- katosj| 5 repliesThis is a collection agency that is trying to collect on old debt more than 10 years old. They bought old debt from creditors and threaten to take you to court if you don't pay or arrange settlement. They even disclose your credit history with you and state based on the report you will lose in court and it is in your best interest to settle. The phone call ended in she is recommending the client take legal action.

- HC replies to katosj| 4 repliesThey told me that they were calling from SRG. I said what is SRG. She said it was a client based organization. She wanted me to answer her questions but she didn't want to answer mine. Very Rude to call my cell phone and give me a hard time. I guess that's what they make the hang up button for.
- Pied Piper| 1 replyThey tried to get me to pay a $400 debt that was written off at a bankruptcy. They threaten to take legal action to force my hand. Do not fall for it. With the bankruptcy it is meaningless. They are trying to scare you and take your money.

- Kita| 11 repliesI received a call from this number & they tried to collect on a 10 year old debt. I nicely let the lady know that anything passed 7 years old exceeds the Statue of Limitations. She acknowledged I was right & "asked me to do the right thing and pay off the debt. I have no idea where & how they got my info.....but, I am not about to give up any money without receiving paper work & just getting a call.

- jerry| 1 replySRG called me on my cell phone regarding a 10 yr old debt. I never had service with the company they claimed I owed. I asked for specific info. On the case and was not provided any at all yet she still wanted me to pay a 2000 dollar bill. She claimed she would deduct 1000 off the debt if I paid now. I told her to fax me info and I would pay if I had incurred debt. She got very hostile and I just hung up on her. Haven't heard back from them yet. Definitely a shady maybe even illegitimate company.

- Elspeth replies to jerryNEVER pay a random caller money unless they MAIL (not email or fax) a debt validation letter showing original creditor, amount owed, date of loan, date of last payment and if they are licensed to collect said debt in your state. If they refuse to mail this information (per the FDCPA), they are scammers. A legitimate company would have no problem complying with federal law.
You already know you never had service with the company name she gave you. The debt, at 10 years old, is also most likely outwith the statute of limitations for collection in your state. Bottom line - no proof of debt = no money owed. Report the caller to the FTC and your state's Attorney General. If she calls back, tell her you're recording all calls she makes to you for multiple violations of the FDCPA (even if you're not recording). - Resident47 replies to HCReal cute .. a "client based organization" could describe a thousand types of business. I'll take a stab the acronym is for Strategic Recovery Group in Irving, TX, "part of Vantium Capital, Inc", its website boasts. They are thugs known for illegal tactics, the kind the FDCPA was written for.
- Resident47 replies to Kita| 9 repliesNo state has a seven year SoL on any major debt category, but you were right to consider account age and say nothing which could make you liable. Ten years exceeds SoL in much of the U.S.
It's too late to "do the right thing" with a debt so old and in the hands of a debt buyer. The original creditor isn't seeing that money; it would go straight to some greaseball exec's next SUV purchase. - Resident47 replies to Pied PiperEmpty lawsuit threats on discharged debt are illegal. Consider suing for relief. The loser has to pay your freight in court.

- Jeni| 1 replyA Ms. Tucker called from that organization from a number 616-365-5591 but voice mail said to call the 877 number. The person she asked for isn't me or my husband.

- Resident47 replies to JeniYep, MI is six years across the board. At my count, 34 states have at least one debt category set for six years. Again, none list a seven year SoL. Seven years is the reporting limit set by FCRA, which is frequently confused with SoL and does not affect debt liability.
- Resident47 replies to JeniYou might want to report in that thread, presently empty, and confirm a business name. Surely others are getting calls using the number.
https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-616-365-5591 - PatShe called me on my cell phone and told me I owed $600 to Chase. I've never had a Chase Bank account and that it was from 2001 to 2003. I lived in South America from 1999-2004 so I kindly let her know this and hung up. It's a scam!

- JRMMy wife received a call about a debt that was over 10 years old and that she had paid off way back then, this person on the other end had our previous address, current address, name, cell numbers, some financial information and wanted my wifes routing and account number, she didn't give that up thankfully but she did verify our current address and gave her email to have the supposed bill sent to us. I called them back after my wife started asking me questions about it and telling me the conversation. When I called and asked what their business was and what they did, I got an immediate who am I talking to, and they continued to avoid the answer which got me mad hatter mad, they wanted to direct me, pull my account up, everything but what their business did and why they were calling over a 10+ year paid debt and asking for banking information. I had a whole lot of explisives for them and told them I was going to have my lawyer look into them etc... if they kept avoiding my question about who they were and what they did as a business and I got sir you don't have to use that type of language, avoided again and I hung up. Actually I am still mad as I type this and I'm thinking about calling them back and ripping them a new one again... I will be reporting this to the FTC asap and trying to get some type of Law Enforcement involved with this that is for sure...

- Robert| 2 repliesWas called about a quick loan that was taken out and the money deposited in a Wells Fargo Bank and Wells Fargo saying money wasn't good. This is supposedly to have happened in 2006. Gave them my email so they could send me information to review. I had a phone call a year ago that also said I had taken out a quick loan but, it was for 2008 and they wanted me to pay restitution for which I said no way. They then advised me that I would be served with papers. I'm still waiting to be served.
I called all quick loan places within 100 miles and none had any record. One places said it was a scam.- Caller: SRG

- Debbie replies to KitaI had the same thing a few minutes ago, they give you personal information and say they are collecting a debt and want you to pay this debt off. The sad thing about it is I received nothing in the mail about the debt, I filed bankruptcy as well. Needless to say, I ask her for information and she could not provide that to me, so I told her "I have a legal right to know (in black and white) what I am paying for. She said she had limited information so I told her I was not going to pay on a debt that I am not aware of in writing.
