they call and say nothing at all. i tried calling back the phone rings and rings then there is dead air like someone answered but said nothing i think this number is a scam tring to get info. on you. dont answer hang up.

Yesterday I got a call from this foeign dude and I told him to stop calling my job number.  This person keeps asking someone and not saying the reason why he is calling, and has asked me for an alternate number to call to.
He tells me that it a matter of urgency and that he needs to get hold of me.
When you call back to the number the man answers the telephone with Hello, no company name and nothing else is given.  The calls started yesterday and I requested that he stop calling my job to no avail he is still calling.

I think the call is a sham and that they are trying to find someone else and this is their way of harassing innocent person to get to the person they need to talk to.  

I am not going to answer the call after today, this is day two that the person has called my job.

This number called at 8:40 AM, Wednesday, July 23, 2008.  Googled it & came up with this site.  It's so easy to post here, so others who have had calls from this #, or who have had some type of interaction with those at the other end, please let the rest of us know...  

I have added all of my phones to donotcall.gov and installed some free software on my computer to help block/filter calls.  If you have a modem on your computer & can connect a phone line to it, 9 times out of 10 this type of software will work for you too.  If everyone who owned a computer with a modem (and phone service with caller ID) did this, we could effectively fight the telescamming/marketing/identity theft industry...  

That being said, not every unknown caller is a scammer trying to harvest your social security #.  Just use caution and common sense, and never give any information to an unsolicited caller...

When I answered phone- music played- unidentifiable song- I just stated that "I don't get it" and hung up. So I dialed *69 and they gave me this number. Glad I checked because I thought it was from someone I've had personal issues with whom I was going to confront about this!!!

Called at 7:45 - they should know by now that I don't answer these calls and if they really want to talk to me they should leave a message.

We have only had our number since the first of June. They called and ask to speak to my ex husband, which by the way we have been divorced since 1999, and I have been remarried for 8 years. How they still connect him to us? I ask three times what the co was and I never understood her, she was a foreign. I finally just hung up.

Received a call at 8:07 a.m. August 13th from 1-877-642-1263.  I was "greeted" by Muzak.  I put the call on speakerphone and after the Muzak ended, I heard the sound of a phone ringing followed by a female voice who said "Hello?" several times.  I did not answer.  Sounded like a boiler room operation.  Failing to receive a response from me the caller hung up.

I didn't answer the call, but they left a message with the same garbbled music jean heard. I called them back from my company phone and some foreing guy said they had called the wrong number - except I never told him what number he had called.

I have also listed all my phones with "do not call" and I believe it helps, but I still get a lot of crap calls.

I missed the call, but they left a message. The message was only the garbbled muzak. I did the trace back and got the same responses: Unknown name, toll free number.

I called them from my corporate phone. A foreign guy (fg)answered the phone:

fg: Can I help you?
me: What company are you with?
fg: Allied Interstate
me: What is Allied Interstate?
fg: A collection agency.
me: You called my cell phone number XXX-XXX-XXXX. What do you want?
fg: One moment please.
New Guy (ng), not foreign, comes on
ng: Can I help you?
me: Yes, I want to know why you called me.
ng: Are you calling from the number we called?  
me: No. I gave that number to the other guy.
ng: Can I have it again?
me: XXX-XXX-XXXX. What do you want?
ng: We are try to reach Vivian _________.
me: She is not at this number and I don't know her.
Foreign Guy comes back on:
fg: Thank you sir. We will remove your number from our records so we don't disturb you in the future.
me: Thanks. Good bye.
fg: Thank you. Good bye.

At least they were polite.

Called with just the music (sounded like Classical).  Then just as I was about to put it on speakerphone for everyone around me to enjoy they hung up!

OK if I am going to be harassed I at least want the chance to enjoy their elevator music!

Looks like Allied Interstate is using the DNC list to scam the elderly that don't realize what's happening.....

Caller looking for a relative of mine, but wouldn't tell me what business he wanted with them. They must of really been looking hard for him, b/c I don't even have the same last name.

I have received many faxes ( no fax result) from 877-642-1263 when I call them back it turns out that they are a collection agency & even though I tell them they have the wrong # they say to bad you will keep getting these calls/faxes.

Been called by this number numerous times. Today they called 3 times. I'm on the do not call list too. This is annoying.

waa called by the same # today. music, dead air, some voice. we think it sounds like a scam as well.

We work at night and sleep during the day. Please help! How do I get them to stop calling? I am on the do not call list. Caller said no when I asked to be put on it. Kept asking for someone with our very common last name but a different first name and insisted this number (mine for 17 years) was associated with a Marshall somebody (insert my last name). Please any ideas on whom to report this to would help. I am ready to give up my land line over this.

Who ever is calling from that number, must have a timer. They call at the same time everyday from  morning til night. Never leaves message. Its annoying in the evening hour they call every 30 minutes until 9:00. It is ridiculous.

As usual, with these kind of calls, they don't have the guts to leave a message. Scam!!!!!! This number has been calling my home for a long time, well, if you'll excuse me, I have to go to the Donotcall site and file a complaint. Later

They called me and I ask a lot of questions and a foreign guy told me he was Allied Financial in Columbus Ohio. Then I told him that person did not live here and hung up. He kept calling me back and cusing at me. There is no place with that name in Columbus Ohio.So I called him back every few minutes for two hour and kept telling what an [***] he was. He didn't like that much.
