- Christi| 1 replyI had a voicemail from this number. I called back to receive an automated answer "our representatives are assisting other callers. Please hold and someone will be with you shortly." Someone (Kevin Brown) did finally get on the line and needed me to provide them with the phone number of which I received the message in order to pull up my account information. After a long pause...he did virify my name and last 4 of SS#. He advised that this was an attempt to collect a debt from a credit card (which I know has been been paid in full and closed a year ago). When I advised him of such he argued otherwise and said he was looking at the debt. I asked him if he could provide me with a copy of the debt and of course, he said no. I advised him to send me something in the MAIL and I would take care of it. He refused and said his company has already trued to mail me several notices. I then advised that until I get something in the mail of said debt and legitimacy of his company being able to collect said debt, I would not deal with him further and hung up! I believe its an attempt of FRAUD.

- DallasGot a call, nor ring just a voicemail. Called them and gave them my first and last name. Realizing now it was most likely a scam and wondering if anyone has had identity theft from them.

- shmohawkSame problem as other people. Odd twist in that I suddenly had a voicemail from this number about debt collection, but my phone showed a missed call from (401) 244-5002, a Warwick, RI phone number. Both numbers blocked, definitely a scam.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of the date of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
