- dragoon| 2 repliesIt was a text message sent to my cell phone:
"Bank of America has an account servicing matter that we need to discuss. Please call 877-719-8011 before 9pm today. Reply STOP to stop texts.(FREE TEXT)"

- YamaThis is the phone number for Card Services - they manage the credit card accounts for Bank of America. I just called a good BOA phone number (you can find this on the back of your cards or on your checks or on their website) and spoke to a rep, she confirmed this is a good number and connected me to Card Services.
Of course, it's because they want some money because I missed a payment but that's life...... - AguafriaThis is a scam!! Do NOT listen to Yama!!!
- Betty| 1 replyOf all the ways to contact its customers, why would Bank of America take such an unprofessional route? Why a text message? Are they trying to copy Jamster? If they really had to talk to you about an overdue balance or something, why wouldn't they just email you or send you a letter through snail mail?
- KarlThe phone number for credit card services for BoA is 1.800.732.9194, NOT this number.
I got the text message last night, and funny how I called the number AFTER 9pm and they managed to answer anyway. I gave away all the information they requested, and now I'm panicked about what to do :(
Same message--
"Bank of America has an account servicing matter that we need to discuss. Please call 877-719-8011 before 9pm today. Reply STOP to stop texts.(FREE TEXT)" - KarlI went to BoA today and talked to a teller, and he confirmed that the text message was actually from the bank's collections department! I think it was kind of inappropriate that the bank sent me a text message without ever asking if that was all right, but I have confirmation that it was legit. It was to inform me that I was over my credit limit. False alarm, it's for real.
- Caller: Bank of America
- Call type: Debt collector
- anonyI got the text message today. I think it is very shady.
- Caller: FCI Card Services
- BAPI work for Bank of America in credit card services and that is not a legitimate number. The collections department is open until 10pm every day. It is also not in our corporate directory. Bank of America does not use text messages to get in contact with customers, ever, unless you have the credit monitoring service (monitors your credit bureaus) Privacy Assist.
- Call type: Valid
- kg| 2 repliesI got the same msg and called my bank and they said that everything was fine with my accounts. ITS A SCAM.
- bluefire replies to kg| 1 replyits not a scam my freaking girlfriends bank of america calls all the time, she sent a payment they never recieved it, she sucks at paying them so they keep calling me with unavaible numbers on my cell, so one time i asked for there number and thats the number they gave me.
- BlueFire replies to bluefirewait maybe it is, ill check
- swordfish| 1 replyits a scam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! whan i askes who they were they said fia card service, they could net even tell mw who my cc was
if you gave information call you credit companies to report fraud - doesn't matter replies to swordfishGot the same message today....And was a BIT skeptical
I called them, and after asking them who they were, they said they were affiliated with BOA...so I gave him my ATM debit card 16 digit number. He said he couldn't find it and then asked for my Social Security # at which time, I told him where to go!
I then immediately called BOA's Protection and Security Number (877) 833-5617 and spoke with a representative who placed me on hold while she called the number in the TXT. She came back and said that she WAS able to verify the person on the phone and that the number was legit. She explained that this number is a Collection Service associated with the Credit Card's of BOA.
SO, I called the number back and gave them my C.C. number this time and they were able to pull up my account and verify that a payment had been made already. They even told me how much I had paid on the card which leads me to believe they could see my account detail.
So it is legit. They're just a collection agency. But if you are skeptical just call BOA...and DON'T give your Social Security Number out....EVER! - JJI got the same text and I did call B Of A and they said it not a valid B of A number and to not release any information. Someone is lying about this. SCAM SCAM
- Caller: card services
- suzyYour BoA online accts have a "alert history" section that is supposed to show all alerts you have received so that you can verify their authenticity. What a surprise that I didn't have anything showing there even though I received an alleged text message from BoA.
- Evil OneSomeone gave them my number as a contact number. THey use an autodialer to call you. I didn't know it also texted message you. They call 2 to 3 times everyday with this auto dialer. I wonder what would happen if someone or a number of someones hooked up their computer modem to autodial their toll free number every 30 minutes or so while they went to work...
- Call type: Debt collector
