- Caller: 877-577-3845
- Call type: Debt collector
- TiffanyThey called family members about a bad check. I think its fraud because i've had the same checking acct for 10 years. They've never personally called me (my phone # is on my checks)??????? They need to be reoprted!!!!!!
- Maria| 1 replyYep..A threat! Calling family members for a fraud check!! they pretend they are the police officers,or lawyers! If they are lawyers, why they are harassing people. That is illegal! And to pretend that they are police officers is even worse. ..They should be investigated and penalized. Can someone call the consumer's office? or there has to be a law against.

- Larry| 2 repliesGot a call from this number. They said they were from Yahoo and that my email account had been hacked into. Wanted access to my computer so they could resolve the issue.
- JR replies to Larry| 1 replyWere they legitimately from Yahoo? Since when did they start calling free email users if they were hacked & how would they know?
- Willow replies to JRI have to question this as well. I recently got a similar email , supposedly from Twitter, stating that I needed to change my password because account activity suggested my account had been hacked. I promptly shut the account down.
Yahoo accounts do frequently get hacked, but I've never known them to call users about it. My suggestion is that you sign in directly from Yahoo's website and change your passwords. - Joe S.Been receiving numerous calls every day. An Indian man says he is from MicroSoft Support. He was allowed access to my computer, went through the computer and then afterwards i could not even sign on to my computer. I had to send it to a repair center to erase the whole hard drive and have my programs reinstalled.
- Caller: MicroSoft Support

- Bill B.| 2 repliesSame call as Joe S., I allowed him to access my computer. Unlike Joe I could still use my computer, After several months it was running slow. I put it in as repair shop, they said it had a virus, they are still working on it. Every time they fix something else wrong comes up. Every couple weeks as Indian man calls and wants me to turn my computer on,I tell them it is the shop being worked on. They say their company name is V-TECH.
- Caller: V-TECH
- Slim replies to Bill B.>> I allowed him to access my computer. <<
They are not the real "V-TECH" phone people.
Glad you brought your computer to a local repair shop, but some of the malware some of the scammers install is VERY intrusive!
Since the scammer accessed the computer, they probably did one or more of the following:
• Disabled the anti-virus software
• Added a lot of malware to the computer
• Copied the Contact List (so they can email your soon-to-be ex-friends)
• Copied any financial data or passwords they could find
• Compromised the ID
• "Zombied" the computer, so it would respond to THEIR commands sent via internet
• Deleted some important files
• Asked for money to repair the damage they caused
Now, what can you do immediately after such an attack?
1. Pull the cables on the computer, so it cannot access the internet.
2. Change ALL passwords stored on the computer
3. Run FULL malware scans on the computer, in "SAFE" mode!
4. Change the passwords again, particularly if the malware scans showed anything
5. Inform your bank and credit card companies
6. Sign up for credit monitoring, and check the status frequently
7. You may have to bring the computer to a local repair shop, and tell them the story.
8. Tell friends what happened, so they can be aware of strange emails from you
9. Plug in the computer only AFTER all the above have been done
10. Change the passwords on all online accounts. Even better - access a "safe", uninfected computer, and chance your online account passwords RIGHT NOW.

Honest computer companies do NOT cold-call people to tell them their computers need fixing!

Remember to return here, to 800notes.com, after you look at any of the information at the above sites, either to post more information, or to let us know you avoided the scam or fixed the computer correctly. - lmr1 replies to MariaYou may need to call your state Attorney Generals Office and explain what is going on. I too recieve these calls. Got one within the last 30 minutes from them. Nothing was said just hard breathing on the line.
I feel as if I'm being stalked. - ANGELO DELISOJUST GOT 2 CALLS IN A ROW FOR THE 5TH OR SIXTH TIME IN THE LAST 4 MONTHS FROM THE 877-577-3845 PHONE NUMBER. DONT THESE PEOPLE EVER GET TIRED??????

