    Suspicious
Received calls from 877-575-6777, I missed the first two phone calls and the caller left no message.  I was available and answered the third time, a recording said, "Thanks for calling, someone will be with you shortly,"  then after about 10 seconds, "Sorry for the wait, someone will be with you shortly, thanks for calling." That repeated a few times, then there was a rustling/breathy sound like someone was on the other end but no words.  The other end hung up.

This is a collections company calling about a very old, disputed bill.  Tell theme they have the wrong number and please don't call again and they will give up.  If they inquire further, tell them that you've only had this number a short time and again tell them they must have the wrong number and not to call again.

You do not have to be honest with these people when they call.  Often they are not honest with you.  The good news is they often call from 8xx or out-of-state numbers and always ask for the person by name or even full name.

Even if you get caught off guard, your best response once you have your wits about you is to say "Do not call me again."  Repeat it and hang up.

Collections.  Best script to get rid of these people?

"i'm sorry but you must have the wrong number, this is XXX-XXX-XXXX." (use the actual number)

if they ask any follow up, tell them "This is <any first name you choose> and I just got this number"

Finally " Please take this cell number off your list.  I don't wish to receive any further calls."

Say all of this will confidence and you will never get another call.  Applies to all collection calls.

This number called my phone with no answer when I said hello twice. I hung up and called the number back to find it was Tri-State Adjustments. They had my number listed to someone else, and I corrected their mistake. I'll hope it doesn't happen againt.

Your demand is ineffective and misplaced.
    • 800notes.com did not call you.
    • We cannot block calls for you.
    • We cannot put you on or take you off the "list".
    • We cannot report calls for you.

    • Odds are, YOU will not read this post, thus will remain both uneducated and subject to continued  unwanted calls.
