Keep getting calls Innovative Debt Solutions regarding a supposed credit card debt from 2008. They have no website.

Also, the phone # is 877-644-7592 and the name is Megan Mason from Innovative Debt Solutions in Amherst, NY. Just trying to find out if this is a scam.

i also received a voice message from Megan Mason. She did not identify the company, (thanks for that info). the message she left had a threatening edge and demanded to receive a call back by 9 pm.

877-644-7592 is for Megan Mason with INNOVATIVE DEBT SOLUTIONS LLC at 410 CONNECTICUT STREET, BUFFALO, NEW YORK, 14213-2641. They can be found on the NY Secretary of State's Business Search website.

After one very nasty encounter with "Megan" after contacting my coworker...who happens to be an attorney here, I immediately called her and asked who she represented, her company name and for verification of the debt. She refused to give. I then asked that she cease all telephone calls to any number in regards to me and correspond with me only IN WRITING.

At this point she flew into a belittling rage and threatened to have me arrested. At THAT point I disconnected the call and immediately contacted the NY secretary of state, registered for their DO NOT CALL registry and filed a formal online complaint against Megan and Innovative Debt Solutions.

Should you receive a call from them PLEASE DO THE SAME. That is the only way these type companies will cease and hopefully go away.

True debt collection companies are a valid part of our economy; however, there are laws governing their behavior. If I have a debt that is owed and if the creditor can at least TELL ME where/when the debt is from, I can either validate it and pay it (it would definitely be a debt I am unaware of) or validate to the company that it either is not mine or has already been settled.
