amount and that she knows both my jobs and will be coming for me at the jobs.  I let her know then that I don't know what happened from the time a few moments ago when she was calm to now with her yelling, I let her know she was acting like a bi**h and she said No that's what you came out of. She then hung up the phone. I reported the agency as well as the supposed Stephanie Miller to the Federal Trade Commission and we will see who shows up at whose job.

    Got a call from this number today. They said they were collecting from a debt 7 years ago. They said I had to pay within 48 hours or they were going to push the lawsuit through. They said they could take my debit card info over the phone. I told them im not comfortable with out having a written invoice of what I had to pay. So then he said well then he has to push this  lawsuit through at noon tomorrow. So I did a little research and found this number is a scam.

    Tired of getting calls from them? Well just flip the script. Call them back...over and over and over again and as soon as they answer hang up. They will block your number after a few calls BUT if you use Skype not only can they not block Skype calls it's also free to do since it's a 877 number. I did this for about an hour the other day, as a stress reliever, and after about 5 minutes the annoyance in their voices as they answer is priceless!

    I am having the same experience as everyone, harassing calls for a family member. I have asked for them to stop calling and was told very rudely that the calls would never stop till I gave them my sisters info and the dead debt was re-established. Well after a bit of searching I found they registered their number, 877-571-5847, with ringcentral.com. Under their legal policy, sec. 6, they specifically mention harassing phone calls. I would suggest everyone to call them and file a complaint. Good luck!

    This is not a legit company. Call them back and record the calls because "Liz" and "Carl" said some things I'd love to play back in court IF they ever file on my boyfriends old debt. Fact is - this company is the bottom feeder of collection agencies, buying debt that is impossible to validate and trying to scare you. I Asked for the address  to send them a cease and desist letter and they gave us an address that is a United Parcel retail location rented mailbox in Corona Cal. They refused to give us the bar number of the attorney that is going to sue us or their own liscense number as a collection agency. The debt they are trying to collect on is past statute of limitations anyway. I hope they file, so we can sue them!

    Never let bullies on the phone confuse extortion with debt collection. Honest debt collectors do not typically send their claims straight to a judge, and they don't take your ransom money to broker quick deals with so-called "process servers". There are no secretive "arbitrators", "assessment specialists", "detectives", "investigators", "mediators", or "prelitigation specialists". They are sweaty double-talking criminals with a script full of coercive remarks. Lawful debt collection is a process, not an ambush, and you are due a chance at each stage to raise a dispute. The agents' horrid threats are empty and their conduct is illegal. Do not reward lawbreakers with your money. Challenge them always, sue them if you can.

    You could have a long wait for that debt lawsuit, longer than the one year you get for FDCPA claims, which your BF already has. Threats to sue on time-barred debt are violations, and so are empty lawsuit threats in general. Tack on lying about the debt's amount, nature, or legal status. If you ever go to court, the table you want is marked "plaintiff".

    "Legacy Management Group" is one of the Junk Debt Buyers who bought compromised debt from indicted United Credit Recovery owner Leonard Patillo.  Patillo falsified documents related to this debt, bribed an exec with US Bank and made millions ripping off JDB by selling them this fake debt.

    You can read the indictment here - its been unsealed:
    http://www.justice.gov/usao/flm/press/2014/Ju ... _indictment.pdf

    And here is a news article that explains the charges:
    http://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/morning ... k-exec-for.html

    The debt they are bottom feeding for in their calls to my boyfriend is mentioned in the article, and is well beyond the statue of limitations. We sent Legacy a validation/cease and desist letter certified mail, which was received and signed for on Monday at the retail UPS store in Corona California where they have their rental PO box.  If one of the board admins says its ok to post this address, I will.

    Our plan is to file a complaint with the AG in California, even if they respond to the validation letter.

    If these people are bothering you (or someone equally slimy) and you want it to stop, please go to this site and read up on how to defend yourself: http://www.creditinfocenter.com/community/

    Corporations don't (yet) have the same expectation of privacy as citizens. I doubt Admin will object to something which should be public knowledge anyway.

    I'd agree that should be done in any case. But my point last time was that you need to defend your own rights if I'm correct about the FDCPA violations. An address that can accept Cert Mail can accept process service. (... on the premise that you'll have difficulty finding a live human to serve) The Cally AG is not your attorney and may never act against Legacy. If you've seen the forums on CIC and DebtorBoards you'll find the same stress on self-reliance.

    Received another call from them and they left this number 877-571-5847.  I called The Ohio Attorney General Office and they told me it was fraud.  The advice is:  Do not take the phone calls, block the number, and refuse to speak with them.
