This is a collection agency......i got the same call, and the caller mentioned something about court, so i asked them "Is this a law firm?"   He said no, so after a few questions, he finally admitted it was just a collection agency.

They'll try to make it sound like they are a law firm (Which is illegal, by the way), so i suggest you say to them this; "For security, i am going to record this conversation, if you do not wish to be recorded, hang up now..."   First they will say it is illegal to record, blah, blah.....but as long as they KNOW it will be recorded, it is QUITE legal.
9 times out of 10, they will hang up!    Oh, and if they continue arguing with you, tell them "You are now harassing me, and i do not wish to recieve calls from your company in the future"

I to received a call from this number addressing themselves a Mr Adams from Johnson and Assoc.  They did not ask for a specific person and just left a message regarding a collection call. When I called I got a message about a court summons.  This sounded just like another call I got from a differnt group Luchey and Assoc. stating they were collecting from Payday Loans which I have never taken a loan out from.  When I gave my lawyer the information and he called, they would not talk to him. They hung up on him 3 times.  They made excuses and refused to send any letterhead with an address or even give me information about the loan that they said I took out.  They have made threats to send out a beench warrent for my arrest and everything. Which my lawyer states is completely illegal.  But without and address we can not turn the tables on these people.  Do not give in if you know this is not your debt.  I almost did out of fear of what they could do.  Wasn't till I meet with my lawyer that I had some peace.  I also filed a complant with the Atterney General but they also need an address to investigate this issue.  I was not able to talk to this Johnson and Associates there was only a message, but I'm sure it's like the same thing as this Luchey and Associates.

Had the same people call and I let it go to voice mail. Geez its ridiculous. Either way these collection agencies should be held accountable for them calling your place of employment.  The voice message did not mention who they were trying to reach they just left the stupid message that he was an attorney and was trying to collect a debt. Hell , If it were true put it on my credit bureau report just like all the rest.   This is a scam. if you do have that particular debt that they called you on there is not a damn thing that these people can do to you but to accrue interest and then what.  block their calls report to the FBI. All I say is tell them ok give me your address and I will send you the amount and then turn around and give that address to the FBI or Attorney Generals office.

Anyone have any details on these clowns? I have received 4 calls with the EXACT same voice mail each time from "Mr Adams" no details, not even stating that they are trying to collect which legally I don't think they can state on a VM. Funny thing is, they don't attempt to address me by name which, to me seems shady from the start. Been trying to do some research to find info on these fools but so far can only find sites like this saying they have been getting odd calls from them.

I want to be armed with some info before i even attempt to calls these jokers.

I got a call from this company saying they are from johnson and associates, spoke to a man who said his name was rodney hamilton and he was calling to collect a debt from a company i do owe, but he said i had a open checking account which i dont, any way he went on and on about what he said i owed and when i tried to ask questions a second time that i didnt understand , he started being rude and a bit loud, also told me i had 30 min to see if i could find someone to help solve my debt. when i called back and told him i didnt and told him he was harrassing me, he got ruder. i want to resolve my debt but im beginning to think he not legit. he at one point said, are u asking me the same questions over again because your trying to record me!!! i was under the impression we were already being recorded on their end. when i brought up the fair protection act, he told me it did not apply to them, when i told him i could make arrangements, he wanted money right then on a prepaid card that i told him i didnt have the money to get, well then he said i stole the money, anyway after going rounds he said he would give my info to the lawyer they represent to move forward, he then hung up, that was yesterday, these people call back this morning saying he was a supervisor saying the other guy was out of line, the he starts on me, during that time he says he has the attorney on the other line, so i called an attorney and my attorney told me to ask for a demand letter to be sent to my home, the guy said they dont have time to wait on the mail system and told me he was trying to collect a debt, and then hung up. I want to pay my bills just having a rough time right now. So i guess now i wait to see if i get served with any court papers. If anyone knows for certain they are a scam , please let me know. i gave them no personal information... they also call from a 816 298 8037 #..

Even if it's your debt, never acknowledge it.  If it's aged- not sure of the SOL, and it's old enough, they cannot pursue it.  If you acknowledge it, the SOL starts all over again.  These [***] sound  like the scum of the earth in collections.  Either ignoring them, or telling them that you will record their calls might do the trick.  Another thing, these are more than likely really old debts.  They aren't going to waste their time and money to go to court only for a judgement.  In SC, they cannot garnish your wages, so if they threaten that, tell them they are full of crap.

The FDCPA certainly does apply to him and you need to get bold and stand up to this thug.   Do not admit owing anyone,  even if you do:   Everything is alleged until proven in writing.   Make him validate everything including his shirt and shoe size and blood type.  And don't act meek or back down.  Get a bee in your bonet, go to the pharmacy and purchase some "Growacet"   and defend youself in accordance to the Fair Debt collections act.

