Call was a computer, asking for a callback. Caller ID showed a local number, but the callback was an 877 number.

I got the SAME call. So annoying!

I get this call on my cell phone and house phone at LEAST 6 times a day. What and who is it?

it is a collection agency.  in our case it was a medical bill that hadn't been paid because they were sending the bill to the wrong city.  but even after we paid it, we continued to get these computer calls.  i'm still trying  to get them to stop calling!

Same thing.  Medical bill that used the wrong insurance to bill even though I gave the correct one.

I got an automated call claiming to be a collection agency and asking me to call this number back. My husband has been getting weird calls on his cell for weeks and can't pick them up, so maybe this is the same number. I don't think we owe any debts and I hesitate to call them back.

You should always call back.  If it's a legit agency and they have a wrong phone # they will remove it, if you owe a debt, wouldn't you like to know?  also if they have incorrect insurance information or are sending it to the wrong state they have no idea, they get their information directly from the client (i.e. hospital/dr. you went to)  how are they supposed to know you moved?  They weren't there when the insurance information was submitted, think  people, they aren't magicians and they are just doing their jobs!

i'm getting this call too, it sounds like a scam but they keep calling everyday and they didn't give me any information about what debt or why i should call.  and the local number with the different callback is weird.  i'm not sure i'm going to call

This collection agency "BYL Collection Services, LLC is located at P.O. Box 569, Malvern, PA 19355. They have a website hppts://www.bylservices.com. You can go to this website and pay what you owe by credit card. They have been annoying me for probably a year on and off, although the person they are always asking for does not live here. This person has used my phone a few times and I would guess that is enough to get me on their list. I think the proper way to get them to stop making these calls would probably be to file a complaint with the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, The problem with doing this is filling out a 2 page form you can find under http://www.attorneygeneral.gov. The calls are very annoying and there should be some other quicker and easier remedy, but I don't know what it is at this point. Maybe a class action lawsuit for "harassment" might be the way to go. I suppose this could be done if a petition could be circulated. The petition would serve the purpose of finding out how many people could be found and maybe if you found 5,000 people, for example, the legal costs could be shared. If a lawyer with extra time on his or her hands could do a great public service here by working "pro bono" for the legal end of it. Any lawyer who happens to read this could write a message here with contact info to get the ball rolling.

Same call, same number.  I called the number, 610-877-1671,but the only access I could get was to pay, no operator when I pushed "0" on the key pad an no extension to access a representative.  I'm not paying something by phone until I can get a real person to talk to and find out what the bill is for. I do KNOW for a fact that I don't owe anyone anything.  We pay our debts off every month in full.  Could be like someone else already said, they are sending the payments to the wrong address.  I need to talk to a human to find out what is going on, for I do now want my credit ruined because of someone else's error.

I called the 877-608-1671 telephone number again.  I pushed "2" on the key pad for payment and of course it went through.  They asked for my telephone number, which I put in a bogus number, then they asked for my social security number, which was also bogus and nothing happened.  I hung up.  No collection agency that I am aware of asks for a social security number.  BEWARE!  I am sure that it is a scam.  If you need to know if you have an outstanding debt, call the CREDIT BUREAU(S).  That is the safest.  That's what I am about to do.  My husband got our credit report a couple of months ago and everything was excellent!  BE CAREFUL PEOPLE.  DON"T GIVE ANY NUMBERS OF ANY KIND TO ANYONE, unless you know that they are legit!!!!

I received this call, so I called it back.  I get an answering machine that says they are closed, but it was within their operating hours.  It left an email address saying you can send an email to them, so I tried, and it came back saying it wasn't a correct address.  If it's bogus, I've probably just infected my computer with a virus.  Great.
