- SabrinaSecurity Verification for Sears and K Mart
- Timbo| 1 replyKmart.com fraud prevention called to verify an order. I did not place the order, so I'm glad they called.
- Caller: Kmart.com
- Call type: Unwanted
- Phishing?| 1 replyThis number called me and I HAD just placed an order with Kmart. I told them so and yet they wanted more personal information like birthdate. It is not for a credit card order to give out your birthdate so I called my credit card company and reported them.
Does anyone know if this is a Phishing scam?
I'll never shop online at Kmart again!!! Don't give any info to mysterious people who claim they are with the Kmart fraud dept. Never give personal info over the phone when someone has called you.- Caller: Supposedly Kmart Fraud dept
- LK| 1 replyI just received a call from this number after placing an order online a few hours prior. Rather than working through the man who called me fromt he 877 number, I called Kmart customer service directly. Customer service transferred me to the same division and asked for personal information. I refused to give any more PII at one point, and the woman agreed to finish processing my order. A few minutes later, I received an email confirming my earlier order.
If hesitant, I suggest contacting Kmart customer service and don't be hesitant to say "no" if some questions are just too pointed.- Caller: Sears/Kmart
- JB| 3 repliesI received a call from this number today and spoke with a very nice man who said he was with Sears Fraud Protection services. He had asked if I had made a tv purchase with Sears today and stated the last 4 digits of the credit card used. When I told him I hadn't he gave me the order number and his phone number and told me to call my credit card number directly to let them know my card had been compromised. He went in and cancelled the order. My credit card has since been cancelled.
While I check my online statement regularly and would have caught this eventually, I was very greatful to have a heads up where I could take action immediately. He was able to cancel the order that was placed with my credit card making sure the order would not ship.- Caller: Sears Fraud Prevention
- JB replies to JB| 1 replyI should mention as well that I did not answer the first time they called as I did not recognize the number and I googled the phone number as I usually do when I don't recognize an incoming call. This is how I came across this site and knew to pick up the next time they called...and they did call back within minutes.
- SavannagdI received a fone call from this number, K-mart Fraud Protection Services informed me that some one had used my card number to order gift cards from K-mart. I told them that I did not order any thing form K-Mart with my card. They cancel the order. Very good services from K-Mart.
- tilly telly replies to JBwell, keep checking your account, kid, cause this is a bad news fraud and you're about to be had.
- erin is a girl replies to TimboKeep checking your account, cutie, cause this call was completely fraudulent.
- empty name replies to Phishing?Good for you and thanks from me!!!! You nailed them, they are frauds.
- LOOKIE HERE replies to LKHOW CUNNING... YOU WROTE YOUR OWN REVIEW TO PUT PEOPLE AT EASE..... people.... please continue to read. I buy tons of stuff on line. NEVER am I allowed to rate a site unless I have made a purchase.... and never more than one review per purchase. SO ALONG COMES THIS FRAUD.... and look at me.... I am able to fill up the critiques till the cows come home. This means.... that they can as well, that they own this review site and they have complete access to it. SO.... they write some of their own "very helpful, touching stories" or LIES, duh. DO NOT FALL FOR IT. THINK, if they called you, then they already have your credit card number, your name, your address, everything else they as you for. If they have it already, make THEM verify it. ps.... erin.... the police have yet to show at my door for calling you a fraud and my credit card has YET to call me over the purchase...... awhhh, darn... not everyone is scammable!!
- erin IIyou threatened me with your "IN HOUSE" legal department to which I asked to talk to them, then asked to be put on hold to talk to them then told you to have them call me (still waiting); then I called and you claimed you were calling my "LOCAL POLICE". AGAIN... still waiting!!!!! They aren't here yet, but I trust they are on the way and I will be happy to "share" with them, you can bet your bottom dollar there! Can't wait to tell them about our exchange. So... those of you weirded out... I refused to give info to folk who pretended to help. They insisted and put on their bully hats, I balked. I haven't called the local police on them.... because I don't know much other than they are frauds, but they have threatened me with their "very own" (likely) legal department and my very own (local police), but gee willikers for "saying I think they are frauds, cuz no one was answering my valid questions". I need some legal advice here.... you guys think this is a "misdomeaner" or a "felony" or just what?!!
- Bob F.A misdomeaner or a felony? Come on - now you just sound like a crazy old bat. The first 2 or 3 comments here are correct. It's K-Mart LP. Not rocket science to figure it out either - it's only a billion dollar company...jesus do a little leg work before spouting off at the mouth and sounding like an idiot.
Anyways - they called to verify an order I was sending to my son at college stating it was suspicious due to the different shipping address. They did ask me questions that were public info so I answered and got a confirmation e-mail after....seemed legit.- Caller: Kmart.com
- Tina JWell said Bob F! In todays society we automatically think everything is a scam if we are not educated on their services. They are a ligit company and will send a confirmation email after they verify info. They are not asking for your SS#, DL # or anything like that. They confirm you made a purchase and they move on.
- Caller: Mary
- R PikeBob F, if the questions they asked you were public info, it doesn't make sense. Use public info to protect fraud?
Tian J, a woman called me and asked for my birthday. I said how could you possibly know my birthday? She said it was obtained from public records. Birthday? She sounded very phishy to me. So I gave her a random date and she said the order would be processed soon. So if this number is indeed from kmart/sears, they are not doing the job right.- Caller: claimed to be Kmart/Sears, but I am not sure.
- JL| 1 replySabrina, Bob F. and Tina J. are correct. It is Kmart Corp order processing security verification. They called within minutes of placing my online order.
The gentleman was pleasant, all the info I asked him was verified, and I received my online order confirmation via email in a few seconds. Their process is very thorough and caught a very recent discrepancy regarding my order shipping information.- Caller: Kmart
- JL replies to JLp.s. Kmart corp also owns Sears and Lands End
- MM replies to JBI had the same experience, but I called the number on the back of my Sears credit card and talked with Sears Security. The numbers 877-734-4700, 515-440-5000 and 847-645-4005 are NOT Sears Security. This is a Scam/Pfhising (whatever you want to call it). They are trying to get more of your personal information such as birth date and social security #.
- TjReceived message from them, but the card they were trying to verify was not mine. Although the phone number and address were mine..they did not have my cc info. Weird! !! Updates to follow...as it is Sunday, they will be calling me tomorrow!!!
- Caller: Kmart fraud
- JillI do not usually go these websites with comments about 800 callers, but because Kmart.com was SUPER HELPFUL, I'm going to. This call actually went to my mother in Iowa, where I haven't lived in over 10 years. I returned the call, convinced I wouldn't give anything away in case it was a scam. The guy from Kmart asked if I'd placed an order, I said no. He said it was supposed to be delivered to an address in Chicago, I said I definitely didn't place that order. He said the purchase was made with a card ending in XXXX. I knew I indeed had a card ending in that number, but nonchalantly replied "oh, ok, thanks." He said if I had a card ending in XXXX that I needed to cancel it.
I contacted my bank, and lo and behold, there was a charge pending for almost $400 from Kmart.com! My bank was very helpful, stopping the charge (although the Kmart rep said he would as well) and canceled my card. She also gave me the number for the credit bureaus to put a 90 day fraud alert on my accounts too. I am VERY grateful that Kmart flagged that purchase, who knows what else these people may have tried to charge!- Caller: Kmart Fraud Dept
