- RVI was just on career builder and sent a resume to a company called USBA for Bartending openings and training. I inserted phone number with 213 area code into google to see if anyone reported as scam and didn't find anything on it so submitted my resume through career builder. I just got a reply email back with the phone number you are talking about 877 771 5194 so in turn I entered this number into google and saw your question. Did you ever apply to this company?
- ScottyJ| 1 replyThis is from a prize notification center. You must sit through a 1 1/2 hour presentation for "Direct Buy" before you can receive your prize. You didn't win anything, you only have a chance to win something. You will be given a key at the end of the presentation and if it turns, you win a $50,000 home makeover. Scam, scam, scam.

- Colby KnollThis is a deceptive low form of advertising that should not be allowed in the U.S.
If this goes to Direct Buy I'd like to say "I do not want to be a part of direct buy, and do not appreciate predatory advertising like this. I am on the do not call list, and will escalate this complaint if I receive any more calls from your company."- Caller: Direct buy calling themselves "Prize Notification Center"

- Kim F.| 1 replyI just received a call from this number stating that I won $50,000. How can they do this? My number is on the Do Not Call list.
- Caller: Notification Center
- Slim replies to Kim F.The DNC list does not automatically block calls. Instead, it provides a list of "do not call" phone numbers to legitimate telemarketers who pay a fee for the list.
The DNC list exempts political callers, survey organizations, charities and companies with preexisting business relationships, but these organizations might have their own, internal Do Not Call list (ask them).
The DNC list is not effective against criminals, spammers and scammers, because those people do not subscribe to the DNC list, and do not care if you are on or off that list.
Its purpose is to stop calls from legitimate telemarketers, and it does a pretty good job at that.

- Busted in VAI got the same call. Good thing I checked here first. Sad thing is that I did enter one contest (Zillow) for home improvement. It said it was for $10k, however. So, this $ value did not add up.
Unless you are a builder, plan to do a lot of home renovation, like the product lines they carry, or whatever DirectBuy is not remotely the best way to buy. They are extremely limited in the products offer/carry. To be fair and in the interest of full disclosure, for one year I was a member of DirectBuy. I did learn about a very good custom drapery company through them. In the end, however, you are not saving money, if you have the membership fees when you are doing no to little renovation. They do not deliver or help with installations, so I had to pay for those services out-of-pocket. So, where are the savings. Shame on DirectBuy! There is a reason I did not renew my membership.- Caller: "BestBuy/Prize Notification Center"

- TimI got the same voice mail that Erika got above. I'm in the running for $50,000.00, you bet. I am glad that I looked up this number and did not waste my time calling back. I have been through these type of things in the past with people selling time shares. If in doubt look the number up before calling. It will save you a lot of wasted time. The girl who called said her name was Taylor at 877-771-5194 ext. 422. Good cover name.
- Caller: Can not remember
- Call type: Telemarketer
- AaronGot the exact same call as everyone else. I'm in the running for $50,000. Please call back ASAP, etc. etc. Taylor was the name of the person calling. Apparently they work Taylor to death. Poor Taylor.

- Sherry| 1 replyI received a call from this number yesterday. I guess they gave Taylor the day off, because the person who left me a message was a girl named Sky. My msg was exactly the same as everyone's else s. It's a shame for that one split second you think wow maybe I won. But you know you didn't. Looks like I'm in good company.
- Caller: Never gave the name

- PeteI just got the same call Sherry did, from some idiot named Sky. What do these scam morons think. That we're all stupid? I got an email the other day stating they wanted to send me 10 million dollars, and of course they wanted my personal information. I responded to the email and said, " To prove to me this is not a scam, before I send you any personal information, send me $10,000.00 and I'll give you the 10 million." Needless to say I didn't hear from them again.

- AmeliaJust received a computer call from "Skye" and a very ambiguous message of a winning ticket from possibly a movie theater, store... and I win $50,000. Call back at 877-771-5194 ext- 323 Didn't call back, went right to my computer and googled the number!! Very glad other people have posted concerning this scam. P.S. "Scam" should be one of the choices in the list of "call type."
- LeeWell I guess I was not the first person to get the same identical message from Taylor. Apparently I entered a contest at a shopping center, movie theatre, or online, congratulations you won 50,000, please call me back ASAP at 1-877-771-5194 ext 422. I actual had entered an online contest so I thought maybe.... So I called and got Jacob's voicemail who was not available. So I Hung up and called back so I could listen more closely to the first message. Than I got Taylor's assistant (didn't catch her name) who than informed me because I had come so far in the contest with Direct Buy I had won 2 round trip airline tickets or a 7 day cruise and was in the running for the 50,000 which would be drawn on Monday. I said thank you but no thanks that I did not have the availability to travel anywhere at this time. Than I went online and goggled this and found this site. Well I guess my first instincts were correct, total scam, but I was hopeful it might be legitimate. What's that old saying if it sounds to good to be true....
- Caller: Direct Buy
- MarieSame things as all the others, my call was from Jacob. Please call me back 877-771-5194 ext: 642. You entered at a home improvement store and congratulations you won either a $50,000 home improvement or $25,000 cash, please call back as soon as possible to claim your prize. Called the number this morning and the recording I recevied when the call was picked up just didn't sound right. No name of the company, bad call quality, etc. I hung up and seached the net for info and landed here. Glad I didn't waste my time by entering lovely Jacobs extension. Sad thing is every once in a while I do "enter to win" at a sports event or store. How can you tell if any of them are real or not???? What a pain!!
- MikeI also got a call from a lady named Sky telling me that my name had been drawn for a $50,000 home makeover. As soon I heard the word "Direct Buy" I shut the guy down and told him I wasn't interested. Just google their name and see the thousands of complaints people have made about that company and that's all I need to know. I get so sick and tired of these spamming companies trying to rip off consumers.

- LizI got a call from Jacob too! My husband got very excited about the $50k home makeover or $25K. He told me he wanted the $25k. I told him it was a scam. How did I know? The voicemail was very generic, they had our phone number but not either one of our names. The message also was very generic about where I could have entered the sweepstakes, even saying that a merchant could have entered me in it without my knowledge. He also did not leave the name of the company that he was calling from, he simply stated that it was a prize notification center. I love the internet and sites like this!
- AlexandriaSame Taylor call/message on my answering machine. Called back, got a male voice mail, left my info. Called back the next day, same thing. Called back today and got a real voice; Taylor not available but she could help me if I would give her my first/last name. She came back and told me that yes, I was a semi-finalist for the $50,000. The drawing in end of August. When I asked what company this was, she hung up on me. Called back again and got a live voice. I asked if this was Direct Buy and the guy said "Uh, no." so I asked if I could talk with someone in their QMS Dept, and he said "Um, Um who are you trying to reach?" so I said your QMS Dept. and he said "What is this in reference to" and I said that's for me to discuss with your QMS Dept... He hung up.
Boy, I'm with Liz (previous comment) - I love sites like this where you can confirm the scams!- Caller: ? - someone named Taylor