- KM| 2 repliesThis guy called and said he was from infotel and affiliated with Microsoft and that he was getting error messages from my computer and wanted to help me fix it. Had me to go to www.ammyy.com. This site had a warning on it that if somebody calls and says they're from Microsoft or some company affiliated with Microsoft, this is a scam. Said not to let anyone access your computer unless you personally know them. Read this to the guy and he sent me to another website. I told him that I didn't know him and I was not comfortable letting him have access to my computer.
- Caller: Infotel
- Bug replies to KM| 1 reply{{{...this is a scam. Said not to let anyone access your computer unless you personally know them. Read this to the guy and he sent me to another website.}}}
The other website that this scam might tell you to go to is probably teamviewer.com, where they will ask you to download a small program, run the program, then give them the pass codes so they can take remote control of your computer. They will then steal information and mess up your computer. They'll tell you they're the only ones who can fix it.
TeamViewer.com is a legitimate website, and its products are safe. I've used it for years to provide remote support for software for a large agency.
The problem is letting strangers have access to your computer! Don't do it, no matter what they say! Unless you are expecting a call from your authorized service person at work, don't connect with anyone! - KM replies to BugYes, team viewer was the other website. He just called again. Very determined. Thanks for the info.
- Val Ray replies to Bill B.I had a call from this guy named John who said he was from VTech a couple of years ago who said he needed assess to my computer so I turned it on and let him work on it. As a result I was charged over $200. and ended up with a computer that has more viruses than ever. I had to take it in to a computer shop to have it repaired and the technician there told me I had been scammed. I still receive calls periodically from this number, but I just tell them that this call is being traced by the proper authorities and if they continue to harass me I will have them charged. Or I might say they must have the wrong person as I don't have a computer. They are not in any way connect to Microsoft but are probably calling from India because it is always a person with an Middle East Accent. So if you get a call like this DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION OR LET THEM HAVE ACCESS TO YOUR COMPUTER.
- LWSome guy has called twice. The number shows ITEC Squad. He's not American. He claims he helped me in the past with my computer (which he did not) and he wants to guide me through steps to make sure it was working properly now. I let him talk for a minute. He wanted me to change my password! I said Nice Try! Can't believe he called the second time!
The first time he wanted to help me with my PC. I said I have a Mac. When he called the second time - a couple of weeks later (today) he must have taken notes from the first call because he said "remember we talked recently and I helped you with your Mac?" I'm sure some people just follow his instructions and get SLAMMED!!! DON'T DO IT! REPORT! REPORT!- Caller: ITEC Squad

- Jackiegot a call from "Steve" from V tech, said my computer was infected with a virus and wanted me to make all these changes to my computer. He said his phone number was 800-600-2001 but my phone said 305-351-4020.

- Mike(On 1/8/17) I used Google to get a # for Canon to try and get technical support because my printer had stopped working. Some how using Google I got the #877-577-3845 as the # for Canon. A man with Middle Eastern accent claiming to be Canon answered and asked if he could have remote access to my computer. I allowed him to do so he messed around on my computer for about an hour. Came back and told me my network had been hacked. He gave me several options and told me he was going to transfer the call to HP. The person who came back to me on the phone also with a Middle Eastern accent said he would do a "one time fixation and 6 months technical support for $69.99". I agreed I gave him my debit card number. By the end of the call he got my printer working after another hour and a half of messing around on my computer. I got suspicious the next day and called 877-577-3845 it came back to a Verizon cell# and then Googled the # I found all kinds of horror stories. I then called Charter Spectrum to get my IP address changed and password. Upon calling Charter I was advised to call Netgear. While talking to the technician at Netgear she told me my whole network had been reconfigured and my computer was also in danger of crashing. So I had to pay another $139.99 to get my network fixed with a new IP address and password. I notified my bank and I'm now waiting for a new debit card. This man claimed his name is "Mack Fulton" employee ID: 1024 with "Simplify Tech Solution"
