calling my cell

This is a real company. Left message.

I take it back JCP&L had no knowledge of this caller. Said it is probably someone trying to get me to switch to their company for electric.

I received a message to call this number, claiming they were from JCPL and that my bill was overdue.   I knew it wasn't and the amount they said I owed was too high.  When I called this number they wanted me to pay the overdue bill over the phone using my credit card, and for a $3.95 fee!     Be very careful of this kind of scam.    NEVER give out credit card info over the phone to people who call you.

Who ever this caller is, they say that they are JCPL and are looking for me BUT JCP&L already knows that this is my phone number and they wouldn't be asking if it was my phone number as it is on record with them. I just did a little research on the number and IT DOES belong to a telemarketer I believe it's a double spoof on that number and it beelongs to a debt collecter because even telemarketers wouldn't need to verify my phone number!!! IT DOES NOT BELONG TO JCP&L

Melvin, you shouldn"t use your real name on these websites. The people and companies that are trying to scam you check these site frequently

I just got a call from this number at 9:45am nov 29 2011. I did not answer. No vm. However I do have an outstanding bill w jcpl and I know that my area is going through a change where you can chose your electrical provider...it's possible this is a slamming scam. Something to consider.

I got a voice mail message a couple of weeks ago from this number, claiming that they need to speak with me regarding my JCP&L account. I was so busy during the holidays, and I knew our payment wasn't overdue, so I wasn't in a rush to call them back. Today, I called them back and the number is disconnected.

Got a recording from this number yesterday stating I was overdue on my JCPL bill (which I'm not)...They said they are an organization looking to offer assistance to middle income households for their electric bills....left this website to apply...www.ahanjtrue.com

yeah it's definatley JCP&L calling about an outsanding bill, would you believe they've called me twice today over a $2.23 electric bill due a week ago?  Unbelievable...

Riddle me this--- if this is JCPL then why are they calling to confirm information they already have? My electric account is in my wife's name, BUT they call to verify my name which isn't on the account. My experience tells me that it's a phishing expedition By the way NICE TRY and I now you're reading these posts [***]!

Just contacted JCP&L and they have no knowledge of a call being placed to my residence this morning and the call ID number 877-673-4477 does not belong to JCP&L checked the JCP&L websites for possible matching number and there is NOT a match to any of thier numbers

Very unbelievable. Think about it, why would they call you about $2.23 over-due by a week and not just tack it onto your next bill (which by the way, is their normal operating procedure)? This is not JCP&L period!!!

Yes, its the utility company JCP&L, or the company they outsource to collect past due bills.

Yes, the website is Affordable Housing Assistance. And, one of the things they do is help people pay their utilility bills. It says soright  on their *home page*

JCP&L brought them to my attention, also. But, we did not meet the family size/income requirements.

Hey Dawn!  You know, I thought I was the last pesron in the world to get caller id, but apparently not    We got it this past year, and I love it.  We had it with our cell phones and it is SO nice to have it on the house landline phone as well.  Cuts down on answering those telemarketer calls in question #1  Hope you have a lovely week and a very Merry Christmas!!!
