This number is Verizon Wireless. If you have an account that is still active with a late bill and/or is closed and has an outstanding balance this number will call you to remind you of that outstanding balance. It is not quite a collection agency but sort of the step before they send it to one.

I think this is a scam.

I received an automated phone call from 877-617-6714 claiming there was an urgent issue with my Verizon account. I called Verizon's customer service directly and they said there were no issues or late payments on my account. I then called the 877-617-6714 number back which was answered by a woman identifying herself as Sheri.

Sheri asked for my phone number and name and then asked for my Verizon passcode. I said I did not know my passcode. She then asked for the last 4 digits of my SSN which I said I would not give out. She said she needed them to access the account but I interrupted her and asked what this as about. She claimed there was a $28 over due balance on the account (how did she know this if she can't access the account?). I told her I just spoke with Verizon and they said everything is fine so please take me off you call list since I don't believe this is legitmate.

Disregard my comments. I called Verizon direct and that customer service representative verified that the number is Verizon's payables department. Apparently the created 2 accounts when we purchased cell phones. Only 1 was going to our home address and the other to a former address. This last bill was not being paid and was overdue.

Called here numerous times - recording, not a real person.  It asked press some # if you are the person, another if not.  I pressed not.  The recording then said it would give me time to go get the person.  I waited.  Recording asked if the person was able to be reached right now...I pressed the number for No.  Recording asked that I give a message to the person.
I went through this cycle for one or two of the calls, then have been hanging up on them since - several per day.  The option the recording does not give is for me to respond that the person does not even live here...which was the case in my situation!

Everyone please note that anyone can post their name as Greg (hence the conflicting information above). The number is fraudulent. 877 numbers are available to be used by anyone. 877 calls are usually phony.

Someone is targeting you, trying to steal your account information, identity, or personal details. Watch out for anyone posting the opposite information about the number being genuine. They are most likely the crooks.

You should ignore the call and just dial out your credit accounts to make sure they are safe. Only believe communications that you make from numbers on the back of your own credit cards. Everything else (email, websites, and personal calls to you) can and are faked everyday to steal your good name and money.

    Stay well

So I received an automated voicemail saying I had to call this number about my account. Went though, sounding official, man introduced himself as part of Verizon. He then asked me what number I was told to call. Then full phone number, then last four of social security number. I unwittingly gave these to him; I should've had more coffee this morning first. Then he said I had an outstanding balance of $30.83 on my account, would I like to pay that by credit card. By this time I had brought up my Verizon Wireless account, and seeing it was up-to-date, knew something was up. I wish I found this site sooner, to read the first Greg's comment. I hope I didn't give away too much information.

I just got off the phone with a woman after dialing this number and It is a part of Verizon.  I called Verizon first because I wanted to pay only a part of my bill.  They gave me this number because I wanted to split the payment in 2.  When I called they gave me a lesser amount of what was owed, only if I payed it within 2 weeks, they also said that it would not show up on my credit report as a settlement??? mmmm This last part made me a little suspicious!

A little suspicious, but they had enough information to convince me they really were Verizon.  In this case, they deal with leftover charges on closed accounts.  They may do more, but that's how I got to them.

Honestly, Verizon needs to streamline their billing and customer service departments (probably leftover issues with the Alltel merger), but that's another issue.  This really is Verizon.

    I hope.

It is Verizon Wireless. I received a few messages and returned the call and went directly to Verizon Wireless. An ex employee had listed my number and they were trying to reach him.
It's legit...but don't ever give out information without confirming.
ALWAYS get an identification number from the employee, if they wont give you one, then refuse to give information.

I have been receiving these recorded messages for a couple of weeks now and finally decided to call them back a few minutes ago.   I dont not have a verizon wireless account but I do have verizon for my tv.  I spoke to the woman, she asked what phone number they were calling and she gave me the name of the person they were trying to reach. I told here there wasnt anyone here by that name and she said that my number will be removed with in 24 hours.  I hope this is the case. They did not ask for any personal info apart form the phone number.  Everything did seem legit.

This is just a Verizon Collection agency, or maybe an outside one, though it sounds like one. I called them up I explained to the lady that by the end of the month I will pay Verizon. First thing out of her rude mouth "Could you pay it today?". Already she is angering me. "No miss, I just finished telling you that by the end of the month I'll pay the bill. “ Okay sir, but if you don't pay this, it might get referred to an outside collection agency". Now why did she say that for, and push my buttons? "Lady I don't know if you are getting a commission for this but I already told you that I'll pay by the end of the month. What part of the phrase you don't understand, tell me and I'll explain it in detail. Why do you want me to pay it today when I already told you I don't have money and you go and threaten me with a collection agency.... grow up."

I was billed twice by mistake by verizon.  This collection company refuses to stop calling me.  I was also threatened to be referred to a collection agency if I did not pay the duplicate bill.  If they touch my credit I'll file a lawsuit because I'm sure I'm not the only one they're trying to shake down like this.  I asked for their company's name (they're a contracted collection vendor for Verizon) and was given Bandage Sourcing in Alabama (which was aganst company policy to give out as I was later told by a supervisor).  They would not give me an address to serve with legal docs.  Very shady to call people up and deny who you really are.

Repeated calls from this number, claiming to be Verizon.
I called Verizon, and had them block the number from calling me anymore.
Since Verizon permitted me to block this number, it is obviously not Verizon calling.

They called me and left a message, saying my account was overdue. I don't even have a Verizon account. I told them my phone number, and she asked if I was James. Since I'm not, I told her no. She said she was going to have my number taken off of the list, and sorry for the inconvenience. No harm done, unless she calls again...

This number calls me all of the time.  The person on the other end is a lady speaking Spanish.  This is a scam.  Verizon does not use 877 numbers.

I got a call from them. Only problem is, I don't have Verizon. I have AT&T. The message said it was an important phone call. I just figured it was Verizon trying to get me to switch. I called them back and told them I don't use them and have no clue why they have my number.
They apologized then called again 20 minutes later. :o/
