No. It is a scam. You got scammed. Demand they send a letter of validation of the debt. Give them no information and demand their physical address (no P.O. boxes). If yo0u have already been scammed contact the police, the bank and government authorities.

I got a call from Paige Matthews today from 877.690.4914 ext. 206 stating that I had an outstanding debt with CashNet USA.  We even set up a payment for later this month.  I called her back and asked for documentation on this debt and she stated that there wasn't one.

I contacted CashNet and I NEVER even had a loan with them...should've called them first to verify this debt. I could just kick myself for falling for this SCAM!!

I've already contacted the authorities and my bank!

Don't be fooled by this scam. They called me stating my ex-wife took out a payday loan and because I was on the contact info, I'm liable for said amount. I asked for a copy of the loan, and she informed me not available at this time. I called my attorney who then contacted Page Matthews who stated that after speaking with my attorney, they will drop the case. He asked for her company verification at which time she hung up, and we then gave this info to police. (Don't be fooled, they are out there.)

You are either a moron or a shill.  Email is not a legal method of debt verification.  Ooohh... they have a facebook account with photos of random people and everything!  If that's all it takes to convince you, then please post your email address here so that anyone can send you an email saying you owe them money, and containing a facebook link.

    outofdebt,

Do you kiss your momma with that filthy mouth?  And is that any way to talk to Yef?

(Do you even have a momma?)

It appears to me that you are most likely a shill poster, and that your story, along with others posted in this thread, is a fiction designed to mislead others into thinking legitimate collections activities are under way.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn that the entire cast of characters posting these tales was really just one very marginal excuse for a human being.

In my opinion, this all looks a lot like the behavior of the typical lying, bullying, bogus collections operations we have all seen far too many of.

Am I right?  (insert outofdebt's foul mouthed denial here).

Here is my advice for anyone hearing from these charming slugs:

Understand that it is you, not the caller, who is in control. Remember the golden rule:  He who has the gold makes the rules.  You have the gold, they want the gold, so you make the rules.

Never admit to a debt or offer to make payments in a telephone conversation.

Instruct callers that you will only respond to written communications by U.S. mail, and that they are not allowed to contact you by telephone.

    Demand validation.

Educate yourself about the laws which protect you:

    http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/fdcpajump.shtm

    http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/fcrajump.shtm

    http://transition.fcc.gov/cgb/policy/TCPA-Rules.pdf

No one needs to be a victim.  Especially if the caller is a lying, bottom feeding creep, trying to scare you into handing over money that they likely have no right to receive.

    Hope you find this helpful.

Why wouldn't you agree with a shill poster? You're both illiterate, foul-mouthed cretins with no ethics or intelligence. You are, in fact, probably both the *same* illiterate, foul-mouthed cretin with no ethics or intelligence.

    Let us examine your assertions.

Forgive me if I paraphrase, but your post is almost unreadable as it is written.

Assertion one: There are dishonest people trying to get something for nothing.

On this we agree.  We battle such people every day on this site.  For instance, fraudulent collection agencies.  They are certainly dishonest people, and they are generally seeking to take money from people by telling lies and using extortion.

Assertion two: The dishonest people are trying to accomplish this by posting lies on this site.

Well, if you mean debtors, then no.  Posting on this site has no impact on whether a debtor pays a legitimate debt.

On the other hand, if you are referring to phony collections operations, then posting on this site might aid in efforts to confuse victims about the reality of what is happening.  You know the stuff I mean - lies about being garnished, lies about people trying to get out of legitimate debts, lies about having settled your debts with the help of these nice bottom feeder slugs.  So again, I have to agree, dishonest people, shills for instance, are here trying to get something for nothing.

Now let me offer an assertion or two of my own.  In my estimation, your posting reflects an uneducated person whose ability to express themselves in writing is so poor that they would be ineligible for most jobs.  And, the descriptions offered by you regarding the lifestyle of posters who are critical of unethical phony collections activities seem autobiographical to me.

I suspect that you are an ignorant, uncouth, unkempt, soulless slug, who rather than earn an honest living, chooses to lie, cheat, threaten, and extort others in order to keep up with the other squirming maggots in the festering dung heap in which youl live, eat, attempt to breed, and where you will undoubtedly finish out your miserable and insignificant little life.

How is that for a guess?  Pretty close?  Does it suck being you?

Oh well, this is all just a hypothesis.  I could be wrong.  And you could win the powerball lottery.

Hope you have exactly the life you deserve.

I have to agree with you that the foul-mouthed posts are very likely all from the same clown.  Heck it's already clear that "Ashley" is also "outofdebt" based on the profane response to my post.  They just don't seem to have the intelligence to comprehend that the more profane garbage they post, the less credible they become.

You're certainly OK with these scammers stealing money with these fake collection calls.

Oh, and they have to prove that their victims "borrowed" anything.

Don't waste your breath. This guy is just another shining example of the people employed by frauds. Accusing the people here of not paying their debts because, just like everything else he's ever done, he's failing at collecting non-existent or invalid debts.
Semi-literate at best, these types of dirt-bags hide behind their computers and phones. They cry out their outrage at "debtors" because they are falling short of their quota. They fear losing their "Commission bonuses". Which is laughable. We all know that those bonuses never materialize. As a matter of fact, the only people that believe in those bonuses from bogus debt collection firms are the morons who've been conned into working for them. This guy here is just going to have to accept the fact that all he'll ever see is minimum wage. And he'd better hope he gets paid in cash. Bogus debt collection firms have a long history of "rubber-checks".
He'll come back now with some line of bull. Just watch. He'll have claims of wealth & cars. When that falls through he'll be really pissed. He just won't be able to accept the reality of the situation. That he is a nothing and the regulars here could buy and sell him with our pocket change.
He'll make all kinds of threats and his bluster will be entertaining as hell. But we all know that he's the type that will be pushed too far one day. He'll bring a knife..to a gunfight.