What a debt collector CANNOT do:

•Use deceptive practices. For example, threaten you with arrest or  trick you into paying for collection calls.
    •Use obscene language.
•Call you at work after you tell them that your boss does not approve these calls.
•Deny you the right to receive a written notice (within five days after your first phone conversation) that would tell you how much you owe and the name of the creditor that says you owe the money. If you do not receive the notice within five days, call the collection agency and ask for its address and fax number. Then, send a letter to the collector noting its failure to send you the required notice. As a minimum, make a note in your file.
•Refuse to give its name and the name of the collection company when asked.
•Put a debt on your credit report if you file a dispute. It must validate the debt by obtaining a verification of the debt or a copy of a judgment from the creditor before continuing their collection efforts. The results of the investigation must be mailed to you.

They call and leave a message.  I just wanted to add to all the above that they call me from what looks like a local number where I live in an effort to try to get me to pick up.  They number they leave to call back, however, is the above-referenced number.

    This is Hilarious
I love it how these people continue to call and call, never using my name or any personal information.  They just leave generic information.  They have left 6 voicemails from the same "local" number and it is the exact wording every time.  The way they get around legal issues of stalking is the fact that you do have debt and they are like the bounty hunters.  Don't give these people ANY of your personal information.  If you have any outstanding debt, address it directly with the company you have the debt with.  And trust me a debt collector will send you info in the mail.

I work as a receptionist and this company leaves a message on the general vm system. I'm not sure who they even want as they leave no name and quite frankly even if they did I would ignore it as I always check these numbers on 800notes. These type of people get money because they scare you. Don't let it happen. As stated above if the debt collector is legit (regardless of whether the debt is or not) then they will send you paperwork in the mail.

They're doing it to me too. I do owe a debt, but they won't give me the information I need to contact the company directly. The rude [***] called me yester day and yelled at me. Told me what I was doing was against the law, and that I just need to pay them back there money. He said it was time to be an adult and take care of business. That I was un-American, They said that they have been trying to collect the money for 2 years, which obviously isn't true because the first time I heard about it was 2 months ago. I had started to pay them and they took the money out of my checking account, but then I called to lower my payment... called 2 weeks in a row, IT NEVER RANG!!!! Then the day before my last payment was made they called me and said they switched or merged with Johnson and associates. It was Trident before. This is a serious scam. My bank did a investigation and gave me my money back. So no matter how many times they call don't answer.

A dialer calls the office with a recorded message.  No indication of who they are trying to reach.  We, as front-line office personnel, have all seen this before only usually it comes with a foreign accent and ends with "if you choose to ignore this message, may God have mercy on your soul."

These people.called everyday for a week. Even called my family members. Not sure how they got ther numbers. But they told me I had 30 minutes to pay or they would get a warrant. This is not even a debt I owe. But he insists that it is and gets very hateful and gives all kinds of insults and threats. I asked forthat a letter be mailed he said they had already sent five unanswered letters. Which he did not. Told my mother I need to call back or I was going to jail. She asked how he got her number and he told her not to worry about it.  I called a lawyer and he said not to answer their calls and that what they were doing was illegal. Said to report it to the Fair Debt Collection act. He said he gets many calls from same types of collection agencies. He said they pose as law offices and harass you. Said to try to record the call. But also to let tem know you are recording so it will be legal. Scam whatch out.

i saw above that they were also refered to as wicker and Assoc. They had filed papers with my local courts and had me served.  i had a payment plan set up with this company. i had worked out a payment plan to pay the debt i know i did owe.  The agreement was that i would make these monthly payments until i could recieved some extra cash and then pay it off, and with the agreement, any legal action would stop.  when i recieved those papers they told me i needed to sign an agreement to pay which i never got.  they mailed me another one and i added on there the part about them agreeing to settle the debt at 60% (which is what i was told.    i made these payments for a year.  i was going to settle  the rest with a lump payment after christmas, but recieved some papers from the courts showing they were issuing a judgement.  i called them and was told because the agreement is only set up in 12 month periods i would need to set up more payments.  i used rhe account i had set up with them, and told them i wanted the agreement in writing that the Judgement would stop.  I never got that, but i did get a letter from the courts 5 days before that first payment in the new new 12 month agreemnt was to come out.  when i called all i got was alot of "let me look into it and call you back".  i promptly called the bank and closed that account.  They did call after that payment didnt get made asking why i did not keep my end of the agreement.  I reminded them of their agreement about no court judgement since i was making payments.  I was told i must have misunderstood.... i told them to not contact me again.  funny thing is... they havent called back.  SO if you do make any arrangements DEMAND it in writing before you start payments

I was contacted by Johnson and Associates today.  They told me that if I did not pay for this debt today, that they would send out a warrant for me and have me prosecuted for passing bad checks.  I gave them a payment, and after reading everything about them and the fair debt collection act, what can I do to get my money back.  HELP ME PLEASE
