Unknown number. Do not answer calls from numbers I do not know. Left a voicemail but did not say who it was for.

Caller left a message w/o saying who he was calling for. He said his name is Charles Quaid and that I ended to make myself available to be served a subpoena in the next 24-48hrs and to have two legal pieces of ID ready or a security officer if on served at work and to call another 800/866/877 # for information. I've researched the phone number and it appears this has been the same scan run under a different 800 # previously and the caller called himself Aaron Matthews. We'll see if he calls again or shows up.

Process servers do not warn you before they serve you... They just show up.

I got the exact same message from a "Charles Quaid" - I'm in VA though.  Sounds pretty scammy to me.

I just got a voice mail with the same message about being served paperwork/warrant?. I called the phone number and talked with some woman. She said that I had a Walmart credit card account that was in default. The only Walmart credit card I had has been closed and settled for three years.The account number that she gave me did not even match the account number that I have. I also checked my credit report and it does not show any other Walmart account.  When I told her this she said some thing weird, she said that the defaulted account would not show up on my cedit report. That is stupid, all accounts show on the credit report.  I then said that I would need to talk with my lawyer. After I mentioned lawyer she could not wait to get me off the phone. I believe that they are a scam. If they do call back I will be speaking with my lawyer and requesting written documentation about this issue for my lawyer to look at.  Again, I believe that this is a scam. When ever i have received credit card default info from collection groups they always sent several letters before calling. Again I believe this is a scam!

It is most certainly a scam.  Your best bet is to simply not answer.  They are just phishing for more information.  They have access to enough basic info about our histories (perhaps stemming from the Target et al security breach) to mislead you into believing they might be legitimate.  Let it go to voicemail and you will just get the standard recording we are all getting (from all over the country I might add).  They are calling people thousands of miles apart with the same alleged threats.

Yep, it's a scam.  We got the same voice mail in CA from "Brian".  (that's as specific as I'll get here).  I called back and asked who he worked for, and where he got my phone number.  He said he didn't recognize my number and that he in fact did not leave a voice mail message on our machine.  I said I'd report his call to authorities, he said, "Go ahead," and hung up.  Low life scam.  Karma will hopefully find out where and who he is.  : )

Thank you all for caring enough to post your comments.  They have helped to reassure my husband and me that the number 1-877-688-3879 is possibly a scam. On 1/14/14, my husband received the same automated voice recording several of you have mentioned and we live in TN.  We called the number back that night and it went to voicemail and I thought it was strange that their voicemail didn't have the name of their company.  I went to whitepages.com, entered the phone number and it has a warning that says "Moderate Spam Activity Suspected".  

The next day (1/15/14) we called the company back and the lady that answered the phone didn't say the name of the company when she answered, which I found odd.  She put us on the phone with Mike and I asked him the name of the company and he said "Western Acquisitions Group" and quickly told me I couldn't Google and find the company name, but that I would have to just type www.westernacquisitiongroup.com into my web browser.  I did and the page looks very generic and it only has a P.O Box and this phone number and not a physical location.  While on the phone I searched for the company via the bbb.org site to see if it's an actual business and it didn't show up.  When I told him I think this is a scam he tried to justify every lack of evidence that this is a real company.

I told him that Identity Guard does not show this past due account and he says it shows up on the 3 Credit Reports and I said no it doesn't.  He said you can ignore this if you want, but I assure you that you will get served legal papers and pay court fees, the full amount of the debt $1900 (instead of $1000 we're willing to settle for) and other fees if you don't settle this within the next hour.  I asked for an actual document and he sent us an email....it also looked suspicious.  

While my husband was on the phone with them, from my phone I called a friend of mine that's an attorney and he said to call the company the man claims the debt originated from and see if they sold it to Western Acquisitions Group.  When I told the man that I'm on the phone with my attorney and that we are going to call JCPenney he said ok and we ended the call.

This morning I called the Better Business Bureau of New York (since this company's website lists their address as P.O. Box 47 Albion, NY 14411) and they could not find them.  They Googled their phone number and found these scam alerts tied to it.  They suggested I call the Federal Trade Commission and speak with them on the validity of this business.

What I found interesting is that one of you said when you called 1-877-668-3879 and asked the business name they claimed to be the Legal Caring Services company, but when I spoke with them yesterday, they were the "Western Acquisition Group".  So, I just called them from my work phone and of course they didn't state their company name when they answered, just stated their name and said hello.  I said, "Yes, is this the Legal Caring Services?" and after a long pause they said "Who is this and what's your phone number?"  I asked again, "Is this the Legal Caring Service?" and they said it's the "Western Acquisitions Group".  I said, "So this isn't the Legal Caring Service company?" and in a very scared/frustrated voice the lady responded by saying, "I'm not answering anymore of your questions until you answer mine." And I said, "You just did....thank you!".

We are waiting to hear back from the trail we're on with JCPenney's to see if this is an actual debt.  My gut tells me this is a scam, but I want the confirmation.  I encourage anyone else that has been called by this number to find out the name of the business and post it on here.  My theory is this is a scam and they are changing their business name often.

First off no duh this is a scam. 2nd if you call them they use caller I'd to confirm your phone number. 3rd the lady with the j penny just got scammed she gave them personal info while arguing with them. Don't call the idiots. Let them serve you if they are real. Go to court and prove you don't owe. It's simple. Trust me no one is getting served.

I called them and they know they are scammers. They won't answer one question. They won't transfer me to someone in charge. They just keep asking for my info. Why do they need my info if they are gonna serve me?

Yes just bottom feeders buying info and hoping you will call so they can confirm your number and details.

Yes I too just received a call from this Charles guy with the same message and told me to call the number if the company that is suing me, well it is the same number her called from. I checked yellow pages, white pages and any other search I could try and came up with nothing. Life Lock shows it as a potential scam! So I am calling BS on this one and we all can not owe this company! He did not say my name, did not say this call was from a debt collector or anything like that at all!
I will not call them back, I will see what happens and I am doubting nothing!

This is a collection agency. When asked who they are they give very little information. When asked address, they hung up.
First return call to them, the guy got really surly, told me he was an attorney and "to bug off"

They are evidently a collection agency that buys out of date debts.

Rcv'd similar vm threatening legal service at home/job. Called to inquire as to company name and address and they refuse to provide -  

A net search shows that in 2013 a firm calling itself Swanson Walker of Lockport NY was using the same alias/script on their calls..."Legal Caring Services" - 24-48hr, legal summons , 2 forms id home/place of work etc...  Perhaps the same scammers under a new guise and fits with reports that these "people" may be operating out of the Upstate NY area,  Albion - Lockport area.

As they seem to be calling out to many states, It may be most effective to report them to the NY State AG office in Buffalo.
If they get enough complaints they might be able to find them and shut them down.
