    On August 3, 2011, at 6:37 p.m. eastern s.t., I received a phone call from 1-877-640-1938.

The man on the phone stated that someone had delivered a package to a previous address.  He talked like he was sort of in a hurry, and throughout the conversation, he tended to stumble over his words a bit.  He said that a worker had delivered the package on Monday and left a note on the door.  He asked if I had gotten the note about picking up the package.  I asked him who he was calling on behalf of, and he said he worked for a package delivery service with a generic sounding name.  He said the package weighed 3.2 lbs and had come from Best Buy.  Best Buy had recently repaired (and subsequently damaged) my laptop, so I thought that they might be sending me something to follow up on my extensive complaining.  After I asked him at least three times who sent the package, I asked him to tell me who he worked for again.  This time, he gave me a different company name with the same generic feel (something like 'National Courier Service'), and he said that they were headquartered in Atlanta.  He had, at first, told me that the didn't know when the package could be delivered, but after he told me about the company and I seemed more at ease talking to him, he said that the package would be shipped out on Friday.  Then I asked him what time the package would come.  At this point, I figured that there was a 40% chance that this was legitimate, a 30% chance that this was a debt collector, and a 10% chance that this was a thief (after further review, I think there was an 85% chance that this was a debt collector and a 15% chance that this was an inept identity thief).  Under the pretense of finding out if somebody would be at home to receive the package, he sounded pleased when he asked me if I worked.  I told him that I did, and I gave him a very generic employer (one that sort of exist in this region).  He told me to expect the package on Friday, and shortly thereafter we hung up.

After we ended the conversation.  I filed a security alert with Experian and reported the incident to the FTC.

The guy said his name is Tony.  He is 100% shady and for sure trying to serve papers.  He said he had a package for me and that it was from best buy.  He was adamant about meeting me and delivering the package.  he said that they tried to deliver it to my old address and that he couldn't because they said I didn't live there.  He wanted to come to my office to hand deliver the package.  The guy was a total douche. If you get any more calls from him be sure to play his game and make him go to a fake address like I did. He said he works for A1 Express delivery.  The guy just picked the wrong person to lie to.

Had this number call me, didnt answer. They called my dad. He didn't answer. They called my mom, she answered. And told them our adress. And said when we would and wouldn't be home. Then after she hung up she realized what a weird call it was and called the police.
The caller stated they were deliveringa package from JC Penney, which should have been the first red flag for myom becausethe only things my family orders oline are computer parts. Anything frm a store like jc peney would be bought in person.

Needless to say I will be following up with th epolice shortly.
