Amerimark offers a 30 day trial of their "passport to health" ($29.99 a month after). They signed up my dad for this program and I only discovered this 6 months later. All these months they were deducting money from his account for nothing. I am reporting them to FTC. According to my investigation they got his number from the order he placed with  Amerimark catalog.

Hello!  I just got a call from them this morning!!!  This is the second time this week!!  Annoying!!! All my phone numbers (home and cell) are registered with DoNotCall. gov.  I placed an online order with Amerimark last week!  You can bet I am cancelling the credit card that I used to place the order.  I also reported them to the FTC.

It does not matter if all of your phone numbers are registered with DoNotCall.gov.  If you have ever done any business with any of the mentioned companies involved in pitching Passport to Health, you have what they call a business relationship and they can call you whenever they feel like it.  If you do not want to receive any phone calls from any of their companies call them and ask to be placed on the Do Not Call list and then they cannot legally call you ever again.

Same here.  Charging my 87-year old mother $29.99 a month for "Passport To Health" that she supposedly signed up for in April '07 when they called to "make sure her Amerimark mail order arrived safely."  This stuff is pathetic, yet these companies go rolling along year after year, trolling for new victims.  I've reported them to the FTC and the NY State Department of Consumer Affairs.

I received a call from this number discussing my "membership."  I ordered materials from an associated company, but have never become a member.  When I questioned the caller, he said he had "called the wrong number" despite the fact that he had asked for me by my full name.  When I asked for his name and for the opportunity to speak with his supervisor, he refused and hung up.

I'm so glad you posted!  I keep seeing this number on my cell phone and I too just ordered some shoes from Amerimark.  So that's how they got my number, I'll sure watch my bill when it arrives and hope this unwanted "Health Membership" isn't on it.  I am on the do not call list and thought this wasn't supposed to be happening.  That's my first and last order thru Amerimark and it cost me $10 to return a not well made product.

if they were signing you up after you said no, you should always right down those dates, times and names of who you spoke to. the calls are recorded. now as for them calling you about it, because you are on the do not call registry, does not mean that they are restricted from calling you. this is because you are placed an order with them. if you would like for them to not call you, all you have to do is say your number is unlisted or you would prefer that nobody call you, as they have an internal do not call list for customers.

Took over my 87 year old moms finances, she has been billed for passport to health for over 18 months.  cancelled and complained to PA attorney general.  Amerimark sent a letter to attoney general assuring them that everything they did was above board and legit. Case closed. I am going to complain again, but expect nothing

Keep on trying.  I believe Amerimark's Passport to Health is a total scam.  They prey on elderlys.  My 68yr old mother in law never acknowledged the call and yet she was billed for the monthly fee of $29.99 membership fee. They got her credit card info from her purchase made at Amerimark.  It's shameful !!

I just saw my bank statement and there was a charge there from this pasport to health. I have no idea where it came from that is why I just looked up the number. I am going to call them and the bank on Monday and have this face stopped. I must of given someone my credit carde number because that is where they took the money from.

      Hello,

I, too, just noticed a charge of $29.99 on my bill in January  2008 and in December 2007 for this same thing. I wondered what it was as  I never signed up for any health plan.  I bought a $3.99 item from them in November.  I called the number on the bill and got a voice message and cancelled the plan.  They said it would be refunded, but we shall see.  I, however, have not to my knowledge gotten any phone calls from them.  Their phone number is 877-658-2273.

If you receive any charges that you did not authorize for the $29.99 monthly charge for the Passport to Health you can call the customer service number for whichever catalog is charging you for the membership and they have to cancel the membership and refund all of your money.  No means No and they cannot refuse to refund your money.  A relative of mine got ripped off in the state of Ohio which is the home state of AmeriMark and she had to go through a supervisor in the Lincoln, NE facility to get her money refunded but she got all 6 months returned.  Hopefully this gets stopped as there are probably a lot of elderly individuals out there getting scammed and have no one to look out for them.  I think it is a poor practice.  If you have trouble getting help with this type of situation contact your state's attorney general's office.  Every State has a division for frauds such as this.  This is a good reminder that sometimes one should never use credit cards to place orders with catalog companies or online web sites.  Always pay by check as there is nothing for them to fraud you with.  Concerned citizen in Wisconsin

Have not received calls but have bought from Anthony Richards and I think they are part of Amerimark.  I got a letter today that said they tried to charge my credit card for my "membership" in Passport to Health but it didn't go through.  I started looking back and they have been charging this card $29.99 every month but it says AMK*PTH Anthony Richards but with the phone number 877-668-2273.  I can't believe I never noticed this charge was recurring!  What a dope!   Good thing the credit card company just happened to change my account #!

Received repeat phone calls on my cell phone after I purchased shoes from Amerimark.  I have not answered any of these but after finding all these posts, I immediately went to check my bank account. I am also on the do not call list and thought this wasn't supposed to be happening.  That's my first and last order thru Amerimark.
